Chapter 126 03

ELSIE

The car dropped me off at the front gate of Adrian’s mansion, I made my way in with guards giving me pitiful stares.

I stopped at the front door letting out a breath I didn’t know I was holding before twisting the knob and pushing the door open I walked into the silent environment with just the sound of my heels clicking against the marble floor.

I walked into the living room but my steps came to a halt, the photographs were gone every single one.

The wedding, anniversary, family portrait, even lily’s pictures were gone too.

It was like I had never been here It was like I never existed… Adrian has really outdone himself.

He really had everything planned out, he was so eager to let me go and I had been so stupidly in love to notice and now I was paying the price for it.

“Elsie” Rosa the house keeper calls out snapping me out of my train of thoughts.

I turned back watching her walk upto me with a pietiful look.

“Yes?”

“Mr Cross said to inform you to leave as soon as possible, he said you can’t spend the night” she says avoiding my gaze.

“What? Where am I suppose to go by this time of the night?” I asked my voice cracking.

She looked away, “Those were his orders”

I bit on my lower lip fighting back the tears. “Did you also know about this Rosa? Did you know about his affair?”

“I—“

“Don’t like to me!”

She sighs before nodding.

I blinked back the tears before turning on my shoes and running up the stairs to my bedroom stopping at the sight of my clothes packed, everything of mine sealed in the box even my books were packed while everything that was his was still in place.

I stood in the middle of the room and looked around with my libs quivering before I knew it I losed balance crashing to the ground as silent painful tears begin to slip feeling the remaining part of me break.

“How could you Adrian!?” I cried out getting up and grabbing the nearest box and I throwing it across the room.

The box hit the wall and burst open and my clothes spilled everywhere. I grabbed another box and threw it too and another and another.

"Seven years!" I screamed at the empty room. "Seven years of my life!"

I kicked the box on the floor. "Seven years of sacrifices!”

I grabbed the velvet pouch with my jewelry and threw it at the mirror causing the mirror to crack.

"Seven years of your family treating me like I was dirt! Seven fucking years of tolerating your family’s bullshit!"

I sat down on the floor again breathing hard with my hands shaking.

"Why did I do it?" I whispered. "Why did I give up everything for you?"

I thought about the gala the way Adrian had embarrassed me infront of the whole world while he stood with his mistress and my daughter.

Lily.

My baby.

She looked at me like I was nothing, like I wasn’t the one that gave birth to her. She chose Sienna the woman who destroy our family and I couldn't even blame her.

She was six she didn't understand. She was being manipulated and told that Sienna was better but hurt, it hurts so much .

“I loved you!" I screamed. "I loved you so much and you threw me away like I was nothing!"

"I gave you everything," I whispered. "I gave you my whole life Adrian Cross, how could you do this to me? How could you plan this for two years? Two fucking years of distance, of me questioning myself if I was being a good wife while you were with her and I didn't know."

I laughed a broken and sad sound.

"I was so stupid," I said. "I was so stupid and so blind."

All the late nights. All the times he came home and said he was tired. All the times he pulled away when I touched him it was because of her.

"I was too in love," I whispered. "I was too in love to see what was right in front of me."

My grandfather warned me about Adrian, he said he wasn’t the one for me but i didn't listen.

I thought I knew better.

I thought Adrian loved me regardless of our different social status.

I thought I could prove everyone wrong but I was so stupid.

I gave up everything.

And for what?

For a man who humiliated me in front of the world, for a man who looked me in the eyes and lied to me, for a man who never loved me but loved an idea of me… aversion of me that didn't exist.

“How could you do this to us Adrian!? How? After everything?” I started crying again crying as much as I could before grabbing my purse and pulling my phone out.

I opened it and scrolled through my contacts and then I found the one name I needed.

Grandpa.

I pressed call it rang once twice, trice… I almost hung up before he answered.

"Elsie?"

"Grandpa," I said.

"Elsie what happened? You’re everywhere on the news, what did that bastard do to you?"

I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out just tears.

"Elsie? Elsie talk to me."

"I'm sorry," I said. "I'm sorry I didn't listen to you… I should have never trusted him, you were right. You were right about all of it."

There was a long pause.

“Grandpa? Are you there?”

“Yes”

"I'm coming home."
