Chapter 5 Battle Against Zhao Feng

Ren Ji’s expression remained unchanged, but the figure who had once been timid now gazed defiantly at the two elite disciples of the Black Cloud Sect.

“Look at that! This trash has actually found an ancient relic!” Their eyes immediately filled with greed.

Zhao Feng smirked. “I’m surprised a rat like you even made it this far.”

Zhao Feng scanned the entire room, then his gaze settled on the dragon symbol on Ren Ji’s forehead. His smile vanished instantly. “What did you find?”

Ren Ji didn’t answer; he just sat there silently. But this time, it wasn’t out of fear—it was because he was holding back his anger.

All this time, he’d been beaten, insulted, and humiliated. And the person who’d done it most often was Zhao Feng.

“I’ll give you one last chance—hand over all the treasures you’ve found.” Zhao Feng stepped forward.

Ren Ji slowly raised his head, and their gazes met.

For the first time, Zhao Feng sensed something different—Ren Ji’s eyes no longer showed fear. Quite the opposite. There was a calmness that made him uneasy.

“What if I refuse?” asked Ren Ji without turning his face away from Zhao Feng.

The room fell instantly silent, then the two elite disciples burst out laughing. “This trash dares to defy Senior Zhao. I guess he’s tired of living.”

Zhao Feng’s expression turned cold. “I’ve already given you a chance.”

Zhao’s body shot forward instantly, a long sword appearing in his hand. A flash of steel sliced through the air at lightning speed.

If this were the Ren Ji of the past, he wouldn’t even have seen the attack coming. But now it was different. His eyes followed every one of Zhao Feng’s movements clearly, as if the world had slowed down.

“Channel your qi into your legs,” the Dragon Emperor’s voice echoed in his mind.

Ren Ji moved on reflex; suddenly, Zhao Feng’s sword whizzed right past his body.

The sword strike missed. Everyone froze; even Zhao Feng himself was taken aback. “Huh?”

Ren Ji had dodged it with ease—even though it should have been impossible.

Zhao Feng’s expression changed. “You can cultivate?”

Ren Ji didn’t answer; his body shot forward.

Now it was Zhao Feng’s turn to be shocked—Ren Ji’s fist struck his stomach, sending him flying backward several meters. Blood immediately spurted from his mouth.

The two elite disciples’ eyes widened—what had just happened? Their senior had been struck by a servant.

“Impossible—you’re asking for death.” Zhao Feng rose to his feet, his face furious, his spiritual aura erupting.

Third-level Body Refinement Realm spiritual Qi filled the room, causing the sword to tremble. Then a red light began to appear along its blade.

“Blood Sword Technique,” muttered the Dragon Emperor.

Dozens of red energy slashes shot toward Ren Ji, instantly shattering the entire stone corridor. Yet he remained standing calmly. For the second time, he sensed the power of the Sky-Devouring Technique. And that technique seemed insatiable.

“Stretch out your hand,” the Dragon Emperor’s voice sounded cold.

Ren Ji complied, raising his right hand. Suddenly, a small black vortex appeared in his palm, and all the incoming sword energy was immediately sucked in.

“Huh, how is that possible?” Zhao Feng froze as his sword energy vanished just like that.

Ren Ji himself was surprised. However, he also sensed that some of Zhao Feng’s energy was entering his body and flowing through his meridians, becoming his own power.

Ren Ji’s heart was pounding; this technique was truly capable of devouring another person’s energy.

Fear began to show on Zhao Feng’s face. “Are you using a demonic technique?”

However, before Zhao Feng could step back, Ren Ji suddenly appeared right in front of him. A punch struck the chest of the Black Cloud elite senior disciple.

The sound of cracking bones echoed, and then Zhao Feng coughed up fresh blood as he was flung back and slammed into the cave wall.

The other two disciples immediately panicked. “Senior Zhao!”

However, they didn’t dare to approach because Ren Ji’s aura now felt terrifying—like a monster that had just awakened.

Zhao Feng tried to stand, but his legs trembled. For the first time in his life, he felt afraid of Ren Ji. “Don’t come any closer!”

Ren Ji walked slowly toward Zhao Feng, step by step, his eyes cold. “Zhao Feng, do you remember when you hit me?”

Ren Ji’s steps closed the distance between them. “I’ll stay silent.”

Ren Ji took another step. “When you insulted me… I also remained silent.”

With one final step, Ren Ji now stood directly in front of Zhao Feng. A dragon’s aura began to emanate from his body. “But today… I won’t stay silent anymore.”

Zhao’s face grew even paler. “Wait—”

But it was too late; Ren Ji’s fist struck him in the head. A loud cracking sound echoed throughout the cave. Zhao’s body fell motionless to the floor.

In silence, the two elite disciples stared at Zhao’s corpse with pale faces.

Ren Ji was also silent; this was only the second time he had killed someone. His feelings were mixed, but before he had time to think, the dragon symbol on his forehead glowed.

Energy from Zhao Feng’s body suddenly flowed toward Ren Ji, activating the Sky Devouring Technique on its own.

Ren Ji’s eyes widened as Zhao Feng’s spiritual energy was absorbed into his body, and his power began to rise.

Meanwhile, deep within the Forbidden Forest, a pair of giant red eyes slowly opened. A terrifying, ferocious aura spread in all directions.

A high-level monster had awakened and was heading toward the dragon’s tomb.

A rumbling sound came from outside the cave, and Ren Ji stepped out, followed by two elite disciples.

“What was that sound?” asked one of the elite disciples in a whisper.

Ren Ji stepped outside and looked up at the sky; birds were flying overhead. Soon after, a howl rang out not far from where he was standing.

Ren Ji raised his hand as a signal for the two elite disciples to be quiet.
