Chapter 7 The Divorce Procedures Are Completed

Felix said, "You need to treat Eloane's mental illness."

Cecilia frowned.

She wasn't completely confident she could cure Eloane and didn't dare agree rashly.

"You just need to do your best," Felix added.

Hearing him say this, Cecilia felt relieved. "Okay, I agree."

The deal was done.

The first thing Cecilia did after leaving the hospital was call Miles. "Manhattan courthouse, ten o'clock. I don't want to see you late."

"Cecilia, the company has an international conference today, and Grandma's heart hasn't been doing well lately..." On the other end, Miles sounded irritated, with his usual excuses. "We can handle the divorce paperwork anytime. Can you not cause trouble right now?"

Such flimsy excuses.

Cecilia let out a short, cold laugh. "Miles, by dragging this out, are you planning to keep Thea as a mistress in the shadows forever? Or do you think she doesn't deserve the title of Mrs. Sterling?"

The other end went silent instantly.

A moment later, Thea's weak, tearful voice could be faintly heard. "Miles, I'm fine. As long as I can be with you, the title doesn't matter..."

"Ten o'clock. I'll be there on time." Miles abruptly hung up, clearly hit at his most painful spot.

At the courthouse entrance, when Miles got out of the car, his face looked terribly dark.

Thea held his arm, her eyes slightly red, looking completely wronged.

The paperwork went quickly.

When the divorce certificate was handed to Cecilia, she felt the huge weight that had been pressing on her chest for three years instantly shatter, and even breathing became easier.

"What are you planning to do from now on?" Miles stood beside her and suddenly spoke.

Cecilia ignored him and turned to leave.

"If you need money or anything else, you can tell me," he said again, his tone carrying a sense of charity.

"What kind of good guy act are you putting on now?" Noelle, who had come along, couldn't hold back anymore and rushed up to Miles. "In these three years, did you ever care about her once? Did you ever have a birthday meal with her? Did you ever pour her a glass of water when she was sick?"

"Now that you're divorced, you're pretending to care. Don't you find that disgusting?"

Miles's face turned dark with anger, unable to say a word.

Thea bit her lip, tears glistening in her eyes. "Cecilia, I know you're resentful, but you can't blame Miles entirely. The one who isn't loved is the real third party."

"Look at that—only someone truly shameless could say something like that. Scumbag and homewrecker, you two better never break up, so you don't harm anyone else!" Noelle rolled her eyes and deliberately mimicked Thea's tone.

Thea's entire face flushed red with anger.

Cecilia pulled Noelle back and gave her a relaxed smile. "Don't waste your breath on trash."

With that, she put the divorce papers in her bag and walked out of the courthouse without looking back.

Miles watched her retreating figure, somewhat dazed.

During this time apart, he kept feeling that Cecilia had changed, but he couldn't say exactly how.

His heart felt empty, as if he'd lost something, and he couldn't calm down for a long time.

All of this was seen by Thea, and a flash of malice crossed her eyes.

As soon as Cecilia got in the car, she called Roman, asking him to help look for suitable housing.

Felix's orders had already been given, and Roman's efficiency was extremely high.

"Ms. Cecilia, this property just became available. Excellent lighting, top-level security, rent is only two thousand dollars a month." Roman smiled as he handed over the keys.

In the same area, two thousand dollars wouldn't even rent a basement.

Cecilia's hand paused in mid-air as she looked up at Roman. "Who lives upstairs?"

Roman scratched his hair and gave an awkward laugh. "It's Miss Eloane."

Cecilia knew clearly that this was definitely Felix's arrangement. By providing her housing at an extremely low price, he both solved her difficulties and made it convenient for her to interact with Eloane.

This man's mind was incredibly meticulous.

She accepted the keys.

This quiet, comfortable apartment became her base for starting over.

...

A few hours later, in the Sterling Group CEO's office.

Miles sat at his desk with several urgent documents on it.

Director Carter pushed open the door and walked in with a thick envelope, looking anxious.

"CEO, the supply chain contract in Europe has expired. We need Cecilia to go communicate with them again."

Miles looked confused. "What does this have to do with Cecilia?"

Carter stood there stunned and sighed heavily.

"You had no idea? Three years ago, Sterling Group's cash flow broke and the company was about to go bankrupt. It was Cecilia who put aside all her pride, worked five days and nights straight, used her own connections, went everywhere begging for investment and stabilizing the supply chain! She saved this company and specifically told us never to take credit in front of you!"

These words hit Miles hard in the chest, and he stood up abruptly.

He had always thought he was the one who turned things around during the crisis three years ago.

He thought Cecilia only knew how to arrange flowers and cook at home, completely clueless about company business.

Seeing Miles's bad expression, Carter didn't continue and just put down the documents, shaking his head as he left the office.

Miles's hands and feet went cold.

He pulled open the bottom drawer of his desk, where several old notebooks were kept.

He opened the pages—they were filled with market analyses, client weaknesses, and response strategies that Cecilia had compiled.

Cecilia's neat handwriting recorded every detail of the negotiations.

His mind went blank with a roar.

Miles remembered that during that time, Cecilia was always leaving early and coming home late. He thought she was just wandering around outside and had even scolded her for not fulfilling her duties as a wife.

He remembered her sitting exhausted on the sofa with obvious dark circles, clearly not having rested well, but he had never taken it to heart.

He remembered the words she wanted to say but didn't, which ultimately just became "get some rest early."

It turned out that in places he couldn't see, she had carried everything alone.

A sharp, stabbing pain spread from his heart, making it almost impossible to breathe.

Miles grabbed his phone from the desk and pulled up Cecilia's number. His finger hovered over the green call button, trembling, unable to press it.

He didn't know that Cecilia had already completely blocked all his contact information.
