Chapter 38
“Elena, what do you want?” King Harvey whispers as I pull away from our passionate kiss. His silver eyes clue me in on what he wants.
“I am very glad you are better… and you read rather elegantly…” Blushing, I release his face and move to not be leaning into him anymore.
He twists in his chair fully to face me and picks me up by my waist, to place me in his warm lap.
“Wrong way, Elena.” King Harvey whispers in my ear as he leans down to press a slow kiss to the pre-mating mark on my neck.
A feverish fire explodes through my body, and I gasp, trying to control the undeniable desire to lie down and let him have his way with me. It is a thunderbolt of desire that has taken over my body and soul.
I don’t have to turn to face him, he simply rearranges me, I realize he is using his dominant right hand. Is he healed fully?
“Your arm, King Harvey!” Whispering to him, I barely press my fingertips to the massive muscle that is his right bicep.
The skin of his arm is smooth and cold to touch, there is not an ounce of sweat on his masculine face.
“Mostly healed, no?” King Harvey drowns me in another kiss, leaving me trembling. Wrapping my arms around his neck, I dig my hands into his barrel chest to hear him growl gently. “Do not tempt me, Elena.”
“Behave, King Harvey.” I breathe to him and lift my head up to rub my nose against his. I have never done that before but watching how his eyes light up and return to their natural brown, it is a trick I will keep locked away.
Apparently, this calms him.
“I am well, mostly, Elena. I am sorry you had to witness that.” King Harvey’s hand runs up and down my back soothingly and he tilts his head to the side in question. “Are you healed?”
“It no longer hurts…”
“We are very close to our mating ceremony, Elena.” King Harvey says softly. “Do you feel prepared?”
“I still have fears of the pain, or failing you, King Harvey.”
“No, Elena,” King Harvey replies sternly. “My heart has picked you; you will not fail me.”
“What if… it doesn’t fit…?”
King Harvey lovingly brushes the tears of fear that roll down my face and leans in to kiss away the trail of tears. Leaning into his attentive touch, I do feel loved. If anything, I feel spoiled by him.
I know how foolish that sentence sounds, but that is the biggest fear I have. This and failing my luna training. I need to learn how to heal.
A glance at the table shows that King Harvey has left the candle for me, and I will practice. I can always ask King Harvey for help. There are so many things I must learn.
“I will be gentle, Elena.”
“Your werewolf blood could take over!” I breathe. “That can be very scary!”
King Harvey frowns deeply. “I know, Elena, but recalling our night together in that hotel, I hesitated because I will not hurt you, I transformed to protect you. My werewolf blood is to protect.”
“…but you can hardly control yourself sometimes, King Harvey.”
“I will not harm you, Elena, believe me.” King Harvey hugs me rigorously to his chest and rocks me soothingly. “I love you far too much to hurt you, Elena.” King Harvey whispers to me and I melt.
Burying my face in his tree-trunk neck, I find peace.
“I believe you, King Harvey. I love you too. I don’t like to harm you.”
King Harvey smiles at me. “We are doing a fitting today for your wedding attire, are you ready?”
“Yes.”
In four steps, King Harvey has us back in that room that his parents wedding outfits were in. In one flick of his wrist, a red velvet tuxedo appears from behind King Harvey’s dad’s suit, but the suit has the lapels as black, and the cufflinks have the wolf-head on them.
King Harvey steps in the suit in another blur, and I know he is purposely making it so I can’t see him. The suit is slightly big on King Harvey, and the sleeves are too long. As he turns, I see on the back of the suit is a golden embroidered wolf, but a woman is embracing the wolf…
“King Harvey?” I inquire, unable to speak very loudly.
My throat closes and I feel dizzy. Why is he doing this?
“Do you like the surprise, Elena?” King Harvey asks innocently as he snaps his cufflinks in place.
“Yes, it is very beautiful…”
“Elena, try on the dress.” Doris says.
Turning to the front door, I see Doris is standing there, with a measuring tape around her neck, and a pen and notebook in hand. She is taking notes.
Doris whispers to King Harvey about the size of his suit and I blush.
“Uhm… can I change alone?” I blush as King Harvey smiles at me.
Doris guides him out the room with a huff when he purposely walks slowly, making me blush harder.
The dress behind his mother’s dress is a simple long sleeve dress, with a veil that has the same embroidered wolf and woman on it. I have no time to marvel at this, I get changed quickly.
Doris returns as soon as I adjust myself and King Harvey is not far behind.
The way he looks at me sends a shockwave of heat through my body and I sit down to not run into his arms. Doris asks me about the dress, and I muddle through her replies, the dress is not my priority, King Harvey is.
His gaze is enough to burn me like the lava burnt him. His glowing silver eyes overflow with desire and want, that he doesn’t even attempt to hide. His fanged grin of joy leaves me half feral.
He loves me… and I want to love him back fully.
I stare at Doris as she explains the dress needs to be shortened slightly and the sleeves are missing a few embellishments.
King Harvey and I are whisked off to a rehearsal dinner of chicken and rice ten minutes later, but King Harvey’s gaze remains relentless and fiery throughout. When he leans over to stare at me as I lean over to collect a fork, I know I am in massive trouble.
