Chapter 2
Marina Lane stood there frozen, unable to even think of how to respond to everyone’s accusations.
This is clearly a trap set by someone else. The appearance of this bank transaction record is far too timely. Susanna Lane must have prepared it in advance.
Now, whatever she says is pointless. All the other party wants is to get her out of the company!
Thinking of this, Marina Ryan stared at Susanna Ryan angrily and demanded, “You deliberately slandered me. Why would you do such a thing?”
Upon hearing this, Susanna Lane snorted in disdain, her eyes filled with mockery. “Why? I’ve long known about your prostitution activities. I was just waiting for the right moment. I wanted to send you, you slut, back where you belong, and stop dreaming of taking other people’s wealth. Now that you’ve been caught by our company’s people, I advise you to get lost soon!”
As soon as the words were spoken, Marina Rain suddenly became awake.
It turns out that Susanna Lane did her harm because she thought Susanna wanted to take over the company and seize its assets. So, she went to any lengths to destroy her.
With both eyewitness accounts and physical evidence now available, Marina Lane can’t possibly get out of this, no matter what she does.
The people watching nearby were extremely agitated. They started pushing her around, and some even took pictures. The situation became completely chaotic.
Marina Lane was powerless to resist, and thus she was driven out of the company.
In the scuffle, her hair was completely messed up, and half of her clothes were torn off. She looked completely disheveled.
But the fighting continued, and the insults of those around me could still be heard.
“People like you don’t even deserve to live. It would be better if you died!”
“You dirty woman, get out of our sight. Leave now, and the farther you go, the better!”
“…”
For women, reputation is of utmost importance. She clearly didn’t do anything wrong, yet she’s being insulted like this. Where is justice in all this?
Marina Lane hugged herself weakly, tears streaming down her face. Her frozen heart felt as though it were falling into an abyss, with no one to save her.
Filled with shame and anger, she wanted to leave immediately. But Susanna Lane grabbed her arm and raised her voice deliberately: “Everyone, come and look! This woman is a prostitute. Remember her face. In the future, stay away from her! If she ruins your family, it’ll be too late to cry!”
When Susanna Lane cried out like that, people on the street were attracted to the scene. More and more people gathered around, pointing at her and whispering among themselves.
At this point, Marina Lane was like a joke—a person who could be mercilessly trampled upon by anyone.
Susanna Lane slowly walked up to her and said through gritted teeth, “If Father finds out you’re prostituting yourself, he’ll definitely drive you out. You won’t get a share in the company, and you can forget about any inheritance from the family.”
Seeing Marina Lane’s pale face, she continued in a vicious tone, “I forgot to tell you one thing. I went to Brother Chad’s house yesterday as a guest. His parents invited me. If we ever get married, we’ll definitely invite you!”
Chad, as mentioned by Susanna Lane, full name Chad Dick, is the only son of the Ji family. He’s the typical rich, handsome guy.
Chad Dick was Marina Lane’s first love. They were childhood friends, and their relationship was very close.
They attended the same university. Marina Lane and Chad Dick were considered a couple, and they were almost engaged. But unexpectedly, Susanna Lane intervened in their relationship.
When she heard these words, she froze in shock.
“When did you two start dating?” Marina Rain’s eyes were red, and her voice trembled.
Susanna Lane couldn’t hide her triumph. With a sneer, she said, “What’s the point of knowing all this? Before I came here, I told Brother Chad about your prostitution. I’m sure he finds you disgusting now!”
With a loud “boom,” those words rang out like a thunderclap in Marina Rain’s mind, completely shattering her will!
For some reason, the scene of my mother just before she died suddenly appeared before my eyes.
Her mother held her hand tightly, tears in her eyes, begging her to live on. But without her mother, she was left alone in this world.
Ever since her stepmother moved into the house, she was practically no different from an abandoned baby. If it weren’t for the words her mother had said to her, she probably wouldn’t be alive today.
Thinking of this, Marina Lane gritted her teeth and rushed out of the crowd, running forward as fast as she could.
I don’t know how long I ran, but eventually I made it back to my dilapidated rental apartment.
Marina Lane rushed straight to the bathroom, turned on the shower, and let the warm water flow over her body. Her frozen heart finally began to warm up.
After taking a shower, I felt much calmer. I just sat there on the sofa, lost in thought.
Just then, there was a sudden knock at the door.
Marina Lane got up to open the door, completely unprepared for the harsh slap that greeted her.
With a sharp “snap!”, she froze on the spot, too stunned to react, as the piercing sound echoed through the air.
“You wretched bastard, how dare you engage in prostitution? You’ve brought shame to our Reine family!”
Marina Lane slowly came back to her senses, and then she realized that the woman before her was her stepmother, Pamela Steadwy.
“I didn’t do anything. This is all Susanna Lane’s scheme. I’m sure you’re involved too! You two worked together to get me out of the company.”
No sooner had he finished speaking than another slap was thrown at him.
“Snap!”
Marina Lane’s face immediately showed five bloody finger marks, and blood seeped from the corners of her mouth.
“You yourself have done something that shames our family’s reputation. And yet, you still dare to blame Susanna for it? I think you’re beyond redemption!” Pamela Steadway glared at Marina Lane, her eyes filled with disgust and contempt.
Upon hearing this, Marina Rain sneered coldly. Her voice was extremely shrill and terrifying to hear.
If you want to find fault with someone, you’ll always find reasons.
If anyone’s to be blamed, it’s the father for being blind enough to marry such a vicious stepmother and step-sister who’s as cruel as a tiger or wolf!
Pamela Steadwy raised her eyebrows slightly and said slowly, “Our Reine family isn’t poor enough that you’d have to engage in prostitution. Take this money, but never do such things again. It’s shameful!”
After saying that, he took out 10,000 yuan in cash from his bag and threw it mercilessly onto Marina Lane’s face. Then he rushed out of the door.
Marina Lane’s eyes turned blood-red. She clenched her fists tightly, unable to suppress the anger in her heart any longer.
Over the years, she’ve suffered a lot of hardships, but she’s never complained. She’s just swallowed her pain and endured it in silence.
But this time, she was falsely accused for no reason, ruining her reputation completely. This was far beyond what she could bear.
The Lane family was clearly her family, yet she lived in this dilapidated rental house, while the mother and daughter enjoyed wealth and luxury.
I originally thought that by being tolerant, I could get through this life peacefully. But it seems like they won’t let her go.
Rather than accepting this, it’s better to rise up and resist.
Thinking of this, she squatted down, wiped the tears from her eyes, endured her distress, and picked up each piece of money one by one.
