Chapter 4 Mistaken Identity

Lily scratched her small head, thinking for several seconds before responding, "But my mom only had me as her child?"

Her words made Mia raise an eyebrow.

"Are you sure your mom is your biological mother? Have you two ever done a DNA test?"

The mention of a DNA test left Lily speechless.

Considering how Mandy treated her, could it be possible that Mandy wasn't her real mother? This thought began to flood Lily's young mind.

Uncertain about whether Mandy was truly her mother, Lily felt compelled to prove she had parents who loved her. She brought up Harrison.

"I did a DNA test with my dad. I'm definitely his biological daughter," she said. "My daddy loves me very much. He adores me."

Lily's words prompted Mia to raise her eyebrow again.

"Your dad doesn't seem that great to me," she said. "If he really loved you, he wouldn't let you cry here alone."

Lily lowered her face, feeling hurt, and stopped talking.

Mia seized the opportunity to plant a seed in Lily's mind. "Look how much we look alike. Maybe you're my long-lost sister? What if we did a DNA test?"

Lily fell into deep thought, seemingly swayed by Mia's suggestion.

Mia wanted to ask Lily more questions about her situation, but at that moment, Mandy's impatient voice echoed from outside the bathroom door.

"Lily, have you fallen into the toilet or something? Come out now!" Mandy shouted. "If you don't come out immediately, you can just stay in there forever!"

Hearing Mandy's voice, Lily instinctively shrank back. She gave Mia one last meaningful look, preparing to find Mandy.

Just then, Mia seemed to have an idea. She pushed Lily toward the opposite side of the bathroom and headed straight for the door herself.

Before Lily could understand what was happening, Mia had already confronted Mandy outside.

Despite her young age, Mia had quite a temper. Whenever she encountered someone who displeased her, she would challenge them directly. Those who knew her well had nicknamed her "Miss Confrontation."

True to her nature, Mia didn't let Mandy off easily.

"Mom, have you ever fallen into a toilet before? Or maybe you used to live in one?" Mia asked Mandy directly.

Mandy, who had been engrossed in her phone, felt her face grow cold upon hearing these words. She wondered how Lily had changed so much—was this still the same timid girl who always cowered before her?

With a dark expression, she scolded Mia.

"Lily, how dare you scold me?"

Mia pouted and fired back. "You spoke to me like that first. Why can't I speak to you the same way?"

"You!"

Mandy was furious. She wasn't one to easily swallow her pride.

After checking that no one was around, she reached out with one hand toward Mia. Her fingernails were decorated with colorful polish, sharp and menacing. She dug them into Mia's arm.

The sharp pain caused Mia's expression to change, and tears welled up in her eyes.

Even this wasn't enough to satisfy Mandy, who continued to berate her. "You little brat. This time I'm just teaching you a lesson. If you dare talk back to me again, I could strangle you."

Mia suppressed her anger, not retaliating against Mandy.

She had her own plans. Earlier, she had heard Lily say her father loved her dearly. Mia intended to use Lily's father to teach this horrible woman who dared hurt her a lesson.

Seeing that Mia no longer dared to talk back, Mandy looked at her with triumphant eyes.

What a little rascal. Definitely that wretched woman's child, just like her mother. Without discipline, she would never behave.

Mandy dragged Mia back to the waiting area outside the operating room.

Minute by minute, the complex surgery inside was nearing completion.

An exhausted Elena stepped away from the operating table.

Nathan followed beside her, like a devoted assistant, apologizing to her.

"I'm sorry, Elena. Because of my limited skills, you had to perform surgery right after your flight."

Elena removed her surgical gloves and wiped the sweat from her forehead. "It's no trouble. We're all here to save lives."

"Zander's father's surgery fees will be transferred to your account tomorrow," Nathan assured her. "I've also arranged a hotel room for you. I'll send you the address shortly."

Elena nodded.

At that moment, Nathan's assistant hurried over.

"Dr. Parker, I need to inform you that Harrison Frost from Frost Industries contacted me. He wishes to meet with Dr. Johnson."

Hearing Harrison's name, Nathan frowned.

"What does he want with her?" he asked.

The assistant explained, "His daughter is unwell. He wants Dr. Johnson to examine her."

Nathan remained silent for a moment before responding, "If he wants medical attention, he should follow proper procedures. What's the meaning of waiting outside the operating room to ambush Dr. Johnson?"

"Tell them to leave. Dr. Johnson just completed a complex surgery and she's exhausted."

"That's all."

Nathan firmly rejected his assistant's request.

The assistant stood there awkwardly. If the Frost family could have contacted Ella directly, they wouldn't have been waiting outside the operating room for half a day.

Concerned that her children had been waiting too long in the lounge, Elena changed her clothes and headed there.

Just then, her friend and assistant Charlotte Rose called.

"Elena, I'm downstairs at the hospital. They won't let me park here. Bring the children down quickly."

Elena acknowledged and hurried into the lounge.

Seeing only Connor sitting alone playing with his computer, she asked, "Connor, where's Mia?"
