Chapter 5

Fox lunged forward in a flash.

Before Jace could react, he grabbed both of Jace's wrists, yanked hard, and pushed.

Jace's arms were instantly crippled.

A scream echoed through the banquet hall!

Fox didn't stop there. As Jace opened his mouth to wail, he lifted his foot and kicked Jace's knees.

Two more crisp sounds, and Jace collapsed to the ground.

The piercing pain threw Jace into complete terror.

"Bastard, do you want to die? I'm a baron, a nobleman! How dare you lay hands on me?"

William stepped forward slowly, raised his foot, and pressed it directly on Jace's chest, "Baron? In my eyes, you're nothing but a wild dog!"

As soon as those words came out, the banquet hall erupted in shock.

The Novaria elites who had retreated several meters away whispered among themselves.

"Who is this young man? He doesn't even care about Mr. Turner, a baron?"

"The Taylor family—didn't he ignore the Taylor family too?"

"Could this young man be the son of some earl?"

"Impossible. Even an earl wouldn't dare kill someone casually at such an event, right?"

"Terrifying, absolutely terrifying!"

William paid no attention to the surrounding chatter. He looked down at Jace, who was grimacing like a wild beast, and asked, "Speak. Where exactly is Emily?"

Before Jace could answer, seeing things going badly, Heath immediately put on a flattering smile, "Sir, please don't be angry. Emily is in the dressing room. I'll go get her right now. Could you please let go of Mr. Turner?"

William looked at Heath's scheming face and gave Mellivora a look.

Mellivora immediately stepped forward and grabbed Heath's shoulder, "Lead the way."

Heath quickly turned around, trembling all over, "Yes, yes, I'll take you there."

Daniel panicked.

Looking at Jace with his limbs broken, and at William's calm face, he had pretty much guessed that this young man's status was likely more prestigious than Jace's.

Combined with William's demand, Daniel's mind raced, and he stepped forward to probe, "Sir, what exactly is your relationship with Emily?"

William didn't answer, only gave Daniel a look that said he shouldn't ask too much.

Daniel quickly smiled apologetically, "Don't misunderstand. I can tell you and Emily must be close friends. If I'd known earlier that Emily had a friend like you, would today's situation have happened? To be honest, the Taylor family has hit a bottleneck in business. With no other choice, we had to resort to this, and Emily suffered for it."

Daniel was trying to gain sympathy.

Heath and Mellivora brought Emily before everyone—her cheeks swollen, blood still on the corner of her mouth.

Emily was wearing a white wedding dress, but her face showed endless despair and sorrow.

When she stood before William, Emily froze instantly.

She bit her red lips with her teeth, her eyes full of barely concealed hatred.

William hadn't expected that eight years later, he would meet Emily again under these circumstances.

Their eyes met.

Despite having a thousand words to say, William couldn't speak them.

Emily, on the other hand, had bitten her red lips until they bled.

After staring at William for more than ten seconds, she suddenly walked up to him, raised her hand, and slapped him hard across the face.

Both Hound and Fox were stunned.

When the slap was less than three inches from William's cheek, Fox finally snapped out of his shock.

As the personal guard of the King of Assassins, his job was to prevent anyone from harming William.

Anyone—including Emily!

After Fox grabbed Emily's wrist, William turned his head and said with a trembling voice, "Let go!"

Fox saw tears glistening in William's eyes. Despite his many questions, he chose to obey.

After releasing Emily's wrist, Fox stepped back.

Emily held her right hand high in the air, tears falling from her eyes like raindrops.

Eight years!

Only she knew how much she had suffered these eight years.

Nearby, Daniel, Heath, and the others, seeing this scene, began calculating in their minds.

After Emily gradually calmed down, images of two children flashed through her mind.

She lowered her hand, turned to face her parents, then knelt before Daniel and Juniper, "My children, my children, please, let me see my children!"

Fox stepped forward and reached out to help Emily up, "Madam, Lord has already sent people to rescue the children. They'll be fine."

Daniel and Juniper immediately looked at Hound, but their expressions showed more guilt and unease.

Jace, lying on the ground, burst into laughter.

"Rescue the children? What a joke, what a huge joke! Emily, let me tell you the truth. When your father gave you to me, I only made one condition. Do you know what it was?"

Emily rushed to Jace in tears and grabbed his collar, "Tell me, what condition did you make?"

Jace sneered, glancing at William from the corner of his eye, "Listen carefully. The condition I made was to kill those two little bastards on our wedding day!"

Emily's heart shattered instantly. She got up from the ground and rushed to Juniper like a madwoman, no longer caring about her dignity as the Taylor family's daughter. Like a shrew, she grabbed Juniper's collar, "Tell me, what did you do to my two children? Tell me! They're my children after all. They called you grandma for years! How can you be so heartless? Damn you! I'll kill you all!"

Jace laughed even louder, "Emily, oh Emily, what's the use of killing them now? Your two children are probably already dead by now!"

Seeing Emily's emotional breakdown and her crying uncontrollably, William stepped forward and gently grabbed her wrist, "Emily, trust me. The children will be fine. Before I came, I sent people to rescue them. I'm sure you'll see them soon. I promise!"

William's voice wasn't loud, but it gave people a sense of security.

Emily turned her head with a questioning look, "What gives you the right to promise?"

William spoke slowly, "I promise you with my life!"

Jace, enduring the pain throughout his body, sneered, "Boy, who do you think you are? Your life? Let me tell you, your life means nothing to the Garcia family!"

William looked at Jace, "A wild dog, still barking at death's door! Fox, call Cheetah. It's been so long—hasn't he completely wiped out the Turner family yet?"
