Chapter 9
Marina Lane saw that Will Jody didn’t seem to be joking at all, so she lowered her head and began to think.
I originally just wanted to fake a marriage to get past my father’s objections. But who would’ve thought that Satan would come knocking at my door again? Do I really have to have a child now?
She never had such an idea in the first place. She immediately shook her head and refused: “No way.”
This kind of matter can’t be rushed. Will Jody didn’t push her any further. He simply said softly, “We’re now husband and wife. You can’t keep living in the apartment forever. I have a villa in the suburbs. From now on, we’ll live there.”
Marina Lane wanted to refuse, but then she thought of how countless eyes were watching her. If anyone found out that their marriage was fake, everything would be ruined.
“Well then, but I need to go back and get my luggage.”
“No need. Your luggage is already in the villa,” Will Jody said calmly.
Marina Lane was astonished. It turned out he had already prepared everything in advance. Perhaps he had merely informed her just now. Suddenly, she felt like she had fallen into a trap.
The car quickly arrived at the villa that Will Jody had mentioned.
After getting out of the car, Marina Lane stared at the luxurious villa and couldn’t help but ask in astonishment, “Are you that rich?”
“If you want it, I’ll give it to you,” Will Jody said nonchalantly.
Marina Lane was momentarily stunned, then obediently followed behind him.
After some time of arranging things, Marina Lane finally managed to settle down here.
As I lay in bed, resting up, my phone suddenly rang. When I saw the name on the screen, my expression immediately turned somber.
“Is there anything I can do?” Marina Ryan asked indifferently.
Susanna Ryan snorted coldly, trying to suppress her anger. She said coldly, “The day after tomorrow is Grandma’s 70th birthday. Father wants you to be there.”
Upon hearing this, Marina Rean felt a shudder run through her body.
If it were anyone else, she definitely wouldn’t go. But Grandma has always been very kind to her, and Grandma is the only person she cares about in the Reine family.
After hanging up the phone, Susanna Lane sent her the address where the party would be held.
The next day.
Marina Lane was about to leave after packing her things when she happened to run into Will Jody, who was coming out of the kitchen with a bowl of soup in his hands.
You should know that he’s extremely picky about cleanliness and very sensitive to smells. So, he never goes into the kitchen. But in order to make soup for Marina Lane, he stayed there for two hours.
To my surprise, as soon as I stepped outside, I saw Marina Lane with something in her hands, about to leave. I immediately asked anxiously, “Where are you going?”
“Tomorrow is my grandmother’s seventieth birthday. I’m going to pick out a gift for her.” Marina Lane stopped in her tracks and turned to look at Will Jody.
Will Jody placed the soup on the table and said softly, “There’s no rush. After we finish eating, I’ll go with you. I can help you pick out a dress.”
Hearing these words, Marina Lane felt a warmth surge in her heart. She smiled and nodded.
After dinner, the two went to a high-end clothing store.
As soon as this handsome couple entered the shop, a clerk immediately came over to greet them.
“You’ve come to the right place. We just received a new shipment of goods, with a wide variety of styles available.”
The female clerk carefully observed Will Jody. She found him handsome and exuding an air of nobility.
She nodded slightly, unable to hide her shy expression.
Kevil Jody’s gaze remained fixed on Marina Rain, and it was filled with exceptional tenderness.
The salesperson then glanced at Marina Rainn. She thought that although Marina was quite attractive, she would never be suitable for this man.
She didn’t know where that confidence came from. She tilted her head slightly, and said indifferently, “Lady, may I ask what price you are interested in a gown?”
Marina Rean knew from the beginning that the employees in these famous stores would adjust their service attitude based on their identity. But she never expected it to be so obvious.
She originally just wanted to choose a gift, but Will Jordy insisted that she come here instead.
But then again, at Grandma’s birthday party, if she wore something cheap and inappropriate, she’d definitely be laughed at by Susanna Lane.
She stepped aside and said with a smile, “Let me take a look first.”
Hearing this, the clerk immediately rolled her eyes. She knew that anyone who said something like that probably didn’t have much money.
Marina Lane took a quick look and realized that the dresses here were indeed very expensive. She couldn’t afford them, so her face showed signs of disappointment.
When she looked up, she suddenly saw a yellow dress within her price range. Just as she reached out to touch it, the salesperson widened her eyes and quickly shouted.
“If you don’t want to buy it, then don’t touch it. This is a new product in our store. The price listed is just a preliminary price.”
Marina Lane’s hand awkwardly hovered in mid-air before she withdrew it slightly.
After leaving the Rean family, she continued to work hard at the company every day, but she received only a modest salary. As a result, her life remained quite difficult.
At that moment, Will Jordy glanced at the clerk coldly and said, “Take it down and let her try it on.”
Although it’s just a short sentence, it still carries the tone of an order.
After saying that, his phone suddenly rang. He glared at the clerk in a furious manner, then walked out of the store.
The clerk was momentarily stunned. Although she was reluctant, she knew she couldn’t afford to offend this man.
Some, impatiently, took down the goose-yellow dress and threw it right onto Marina Lane.
Marina Lane clenched the dress in her hands tightly. Her gaze turned cold, and she asked through gritted teeth, “You must be the owner of this place, right?”
The clerk, still not understanding, immediately straightened up, tossed his hair back with his hand, and couldn’t hide his pride. “Not yet, but soon.”
Someone like her, who often meets people from high society, naturally hopes that one day she too can marry into a wealthy family and live a life of luxury.
Suddenly, I thought that although this woman might be a bit plain-looking, she certainly had good taste.
“So you’re not the boss after all. But do you realize that by treating customers like this, your boss will find out?” Marina Rain sneered dismissively, her eyes filled with mockery.
The clerk immediately became furious. He grabbed Marina Lane by the arm, and the two of them started to struggle.
Suddenly, there was a “click” sound.
The clerk immediately panicked. She threw the torn piece of fabric on the ground and pointed at Marina Lane, shouting loudly.
“You ruined the dress! You need to pay for it!”
Marina Lane: “......”
……
Meanwhile, Will Jody stood outside the door, giving a few instructions to the manager of the neighboring Gold Vault Jewelry Store.
After hanging up the phone, she turned around and saw through the glass that Marina Lane seemed to be in trouble. Her eyes narrowed in concern, and she rushed inside angrily.
Will Jody stepped up to Marina Rain and asked softly, “What happened?”
Marina Lane lowered her gaze and sighed helplessly. “Someone framed me and ruined my dress…”
Hearing this, Will Jody turned his head and gave the clerk a cold look.
The clerk’s gaze immediately shifted away, and he couldn’t help but feel nervous.
