Chapter 7 Always A Jerk

Dawn’s Point of View

“Do you think now that your mother is getting married to my father, you are now my equal?” he asked curiously and I just blinked back at him in confusion. “Do you believe that you would have some kind of power over me? Or do you think for a minute that things would be different for you in school?”

“All of that don’t matter to me.” I responded calmly. “I don’t care about your status in school, and I don’t want to be seen as anything close to you. I’m just doing my job as the sports committee president.”

“You act like you don’t care but I see how you are happily unpacking your stuff.” He chuckled bitterly. “You’re both shameless.”

“I’m not my mother.” I retorted sharply . “And don’t talk like your father is a child, he knows exactly what he is going for. They are getting married because they love each other. “

“Don’t bullshit me.” He snapped, still looking at me with those contemptuous eyes. “Love is not even a real thing—if it was your boyfriend wouldn’t have traded you for a kiss with Dorothy.”

I felt a sharp impact against my chest from the weight of his words. He reminded me of Felix’s betrayal, it has been four days since he kissed Dorothy and denounced me publicly.

And even though I had been desperately trying to forget it, I just couldn’t.

Now this blue eyed devil just casually reminded me of everything that hurt me.

“If you know what’s good for you, you would tell your mother to stop the wedding.” He drummed his fingers against the table top.

“I have tried but it’s beyond my power.” I confessed but he shrugged as if my complaint was none of his concern.

“I’m going to fucking ruin everything you have worked so hard for.” He promised, and my chest heaved because this threat seemed different from the rest. “You should enjoy being in this seat because you won’t be president for long.”

And with that he got up and left.

I sat in my chair unable to wrap my head around it all, because how is this even my fault?

“Are you going to really suspend him?” Sandra asked me curiously, holding some files to her chest as we walked toward the entrance of the court. “He really needs to be active in the training.”

“Logan is a natural talent but at the same time we cannot allow that get into his head.” I answered almost immediately. “He needs to know there are consequences for his actions, and we are not going to baby sit him all the time—I want him to grow up.”

“The team aren’t very happy with the suspension.” Sandra noticed. “This is going to affect the team spirit, and if we are not careful the game.”

She was right, but at the same time, I didn’t like that he is always challenging my authority.

I’m the president of the committee; I don’t know why a random players keeps messing with me.

“Then what about Johnson?” I queried.” Doesn’t he have any right to participate? Because he is not Logan? Because he doesn’t have those flashy moves and the face all the girls wants to fuck?”

A sharp air expelled from my nose and I shook my head, Sandra unable to respond.

“I’ll inform the rest of the committee and whatever decision that is made over the night is what I’ll do.” I answered and Sandra nodded, we pulled each other into a hug when we got outside the door. “I’ll see you in school tomorrow.”

“Hey, Dawn.” I heard Luther’s voice the moment I stepped into the living room, even though Logan had left the training ground hours before I did, he wasn’t still home.

Not that I cared, he didn’t even seem like the type to come home early.

He’s probably out with his friends, doing shits in clubs.

“Don’t you want to join us? “

“Nah, I’m not hungry.” I say casually but before I could leave mother called me back.

“It’s rude of you to refuse your step father,” she scolded me. “He is only asking you to join us because he is trying to welcome you into the family. It’s our first day and you’re already being a brat.”

“Come on, don’t be too harsh on the girl. “ he nudged her softly. “Look at her she is probably tired. Don’t worry Dawn, I’ll send someone to bring your food to your room.”

There would be no need for that because Mom was still glaring at me.

I hesitantly sat down at the table and some of the maids around us, brought an extra plate and I was served some food.

“So, tell me how do you like the house? “ Mr. Luther asked, he was unrealistically nice to me, I shook my head.

Trying to not think about it.

Because Jackson was nice like this in the beginning, he was kind and caring and would even help with little task

Then suddenly.

He became my nightmare.

“Dawn?” I heard Mom’s voice calling me back to the present.

“Uh! Sorry?” I quickly reached for a glass of water, gulping down on the colorless liquid.

“I was asking about the house.”

“It’s lovely. “ I commented, “It’s much better than our previous house.”

“Thank you, and I recently found out that Logan was your classmate.” He noted and I nodded. “I knew you attended the same school but I didn’t know you’d be in the same class. “

“Ah yes, I had no idea he was your son too. “

The conversation was awkward and I just want to go to my room.

“How would you say Logan is?”

He asked suddenly and I nearly choked on the food in my mouth, why would he ask me anything about Logan.

“He’s just there.“ I muttered. “He is very active in sports.”

“I’m talking about personality wise.” He corrected and I shrugged.

“He’s very popular—people love him.”

“People?” his thick eyebrows tugged up. “You sound like you don’t.”

My eyes flickered between mother and Luther.

“Of course, I do. “ A fake smile crawled on my face. “Who wouldn’t?”

Just as I was smiling, we heard footsteps and Logan waltzed into the room without acknowledging anyone, he climbed up the stairs probably to his room.

And he came down almost immediately, strolling out confidently.

“I won’t come home tonight.” He stated without even stopping to wait for permission.

My gaze flickered between mother and his father; the man see

med so disappointed.

I guess Logan is always a jerk.
