Chapter 2 2

CHAPTER 2: RUMI

"And I said back off already," Knox snapped again. His voice sounded like rocks grinding together.

"What is your problem?" I asked, trying to push past his legs. It was like pushing against a brick wall. Under his dark jeans, his legs were pure, solid muscle. Even with my wolf strength, I couldn't budge him an inch. I put all my weight into it, and he didn't even move.

Instead, he let out a low, quiet chuckle under his breath. He was mocking me.

"You think this is some comic show?" I dropped my heavy backpack onto the floor with a loud thud. "Where am I supposed to sit, then?"

Knox ignored me. He looked away, staring straight toward the front of the room. I stared at him, completely shocked by his attitude. Did this guy seriously think he owned the entire back row? Did he think no one else was allowed to sit here?

If he wanted to play games, fine. I wasn't a weak Omega who would run away and cry.

"Fine," I said loudly. "Then I'll just sit here."

I hopped up and planted my butt right on the top of his desk, sitting right in front of his face. I turned my back to him, facing the rest of the classroom.

"What the fuck?" I heard Knox growl behind me.

A bunch of students turned around to look at us, and a few of them started snickering.

"Get off," Knox ordered under his breath. I could feel the angry, hot breath of his wolf hitting my back.

"I can't," I said, crossing my arms. "I have nowhere else to go. The other desk is broken."

“Get off, or I'll move you myself."

I gripped the sides of his desk tightly, pressing my weight down and curling my legs underneath the top. I locked myself into place. "Go ahead and try, hockey boy."

Suddenly, two large, warm hands wrapped tightly around my hips.

No way. Was he actually going to physically throw me off his desk? I squeezed the wood tighter. I was not going to let go easily.

I looked down and saw his long, thick fingers spread out on both sides of my waist. His grip was firm, pressing hard into my skin before he easily lifted me up into the air.

I used every bit of my strength to hold myself down, but it didn't matter. Knox was dangerously strong. Within two seconds, my butt was completely off the desk. He was holding me up in the air like I weighed nothing. How was he doing that while still sitting down? How powerful was this guy's wolf?

“Sorry I'm late, class," a man said as he hurried into the room. He looked like the teacher. "What is everyone looking at?" he asked, noticing that every single student was staring at the back row.

"Let me go," I hissed through gritted teeth. I was still trying to hold onto the desk, but Knox’s strength was pulling my fingers away from the wood.

"Is there a problem back there?" the teacher asked, looking straight at me.

"I just need a seat, sir," I said, trying to sound calm even though I was furious.

Knox suddenly let go of my waist. Without his support, my butt hit the desk hard and I slid to the side. I quickly jumped to my feet before I could fall to the floor again.

“What's wrong with that empty desk right next to you?" the teacher asked, pointing to the window seat.

I was about to tell the teacher that this giant jerk wouldn't let me pass. But I didn't want to look like a tattle-tale to a new Pack. So, I just forced a fake smile and said, "Oh, I guess I just didn't notice it."

I turned to look at Knox. He had a tiny, arrogant smirk on his lips. Slowly, he pulled his long legs back just enough to leave a small gap. I grabbed my backpack from the floor and quickly squeezed past him to the window seat before he could try to trip me.

"Now that everyone is finally settled," the teacher said, turning to the board, "let's start by reviewing what we will learn this year."

I hurried to open my backpack. As I pulled out my things, a lip gloss slipped from my fingers. It rolled across the floor and stopped right next to Knox’s heavy boot. Great. Thank you, Moon Goddess

“Could you kick that back to me?" I whispered quietly.

Knox didn't move. He didn't even look at the item on the floor. Instead, he leaned farther back in his chair and pulled his black cap completely over his eyes.

What a total jerk.

I decided to ignore him. I grabbed my pen from my bag, opened my notebook, and quickly copied down what the teacher was writing on the board.

As the class went on, I looked over at Knox. He wasn't taking any notes at all. In fact, he looked like he was fast asleep. His head was down, his face was hidden by his cap, and his massive arms were crossed tightly over his hockey jersey. He acted like he ruled the whole school—and maybe he did.
