Chapter 297

Studying the ancient text of the White Wolf book became my daily ritual.

With each passing day, I delved deeper into its pages, absorbing the knowledge and wisdom it held within.

When I had told Lucas that the book was finally unlocked, he was ecstatic, and recommended that Professor Black teach me more.

Thanks to Lucas, Professor Black had become somewhat of a teacher, helping me decipher the intricate spells and teachings hidden within its ancient script.

Even though he couldn't see the pages himself, I practiced rewriting and retracing everything for him to the best of my ability so that he could help me.

"Professor Black, I need your help with this passage," I'd say, flipping through the pages of the book as he leaned in to listen attentively. Together, we would dissect the ancient text, discussing its implications and applications in our world.

His involvement in my studies caused him to visit the palace much more frequently.

Alex quickly recognized the value of having Professor Black as an advisor, and the professor's role within the palace grew more prominent. His insights became valuable to Alex who relied on him for guidance on all sorts of matters.

Despite his responsibilities, Professor Black's presence brought me comfort.

He was a familiar face that reminded me of my life back home, so seeing him on a daily basis made things feel more normal. And as we worked together to unlock the book's secrets, I felt grateful for his support, knowledge, and guidance.

Together, we pored over the mystical contents of the book, unraveling its secrets one page at a time.

"Liam!" I called out as I spotted him walking through the palace courtyard. "I need your help."

He turned, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "What can I do for you, Shana?"

"I need to learn how to create and manipulate portals," I explained eagerly. "There's a chapter in my book that discusses them. It says it's crucial to my role as the guardian of the kingdom, but it doesn't explain how to create a portal."

A smile spread across Liam's face as he nodded in understanding. "I'd be honored to teach you. Does Alex know about this?"

I nodded. "Alex told me he wants me to learn everything the book has to offer. Plus, if you teach me this you won't have to be my portal chauffer anymore."

Liam chuckled. "I don't mind traveling through the portal to get you. It only takes me a few seconds."

"But it's an inconvenience to you, and I'm sure if I learned how to do it... things would be much easier."

Liam's smile widened at my eagerness to learn. "Alright, Shana, let's get started. Creating and manipulating portals is no small feat, but I believe you're up for the challenge."

I left Professor Black behind as Liam and I tried to find a quiet corner in the courtyard.

Liam began to explain the fundamentals of portal magic. "First things first, you need to understand the energy flow and manipulation required to open a portal. It's all about tapping into the magical currents of the universe."

I listened intently, absorbing every detail as Liam demonstrated the hand gestures and incantations necessary to weave the spell.

"It's fairly simply to get the hang of, but you must recite the words accurately. Otherwise, the magic won't work."

"So, that's what you do?" I asked.

Liam nodded. "Exactly. Opening portals requires precision and focus. It's not just about waving your hands and chanting words. You have to connect with the energy around you and guide it to create a pathway between two points in space."

I furrowed my brow, trying to grasp the intricacies of what he was explaining. "And how do you know where the portal will lead?"

"That's where the visualization comes in," Liam explained patiently. "You have to picture the destination clearly in your mind while casting the spell. The magic will then align itself with your intent and create a portal to that specific location."

I nodded, feeling a sense of determination bubbling within me. "Alright, let's give it a try."

With Liam's guidance, I focused my thoughts on a distant corner of the palace courtyard, visualizing it as vividly as I could. I then mimicked the hand gestures he had shown me

"Now, focus your energy," he instructed, guiding my movements with his own. "Visualize the space you want to connect to, and let the magic flow through you."

I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath to center myself. Drawing upon the teachings of the White Wolf book in combination with the things that Liam had taught me, I channeled my energy.

A surge of power coursed through my veins, and I felt the air around us shimmer with potential.

"Now, say the spell," Liam prompted, his voice barely above a whisper.

With the whispered words, I felt the air shimmer and warp as the portal began to take shape. A surge of excitement coursed through me as I watched the portal materialize before my eyes.

"Why does it look like that?" I questioned, noticing the rainbow of colors that appeared.

"Everyone's portal looks different, depending on the person," Liam explained. "It looks like yours is very colorful."

I marveled at the vibrant hues swirling within the portal, each color pulsating with its own unique energy. "It's beautiful," I breathed, unable to tear my eyes away from the mesmerizing display.

Liam nodded in agreement. "Indeed it is. Your portal reflects your inner strength and vitality, Shana. It's a reflection of who you are. A reflection of your energy and your spirit."

Pride swelled within me at his words. To think that something as simple as a portal could be a manifestation of my own essence was both humbling and inspiring.

"Can I go through it?" I asked, eager to test the limits of my newfound ability.

Liam nodded, a smile playing at the corners of his lips. "Of course. Just remember to focus on your destination and visualize it clearly in your mind."

I followed Liam's advice and visualized the location that I wanted the portal to lead to.

"You're doing it, Shana," Liam encouraged, his voice filled with pride. "Now, step through."

With a deep breath, I stepped forward, feeling a rush of anticipation as I crossed the threshold of the portal.

As I emerged on the other side, I found myself in the distant corner of the palace courtyard, exactly where I had envisioned.

I couldn't contain the grin that spread across my face. "I did it!" I shouted across the courtyard to Liam.

He grinned, his eyes sparkling with pride. "You certainly did, Shana! I knew you had it in you! Try traveling back!"

I followed Liam's instructions and materialized the portal again. Visualizing the spot I was just standing in next to Liam, I walked through the portal.

As I stepped through the portal, a rush of exhilaration swept over me, accompanied by a tingling sensation that coursed through my veins.

With each step, I felt the fabric of reality shift around me, transporting me back to the exact spot where Liam stood waiting.

"Welcome back!" Liam exclaimed, his grin widening as I emerged from the portal.

"That was incredible!" I exclaimed, my voice filled with excitement. "I can't believe how smooth it was!"

Liam chuckled, patting me on the shoulder. "You're a natural, Shana. With a bit more practice, you'll be opening portals like a pro."

I beamed at his words, feeling a sense of accomplishment wash over me. The ability to create and manipulate portals was a powerful tool, one that would undoubtedly prove invaluable in my role as the guardian of the kingdom.

"Thank you, Liam," I said sincerely. "I couldn't have done it without your guidance."

He waved off my thanks with a smile. "Anytime, Shana. Now, let's see if we can fine-tune your technique. There's still much to learn."
