Chapter 3 Chapter 3. Encounter with the Sky Dragon Emperor

The Dragon Emperor raised his hand, and suddenly a red light entered Ren Ji’s chest. “A body without a spirit seal is the perfect vessel; an ordinary human body is too weak to receive my legacy.”

“Arghhh….” Ren Ji clutched his chest; the pain struck again, but this time it was very different.

Warm energy began to flow throughout his body; his bones cracked. His muscles tightened, and even the wounds on his body slowly healed.

Ren Ji’s eyes widened as he felt something moving inside him. For the first time in his life, he sensed spiritual Qi.

“Starting today, you will learn the Sky-Devouring Technique.”

An ancient scroll appeared before Ren Ji, its surface covered in red script—the forbidden Sky-Devouring cultivation technique.

“A… forbidden technique?”

“A technique that can absorb the energy of heaven and earth. This technique devours everything.”

“C-can I do it?” Ren Ji asked nervously.

The Dragon Emperor’s gaze turned cold. “Human, monster. Even your gods would be able to do it.”

Hearing that, Ren Ji’s heart pounded violently. He could feel the terrifying pressure from those words; this technique was not something an ordinary human should possess. “Why are you giving me such immense power?”

The Dragon Emperor smiled faintly. However, that smile felt eerie. “Because I want you to take revenge.”

Suddenly, a murderous aura filled the room; images of war and seas of blood reappeared in Ren Ji’s mind.

“Take revenge on whom, Sir?”

“The gods betrayed me. They destroyed my clan, then sealed my soul in this place for thousands of years.” The Dragon Emperor’s red eyes stared straight at Ren Ji.

Ren Ji stared as if unable to believe what the figure before him was saying. He clenched both fists. His family had also been killed; the thought of revenge flashed through his mind, but since he lacked the seal, he could only bury it deep within his heart.

“Become my heir, ascend to the pinnacle of the world, and shatter the heavens.”

Silence filled the room; Ren Ji bowed his head in silence. If this had happened a few hours ago, he might have been terrified. But now, something filled his chest. Not fear, but rage at all the humiliation he had endured all this time.

Contemptuous glances, punches, kicks, and a sense of helplessness. Slowly, Ren Ji raised his head. “I don’t care about gods, but if anyone tries to trample me again… I will destroy them.”

A faint red aura began to appear around his body. For the first time, the Dragon Emperor laughed; the sound of his laughter shook the entire tomb. “Good! That is the gaze of a Dragon.”

Suddenly, the Dragon Emperor transformed into light and reentered Ren Ji’s body. “I’ll sleep for a while; don’t die before you’re strong enough!”

The red light slowly faded, and the room fell silent again. Ren Ji stood up slowly. Yet, everything now felt different.

His hearing was sharper, his body lighter. Warm energy swirled within his chest. Ren Ji clenched his fists. The air around him trembled, and his eyes widened. “This power…”

As Ren Ji was surveying his surroundings, a sudden rumbling sound echoed from outside the tomb. The ceiling began to collapse. The tomb was about to crumble; he had to run out immediately.

As soon as he reached the gate, the entire tomb collapsed behind him with a massive explosion. Dust filled the air; Ren Ji gasped for breath as he stared at the ruins.

However, before he could think, the sound of footsteps was heard from behind the trees. “Find him! That light couldn’t have appeared for no reason; make sure there’s no one else around.”

Ren Ji’s expression changed; he recognized that voice immediately. It was one of the Black Cloud Sect’s disciples—specifically, the most well-known one, Zhao Feng.

Ren Ji immediately hid behind a large rock, his breathing slowing. Through a crack in the rock, he saw Zhao Feng and several elite disciples entering the area.

Zhao Feng’s sharp gaze swept the surroundings, then his eyes stopped right where Ren Ji was hiding. A cold smile slowly appeared on his face. “I found you.”

Ren Ji’s heart immediately began pounding; Zhao Feng’s voice was soft. It was enough to make the air around him feel cold. His body tensed behind the large rock. “Damn it! How did that man find me?”

Footsteps slowly drew nearer; two other elite disciples followed behind Zhao Feng, swords in hand. Their gazes were filled with murderous intent.

“Come out on your own, or I’ll drag you out like a dog!” Zhao Feng ordered with a sneer.

Ren Ji gritted his teeth; there was no way to escape. If he were caught now, the secret of the dragon’s tomb would surely be exposed. And when that happened, he would undoubtedly be killed without hesitation. He took a slow breath, then slowly stood up from behind the rock. “Are you looking for me?”

Zhao Feng’s expression immediately turned mocking; his eyes narrowed as he saw Ren Ji’s clothes covered in dust and blood. “So you’re still alive! What are you doing here?”

Ren Ji didn’t answer; he just stared at them calmly. There was no longer any trace of the fear he’d once felt.

However, that calmness only made Zhao Feng frown. There was something different about the trash in front of him—his gaze and aura were so serene.

“Answer!” snapped one of the elite disciples, drawing his sword.

“I was merely carrying out the Sect’s orders,” Ren Ji finally spoke up.

“Hah? A lowly servant like you ventured into the Forbidden Mountain and survived?” Zhao Feng chuckled, waving his hand dismissively, then his gaze turned sharp. “Did you find anything here?”

“No,” Ren Ji replied, his heart skipping a beat, but his face remained impassive.

Zhao Feng’s aura erupted instantly, and a spiritual pressure slammed into Ren Ji’s body. Normally, such pressure would have brought him to his knees. This time, however, he merely took half a step back and remained standing tall.

Zhao Feng’s eyes narrowed immediately. “You…”

The other disciples also looked surprised, “That aura didn’t make that trash fall. How is that possible?”

Ren Ji himself was a little shocked; in the past, he hadn’t even been able to breathe under Zhao Feng’s pressure. Yet now, he could withstand it. Though difficult, the Dragon Emperor was right. His body had changed.

Zhao Feng’s gaze slowly filled with suspicion; he raised his sword slowly. “Something has happened to you! It seems I’ll have to cut you open and find out.”

Zhao Feng’s body darted forward, his sword heading straight for Ren Ji’s neck at lightning speed.

However, Ren Ji suddenly caught the movement clearly. Faster than he could have imagined, his body’s reflexes moved on their own to dodge his opponent’s sword.

Zhao Feng’s sword narrowly missed Ren Ji’s face, causing him to widen his eyes. “How did you do that…?”
