Chapter 2 Officially married
Kade POV
"You sure about this?" Raze asked for the millionth time. I don't blame her for doubting, though. Everyone thought I was crazy when I said yes. I have doubted myself since I agreed to this, but I knew it had to be done, and my feelings didn't exactly matter. So with another look at myself in the mirror, I nodded.
"Yes."
"There has to be something else, man. How can you stomach doing this?" She asked. I sighed. I understood her despise for the Hounds. Well, we all despise the Hounds, but Raze and Ryker's hate is on another level.
Our eyes met through the mirror, and I could still see the reluctance in her eyes. I was doing this either way. I picked up my jacket and put it on. I looked at the name embedded in it. My family's name. One of the reasons I was doing this.
I thought about him and how disappointed he would feel with all this. I quickly shook my head and then turned to look at Raze, who was still staring at me with that look of pity. For a badass biker, she had the softest heart among us. It was refreshing.
"Let's get this over with."
The church doors opened. I took a deep breath before I started walking towards the altar. My head held up high with each step. It was dead silent aside from the soft violin playing. The tension was so thick and obvious. Both sides itching to claw each other's face off.
My groom was at the altar, waiting for me. He had on the exact opposite of what I had on. The crest on his chest, that of a Hound. He was a fucking Black Hound. I was getting married to my enemy. The man who put a bullet in my fiancé's heart.
We both stared at each other when I got to the altar. I was dying to wipe the smirk off his arrogant face. One shot, one clean shot, and I could finally get my revenge against him, but I couldn't. Instead, I was marrying him, and as shameful as that sounded, I needed him.
Killa Slade. President of the Black Hounds Club. My number one enemy. The man who pulled the trigger. My soon-to-be husband.
"You look good, wife," his voice laced with mischief said. I never wanted to use my gun so much in my life, but I knew I couldn't, not with a church full of Black Hounds and Crucifers. Instead, I ignored him.
"Carry on," I told the priest, who looked like he wanted to pass out. I felt bad for him a little, he had no idea the kind of situation he was in. He started reciting the vows, but the words all blurred into background noise.
My eyes swept the crowd.
They landed on her. The reason I was still pushing. My lifeline. The reason I was staring at the devil and saying yes.
My daughter.
"Backing out, sweetheart?" His voice pulled me out of my thoughts. That was when I realized everyone was looking at me expectantly. The priest had asked the vows.
"Come again," I asked the priest.
"Kade Cross, do you take Killa Slade to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, till death do you part?”
Till death do us part. How fitting.
I stared into Killa's eyes—smoky, unreadable—and smiled.
“I do.”
His lips twitched. Not surprised. Not moved. Just… entertained.
"And do you, Killa Slade…”
“I do,” he said before the chaplain could finish, not looking away from me. He slid the ring on my finger, making this official.
I was tied to him now.
The crowd was dead silent. No one clapped or made a sound. It was obvious both parties didn't support the union.
I was startled when he wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me close. His lips slammed against mine before I could process what was happening. It was fast and rough. I could barely register what happened. His grip on my waist was strong and possessive, like he owned me now.
He pulled away and winked at my startled expression.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I give you my wife. Kade Cross." He announced to the crowd, voice smug. "Smile," he whispered to me.
I smiled and turned to look at the very disappointed crowd. I caught Nikita's gaze from across the room, and she gave me a nod. At least I had her support. Not that I needed it. I was the president, after all.
Killa and the Hounds think they've gotten a pawn. They think they control the narrative. If only they knew. I guess that's what they get for underestimating me. They always do.
This wasn't just a wedding. It's my ticket to revenge, and Killa just made it so much easier.
---
The reception wasn't any better than the wedding. My people were separated from the Hounds, and they made it known their stance in this whole situation. Killa and I were sitting at the couple's table designed for us.
"So, wifey, how does it feel being married to me?" Killa whispered to me. He has been trying to get under my skin, but I have been ignoring him. Which doesn't look like it's working because my grip on the knife was a dead giveaway.
"I won't mind being a widow," I replied, smiling at him. He raised his brow in amusement.
"Mama." My staring contest with Killa was interrupted. I slowly let go of the knife in time to catch her. She buried her face against my chest, and I held her so close like she was going to disappear. I kissed her hair before looking at Nikita, who walked her over.
"She's been begging to see you," Nikky said with a smile. The smile dropped when her eyes landed on Killa. "Slade."
"Daxton," he replied nonchalantly. I watched as different emotions danced in her eyes. It mustn't be easy staring at your son's killer.
