Chapter 4 L City Won’t Be Peaceful Anymore
Inside the church, countless guests stood frozen in place.
Looking at the body on the ground, blood pouring out, murmurs gradually rose around them.
"He... he really killed him?"
"Right in front of Albert... Victor actually dared..."
"He's done for! Didn't he think about the consequences?"
"Mr. Gregory, Louis is my uncle and your devoted subordinate. You must avenge my uncle!"
Albert's face turned dark, his eyes vicious like a venomous snake.
Everyone in L City knew Louis was his man. Even when beating a dog, you have to consider its owner. This Victor guy was publicly humiliating him!
But with four guns aimed at him, he didn't dare move. He could only glare at Victor furiously:
"Victor! You're way too arrogant!!!"
Victor ignored his words completely, holding Sophia tightly.
After a long moment, she pushed Sophia away from her embrace, her voice gentle.
"There's a car at the back door. You leave first."
Sophia suddenly gripped Victor's hand tightly, her eyes full of worry and reluctance.
"No! Victor, I don't want to be separated from you again. If we're leaving, we leave together!"
"Listen to me!"
Victor smiled indulgently, gently stroking Sophia's hair. "Do you really think he can hurt me?"
"Darling! If you die, I won't live either!" Sophia looked up at Victor before her, cupping his chiseled face with both hands. "Promise me!"
"I promise!" Victor said solemnly, lowering his head to kiss Sophia's forehead deeply.
With that promise, Sophia finally felt at ease. Under the escort of Victor's men, she left through the back door.
"Stop right there—"
Albert roared, "None of you is leaving today!"
Victor looked at him with a cold smile. "You'd better worry about yourself first."
Albert's eyes swept over the four people pointing guns at him, his fists clenched tight.
Suddenly!
He threw his body sideways and shouted, "Open fire—"
Outside, the hundred-man army he brought opened fire in unison.
Bullets dense as rain!
Golden points of light poured down.
In an instant, the church was shot full of holes.
The guests all ducked under tables, into corners, and behind statues at the first moment.
Victor and his men also took cover immediately.
The hundred-man army advanced toward the church while suppressing them with firepower.
Albert took the opportunity to escape, coming to the front of his troops.
His eyes gleaming with triumph, he laughed loudly, "Haha! Victor, this place will be your grave today! I'll have the priest pray for you! Hahaha!"
At his signal, many guests also escaped through the church's side door.
The entire church was now surrounded by Albert's men.
Victor had become a turtle in a jar.
"Victor, you can't escape today!"
"Hmph! He brought this on himself! Can't blame anyone else."
"For a woman, he threw his life away. How stupid!"
Countless guests assumed the posture of spectators.
In their view, Victor was doomed today and would surely die in the church.
However.
Just as over eighty percent of the troops pressed into the church.
A thunderous boom suddenly came from above the church dome!
The church collapsed with a roar.
The troops had no way to retreat in time.
The next moment, over a hundred screams rang out almost simultaneously.
"Ahh—"
"Oh, shit!"
"What's happening!"
The ground shook.
Debris flew everywhere!
In this tremendous noise, the church turned into ruins!
Albert's face went deathly pale.
He had brought over a hundred men!
Now the casualties had exceeded half.
How would he explain this to his father when he returned?
But at least Victor should be dead too, so his father probably wouldn't punish him.
But just then, Albert's pupils shrank in shock.
Because he saw, in the thick smoke and mist above the ruins, over a dozen blurry figures were gradually appearing as the mist dispersed.
The figure of the person in front was strikingly similar to Victor!
It's him!
Is he not dead?
"This is impossible!"
Albert unconsciously took two steps forward, wanting to see clearly the figures in the mist.
But before the smoke cleared, gunfire already burst from within.
Bullets carrying golden light shot out from the smoke.
Over a dozen of Albert's men were killed on the spot!
"No!"
"Victor! I'll kill you! I'll tear you to pieces!"
Albert lay on the ground, dodging those bullets while roaring hysterically with red eyes.
He ordered his men to open fire.
So both sides shot at each other across the smoke caused by the church's collapse.
People on Albert's side kept falling.
Soon, the gunfire gradually stopped.
The smoke also completely cleared.
But Victor was long gone.
Albert led the remaining dozen or so men rushing onto the ruins.
"Where is he? Where is he? Find him!"
After the dozen soldiers cleared the ruins, one came to report.
"Report, we haven't found the bodies of Victor or his accomplices."
"Useless! A bunch of good-for-nothings!"
Albert kicked him hard and shouted at the sky, "Victor! I won't let you go..."
The guests who could still stand watched with heavy hearts, falling silent one by one.
Victor wasn't dead!
Even with such a huge difference in numbers between the two sides, they still couldn't kill Victor.
This showed how terrifying his methods were.
"Victor, he knew all along that Albert would come, so he planted explosives at the top of the church?"
"He's back! That legendary man is back!"
"Sigh, looks like L City won't be peaceful for quite a while."
Albert felt his cheeks burning.
He had brought over a hundred men, but couldn't catch a dozen people. This undoubtedly nailed him to the pillar of shame. He felt everyone looking at him with mockery.
This humiliation was Victor's doing!
He clenched his fists hard and said through gritted teeth:
"Victor! I will kill you!"
"Search! Use this place as the center and search outward. Victor can't have gone far!"
Meanwhile.
On a street 1000 feet from the church.
In a van.
Sophia held Victor tightly, tears streaming down.
"God! You're okay! Thank goodness..."
Victor kissed Sophia's lips and ordered the driver to go.
But Sophia panicked, "What about Anna, Ivan..."
Victor comforted her with a smile, "Don't worry, I've already taken them to a safe place. I'll take you to see them now!"
Sophia's tears flowed even harder, "That's wonderful! Victor, thank you!"
Soon, the car stopped in an empty alley.
The door opened. Sophia and Ivan stood by the roadside.
"Mommy!"
"Anna!"
