Chapter Five

Vivian's Pov.

After we agreed on the deal, he told me to be ready by 8am the next day because he'd send someone to get me, and then he left.

I collapsed on the sofa in the waiting room, speechless.

I pinched my face to make sure I wasn't dreaming.

I would finally be able to go to college, fulfill my dreams and the best part, I wouldn't have to worry about money.

But, how bad were his grandsons that they needed a babysitter?

He didn't even answer me when I asked about their age. Maybe they were still in high school and were going through that teenage phase.

What if they didn't listen to me? He did say I'd get paid either way so I guess it wasn't much of a problem if they didn't.

Lost in my thoughts, I didn't notice when Lisa entered. She gave me a small smile.

“He left already?” She asked.

“Yeah, he did. We finished talking.” I signed back.

She nodded and sat down close to me. “You look like you've seen a ghost. Is everything alright?” She placed a hand on my shoulder, looking worried.

“Yes. The man came to offer me a deal.” I told her, folding my legs so I would be facing her directly.

“What deal?”

“He wants me to teach his grandsons manners.”

“What?”

“Yeah. In exchange, he's willing to clear it all. My debts, I mean. Plus, I get to go to college, and he's paying my tuition fees. He said he'd cover up all the expenses.”

“You mean, a contract?” She asked and I nodded.

“It's just for a year and I walk away with one million dollars.” I signed and saw her eyes widen.

“Are you sure about this?” she asked me and I quickly nodded.

“It's my one shot of going to college. I have to take it.” I signed and she nodded in understanding.

“It's alright, sweetheart. It'll be okay.” She said, smiling at me.

“Thank you for supporting my decision.” I signed, feeling grateful for her support.

“It's not a problem, Vivian. So, when do you leave?”

“Tomorrow morning. He's sending someone to pick me up.”

“Okay. You better head home then. The exhibit is over already.” She said, standing up and I did the same. We said our goodbyes and then, I left the exhibit feeling lighter than I usually felt.

When I got to my apartment, I took my time looking around. Tomorrow, I won't be here. Memories filled my head but I shook them away. I'd be starting a new life tomorrow.

I needed a shower.

I went to my bedroom, took off my clothes and hopped into the shower. The cold water cascaded down my body and I felt a chill.

After my bath, I returned to my bedroom with a towel wrapped around my hair and a robe. I took out my phone and searched Mr. Falcouns up.

Sure enough, I saw that he was one of the richest and most popular men in the city. He is a billionaire and owns massive business enterprises. And he also has three grandsons. But weirdly, none of their pictures were on the net.

“Are they ghosts?” I muttered to myself. “There's pictures of him here but none of his grandkids?”

After scrolling and not getting any pictures of the boys or men I'd be spending the next one year with, I released a frustrated sigh and threw my phone on the bed.

Then I realized that Mr. Falcoun never asked for my address. Did he know where I lived? That's possible seeing that he also knew about me being selectively mute.

Pushing the thoughts aside, I climbed off my bed and started piling the little clothes I have into my suitcase. Once I finished, I changed into my pajamas and went back to bed.

Soon after, exhaustion settled in and I slept off.

The next morning came faster than I expected. There was a knock on my door. I sighed, almost raining curses on the person who had dared to interrupt my sleep.

Standing up, I headed to the door, opening it slightly to see a man in a tailored suit and dark glasses standing at the door

“Good morning, Miss Vivian. Mr. Falcoun asked me to pick you up.”

Immediately, my sleepy eyes were wide open. Mr Falcoun, the contract. Was it already 8am? I looked at the man, wondering if he would understand me if I signed. So instead, I spoke.

“Give me a few minutes, I'll be outside shortly.” He nodded and walked away. I went back to my bedroom, stripping out of my clothes and entering the bathroom.

After a quick shower and a change of clothes, I rolled my suitcase and took a quick glance at my apartment. I'd miss this place. Opening the door, I found the same man waiting for me.

Without a word, he carried my suitcase towards… Oh my Gawd, a freaking Porsche was in my yard. I saw the way my neighbors and people stared at the car. Who could blame them? It looked amazing.

The man popped the trunk and put my suitcase in. Then, he moved to the passenger seat and opened the door. I was so stunned he had to call my name.

“Miss Vivian, we're on a strict time frame. Please, get in”. He said calmly. I could only nod as a response. Once I was seated, he fastened my seatbelt and then moved to the driver's seat, entered and started the car.

We sped off in silence. From this view, I took in the beauty of the city. After thirty minutes of driving, I saw him pull up to a private dock.

“Umm, excuse me…”

“You can call me Blake, Miss Vivian.”

“Okay, Blake. Why are we here?”

“Mr. Falcoun asked me to take you directly to the penthouse his grandsons are staying in.”

“Then, why are we at the docks?”

“Because the penthouse is located on an island. And so is the college you will be attending.” He replied calmly. For the second time this morning, my jaw dropped. A penthouse, an island and a college on an island.

This was not what I expected.

He opened my door and I stepped out. Then, he collected my suitcase and led me to a Dinghy.

“It's the fastest way to the island. We would have used one of the ships but there's no time.” I quietly nodded. We entered and he started the engine.

The boat rowed gently towards the massive island.

“This island belonged to the owners of the Brooksville College. One of the most prestigious colleges in the country.” He said when we got close to the island.

“And that's where I'm going?” I asked him, wide eyed.

“Yes, Miss.” We sat in comfortable silence till we pulled up at the dock of the school. This place was magnificent. Its beauty was on a whole other level. Blake carefully carried my suitcase out of the boat and held out a hand to me which I accepted.

“The penthouse is not far from her, so we walk.” He said and led me through a path. We finally arrived at the penthouse and dare I say it was enormous. Not to mention beautiful.

We got to the door where he inputted a code and the door opened. He stepped in first. And I heard a familiar voice inside.

“Well, if it isn't Blake Chester.”

I almost had a heart attack at the sound of that voice. I stepped in and saw his eyes widen with recognition.

“What the fuck is she doing here Blake?” Angry sapphire blue eyes looked between Blake and me.

Oh my God, it was that asshole from that night.
