Chapter 3 Wedding Night
Kade POV
His house was nothing like I expected. I don't know what I thought I'd walk into, something as cold and imposing as the man himself, maybe, but this wasn't that.
It was still his territory, though. His rules, his walls, his name on everything.
JJ was asleep against my shoulder, worn out from a day too long for a five-year-old to understand. I held her a little tighter as the car pulled up the drive, and it finally dawned on me this was my new life.
The car door opened, and Raze took JJ from me before I got out of the car. I took a deep breath and looked around. This is real.
"You really did this, huh? You are crazy, OG," Raze said as we watched Killa get off his bike and make his way towards us. I ignored her because my mind was occupied with something else. I noticed the Hounds all over the compound, armed to the teeth. They weren't exactly welcoming. Well, a bunch of Crucifers in their territory would do the trick.
"Relax, love, they won't hurt you," he said as he got closer and noticed how alert I was. I shot him a look but noticed his eyes flicker towards JJ, just a moment. I would have missed it if I wasn't looking at him.
I chose to ignore it, but I will be watching him.
"They can try," I said, scoffing.
He shook his head and chuckled before making a hand gesture to follow him. Raze and I followed him while the guys stayed outside. I could only hope they don't kill each other. I was in no mood for that.
The inside of his house told me what I needed to know about him. He is a playboy. Something that will come in handy.
"I prepared the room just down the hall for her," he said, pointing at JJ. Raze glared daggers at him before going down the hall. I took a seat on the surprisingly soft couch while he leaned against the wall. We were both quiet and waiting.
A few minutes later, Raze came out without JJ this time. She looked between the two of us, and with a tilt of my head, she nodded and exited the room. It was long after I heard the sound of engines roaring to life, and with shots in the air, my family left.
"Why do I have a feeling you have something to say?" he said and slowly walked towards the chair opposite mine. We were now facing each other. "Hit me," he said with a smirk.
"Trust me, you don't want that." I said, matching his smirk. "The Hounds' books, I want in."
His smirk dropped as his face morphed into what I couldn't understand, but it definitely didn't look friendly.
"You can't possibly think I would agree to that?" His veins looked like they would pop any minute.
I leaned back against the couch in satisfaction. I had him where I wanted him, and it felt so fucking good. The bastard actually thought he had all the cards. They always underestimate me.
"Well, you want the Crucifers' routes, right?" I asked with a raised eyebrow. The shock on his face was so fulfilling. "Wait, you actually think I don't know? You honestly thought I had no idea what you are after?" I said with feigned innocence, pouting and blinking at him like a kid that was about to cry. "You wound me."
"Cut the crap, Kade. This isn't what we agreed on," he snarled, eyes low and dangerous. It was meant to scare me, but it honestly added to the thrill. I love it when it dawned on people who try to outsmart me that I don't play.
"Ah, there's the Killa I know." I smiled. I was finally dealing with the devil, not that silly facade he played in my office. This is the real Killa. "I would love to go and back and front with you, dear husband, but it's been a very tiring last few days, so I will make this simple. No books, no route. This wedding is a sham, don't forget," I said, standing up and cracking my knuckles because I was honestly tired.
He shot up as well and grabbed my arm before I could walk away. I felt a cold metal against my belly. He was pointing a gun at me. I smiled and nodded towards his neck. He slowly looked down and saw my knife planted firmly.
"Well, this is one explosive wedding night, husband. You sure know how to show a girl a good time," I said, feeling ecstatic. This was starting to be fun. "So what's it going to be, love?" I taunted with the same endearment he used earlier. If looks could kill, I would be six feet under.
"You are playing with fire, Kade." His voice was calm and low. That's when I knew I was pushing the right buttons.
"I love the burn." I said, pushing the knife harder, and he flinched, which made me smile even more. "We can do this all night." I shrugged. We stared at each other for a while, eyes burning and hands itching. I felt his gun retreat before I pulled my knife back.
I sighed before dusting off his shoulder while he watched me. I leaned close to his ear and whispered, "Let the fun begin."
I pulled back and stared at him. He was already staring at me. We were a few inches apart. "Like I said, I am tired, so I will look for a room to crash. Have a good one, husband."
I slowly backed away before going down the same corridor Raze took JJ. I shut my eyes and took a deep breath before leaning against the closest wall.
Killa was right about one thing. I was playing a very dangerous game. The thing is, I hated to lose, and besides, losing is not an option.
