Chapter 6 Ren Ji killed Zhao Feng

Ren Ji stared at the two elite disciples now standing beside him. He said nothing. Then he walked back into the cave.

Ren Ji stood motionless in front of his enemy’s corpse, blood still dripping from his fist.

Meanwhile, the two remaining elite disciples trembled in fear; they had never imagined they would live to see the day Zhao Feng was defeated—let alone killed by a servant.

“This can’t be…” One of the disciples took a few steps back, his face deathly pale.

“Senior Zhao has fallen,” said another disciple.

Ren Ji slowly raised his head; his gaze made the two disciples even more terrified.

To them, he was no longer a weak servant, but a monster.

“Run…!” one of the disciples suddenly shouted.

Both immediately ran out of the cave without looking back.

Ren Ji didn’t chase after them; he simply watched as they disappeared into the dark passageway.

“You made a mistake,” the Dragon Emperor’s voice echoed in his mind.

Ren Ji furrowed his brow, a sign that he was thinking hard. “Let them go?”

“Yes. Now the entire sect will know you killed Zhao Feng.”

Ren Ji fell silent; he knew that. However, at that moment, his mind was focused solely on the battle. He hadn’t had time to think about the consequences.

“Get ready. Starting today, your life will no longer be peaceful.”

Ren Ji clenched his fists; he realized that if this news reached the sect, the elders would surely investigate. If they discovered the dragon’s legacy, he would definitely be hunted down.

However, Ren Ji didn’t have time to think any further. The ground suddenly shook violently. The entire cave wall trembled, and dust rained down from the ceiling.

Ren Ji immediately became alert. “What was that?”

The Dragon Emperor was silent for a moment, then his voice sounded serious. “Is that monster heading this way?”

“What monster?” Ren turned toward the entrance, where the passageway was dark.

Meanwhile, outside the Forbidden Mountain, two elite disciples were running as fast as they could toward the Black Cloud Sect. Their breaths were heavy with fear.

As soon as they arrived at the sect’s gate, the guards were immediately startled. “What happened? Why are you injured?”

One of the disciples immediately shouted, “Senior Zhao Feng is dead!”

The guards were shocked to hear this, and one of them asked, “Who killed him?”

The disciple swallowed hard, then answered with a trembling voice, “Ren Ji.”

Those words struck like a bolt of lightning in broad daylight; everyone who heard them froze. “Ren Ji, that servant? Impossible!”

The two disciples recounted what they had seen—how Ren Ji had suddenly been able to cultivate, the strange technique that absorbed energy, and how Zhao Feng had been killed with a single blow.

More and more disciples gathered; the news spread at an incredible speed in less than an hour, throwing the entire Black Cloud Sect into an uproar.

In the Elders’ Hall, an old man in a black robe slowly opened his eyes. His gaze was as sharp as an eagle’s. He was Elder Mo.

A high-ranking member of the sect was standing there when suddenly a disciple knelt before him. “Reporting to Elder Mo, Zhao Feng has been killed.”

Elder Mo showed no reaction and asked, “Who did it?”

The disciple looked at Elder Mo hesitantly, then replied, “Ren Ji.”

For the first time, Elder Mo’s eyebrows twitched; the name sounded familiar, and he said, “Ren Ji.”

Elder Mo stroked his white beard as he tried to recall—Ren Ji was just an ordinary servant, nothing more. “Are you sure?”

“Both witnesses said the same thing, Elder.”

Elder Mo slowly stood up, a powerful aura radiating from his body. The room immediately felt heavy. “Interesting!”

Elder Mo now stood near the window, gazing toward the Forbidden Mountain. Honestly, there was something illogical about this report. “A servant without a spirit seal suddenly killed a core disciple? Impossible… unless?”

“Unless what, Elder?”

“That young man discovered something on that mountain—something of immense value. It seems the Forbidden Mountain holds a secret,” said Elder Mo.

“Then what should we do, Elder?”

Elder Mo walked toward the hall’s entrance. “Have people stand guard here; I’ll go alone.”

The disciple was startled to hear this. “Are you sure, Elder?”

Deep within the forbidden mountain, Ren Ji had just emerged from a cave. However, his steps halted as he saw fallen trees strewn across the path ahead of him.

The ground shook violently, and from the darkness of the forest emerged a giant bear three meters tall. Its black fur was suffused with a demonic aura.

On its bare forehead, a blood-red eye stared directly at Ren Ji with a hungry gaze.

Meanwhile, the Dragon Emperor’s voice rang out coldly. “The three-eyed demon bear. If you want to live, fight!”

Ren Ji stared back just as intently at the demon bear; perhaps before he had gained his powers, he would have fled in panic at the sight of a bear. But now, he felt not the slightest bit of fear.

“Am I going to eat it, too?” Ren Ji asked softly.

“Defeat that bear in your own way, for when facing an enemy, there is no room for mercy,” replied the Dragon Emperor.

Ren Ji, who understood, nodded immediately. He now returned the fierce glare to the bear, which seemed ready to devour him at that very moment.

Suddenly, the bear lunged toward Ren Ji, but surprisingly, his body suddenly shifted to the side, causing the bear to strike only air.

The demon bear’s growl sent shivers down its enemy’s spine; drool dripped from its mouth, signaling its readiness to attack Ren Ji.

“This is your first enemy, son.”

Ren Ji took two steps back and began to study the demon bear’s gaze. His eyes widened as a black mist enveloped the demon bear. “W-what is that?”

“You will die by my hand, young man,” said the three-eyed demon bear.

“You can talk?” asked Ren Ji, completely taken aback.

Before Ren Ji had a chance to think further, the voice of the Dragon Emperor suddenly rang out. “Remember the Sky-Devouring Technique. Your energy will increase if you can defeat him. Can you do it?”
