Chapter 8 Finally Let Out a Sigh of Relief

On the other side, Cecilia answered the call from the notary office.

"The Manhattan apartment transfer is complete. The property is now fully under your name."

She hung up, grabbed her car keys, and headed out.

Manhattan, Strand Apartments.

Cecilia held the property transfer documents issued by the notary office, with four burly security guards standing beside her.

The door swung open. Inside the living room echoed the laughter of Thea's mother, Katarina Wilde.

Cecilia strode in and tossed the documents onto the coffee table.

"This property is entirely mine." Cecilia's gaze was cold. "Take your trash and get out."

Katarina's smile froze on her face. She shot to her feet, pointing her finger right at Cecilia's face.

"Who the hell do you think you are! This is the house Miles left for our Thea! Security, throw this crazy woman out!"

The security guards didn't follow her orders.

The head of security stared coldly at Katarina. "Sorry, Ms. Laurent is the only owner we recognize. Please leave immediately."

Hearing this, Thea's father, Benjamin Wilde's face turned ashen.

He stepped forward to argue but was grabbed by two security guards who dragged him toward the door.

"Let go of me! Do you know who I am!"

Katarina completely abandoned her lady-like act and simply collapsed on the floor, throwing a tantrum, her hands clutching the table leg tightly.

Thea stood in the corner, biting her lower lip hard, her face looking terrible.

She knew clearly that continuing to argue would only make things more embarrassing.

She swallowed her humiliation, stepped forward to take her mother's arm, and spoke in a low voice.

"Mom, enough. Miles gave away this apartment just to throw money at the problem so she'd divorce him quickly. This woman is clinging desperately, so Miles did this to get rid of her faster. In his heart, he only has me."

These words forced some dignity back for the Wilde couple.

Cecilia completely ignored this group's self-directed drama. She raised her hand to signal the security guards behind her.

The guards moved efficiently, hauling Thea's family along with all their luggage scattered on the floor, and threw them all out of the building.

The door slammed shut, completely cutting off the cursing from outside.

Sterling Manor.

Katarina collapsed on the sofa, crying loudly to Rosalind, telling her what happened at the apartment.

"Rosalind! Look how arrogant that bitch is! She brought people and threw us out! Even threw away the things Miles bought for Thea!" She deliberately exaggerated the story.

Rosalind trembled with rage, her coffee cup crashing heavily onto the table. "That bitch, what right does she have to take the Manhattan apartment!"

Rosalind grabbed her phone and dialed Cecilia's number.

Only a mechanical tone came through the receiver.

Cecilia had blocked this number long ago.

Rosalind's face twisted with rage as she hurled her phone at the wall, the screen shattering into pieces.

Meanwhile, at Yale University.

After handling those matters, Cecilia changed into a business suit and started work at Yale University's counseling office.

In the few days since starting, she hadn't seen Eloane, but quite a few students had come by out of curiosity after hearing the news.

Her stunning looks and cool demeanor quickly made her a campus sensation.

Long lines often formed outside the counseling office, though few actually came for real psychological counseling.

Cecilia flipped through the materials in her hand, looking quite relaxed.

She hadn't felt this relaxed in a long time.

Compared to being a housewife, working as a counselor was much easier, making Cecilia feel like she was back in her college days.

Outside in the hallway corner, Corinne stopped in her tracks, hugging a few books.

Through the door crack, she saw clearly the woman sitting inside.

Corinne's eyes widened, her face full of shock.

When did Cecilia become a counselor at Yale University?

She immediately pulled out her phone and called Rosalind.

"Hello, Mom, that bitch Cecilia is actually working as a counselor at Yale University!"

"What?! Corinne, are you sure it's that bitch?"

"That face of hers, how could I possibly not recognize it!" Corinne said through gritted teeth, furious.

Rosalind on the other end laughed. "Come home first. We'll talk about this slowly."

……

Evening, new apartment.

Cecilia received a call from Roman.

"Ms. Cecilia, I heard you've moved into your new place. I was wondering if you're free today? Could I come by and take a look?" Roman's tone was casual.

Cecilia thought for a moment. "Noelle's here too, actually. I'm preparing dinner."

The kitchen was filled with delicious aromas as Cecilia and Noelle prepared ingredients.

The doorbell rang. Cecilia wiped her hands and walked to the entrance to open the door.

Three people stood outside.

Roman held expensive wine, his face full of smiles.

Standing beside him was Felix with his upright posture, the man wearing a dark coat, his presence still commanding.

And behind Felix hid a girl who seemed mentally unstable.

The girl clutched tightly at Felix's coat, half her body hidden in shadow. She kept her head down, her eyes timidly studying Cecilia.

Felix turned slightly to the side, his voice low. "This is my sister, Eloane."

Cecilia understood immediately.

This wasn't just a simple housewarming visit at all—it was Felix's carefully arranged first meeting between her and Eloane.

Cecilia stepped aside to let them in, her face showing a warm smile. "Please, come in."

Roman saw the two busy in the kitchen and rolled up his sleeves on his own. "Is there anything I can help with?"

"Oh please, don't make things worse." Noelle pushed him away without courtesy.

Cecilia looked at the three extra people at the door. The food she'd originally prepared clearly wouldn't be enough.

She thought for a moment and had an idea. "Let's do fondue tonight. More people makes it livelier."

Roman's heart sank when he heard this.

He instinctively looked at Felix. Felix had severe germaphobia and hated this kind of food where all ingredients were mixed together.

He was about to make an excuse when he heard Felix's deep voice.

"Okay."

That one word froze Roman's expression on his face, his eyes full of disbelief.

During the meal, the atmosphere was unexpectedly pleasant.

Noelle raised her glass and waved it at Felix. "Thanks for helping when Cecilia was sick last time. I thought someone like you would be hard to get along with, but you're actually pretty easy."

Eloane quietly studied Cecilia.

This was the first time her brother had brought her to meet a strange woman, and the first time she'd heard anyone describe her cold brother as "pretty easy to get along with."

She finally gathered her courage and asked softly, "Cecilia, how did you and my brother meet?"

Cecilia smiled. "We met by chance."

This casually spoken sentence opened up Eloane's chatterbox, and the two chatted back and forth.

Felix watched his sister's long-absent liveliness, his eyes softening a bit.

This was the first time since Eloane's illness that she'd actively talked this much with a stranger.

Suddenly, Felix used his utensil to pick up a piece of beef and placed it in Cecilia's bowl. "You're too thin. Eat more."
