Chapter 5 The Mother I Hates
Emily's pov
"I hate you." I glared at her, clenching my teeth so hard it could break any moment.
She stood up, walked towards the sink, turned on the tap and washed her bloody hands.
The water in the tub was already red, but I could feel my open flesh closing already. She's so lucky that everything she does to me heals without leaving a scar. That's why she only prefers to torture me by piercing my skin or cutting me open with any sharp object but she'll never use fire on me because it leaves scars.
She turned off the tap and used a towel that was seated on the counter of the sink to clean her hands.
"See my dear foolish daughter," she said, still holding the towel. "You can never hate me as much as I hate you."
Why do I have a selfish, evil and brutal woman as my mother.
"I already know you hate me mother. You remind me everyday by openly displaying your love and affection for Evelyn." I snarled, my knuckles clenching so hard that it drew blood as my nails pierced my palms.
"True." My mother nodded in agreement.
She dropped the towel on the counter of the sink, then she turned around and faced me, while resting her back on the sink.
"But do you know why I would always pick Evelyn and never you?," she said, pride dancing in her eyes as she mentioned my sister's name.
"Evelyn has everything you can never have in the kind of daughter I admire. You lack manners, etiquette and proper sense of a lady but your sister has all of that. I'll admit that you are more beautiful than she is but that doesn't mean you can ever get to her level."
Is this woman playing me right now? The fuck is she talking about.
"Evelyn went to fucking finishing school, Ma!
You and father never gave me a chance to be a proper lady. Not that is want to burden myself with such nonsense." I spat, my blood boiling as I kept staring into her eyes.
She gasped dramatically.
"You are already growing wings for you to be able to speak to me like that." She let out a dark chuckle.
She looked me dead in the eyes and said something I never imagined to come out of her mouth.
"You were a mistake Emily, you were never meant to be born. If not for your pathetic and stupid father, Edmund, you won't be here right now." She spat. Hatred flashing in her eyes.
"I never wanted another daughter. I always wanted a son as my second child but your father didn't let me terminate the pregnancy. I wanted to actually give you a chance. I showed you love as you grew up but after that fucking stunt you pulled when you were sixteen, I wished you had died and never returned."
Hurt filled my chest, it felt like my heart was being stabbed by a needle repeatedly. All my emotions were messed up as she said all that to me. I never asked to be born, neither do I deserve to be treated this way for something that isn't my fault.
No wonder my father treats me better than my mother, but he is still a dick because he knows what she does to me but never intervenes.
"Well I never asked to be born!" I choked out, tears streaming down my face like a waterfall.
Her eyes were on me. She had no look of remorse or even pity in her eyes.
"All we wanted to do was to introduce you to the supernatural world as our beloved daughter but your stupid self went into the forest and got kidnapped by a witch coven. Then you think you can just come back a year later, with a different eye color and expect everything to still be the same way you left?!Sometimes I even wonder why that witch coven let you leave without killing you."
Yes it is true. I was kidnapped six years ago, and she never fails to remind me that it was my fault.
Flashback to six years ago,
Six years ago, I heard a lady call my name and I followed the voice till I found myself in the forest that was a kilometer behind our house. I don't know why the forest is connected to our house but it is stretched out by thousands of miles in blackthorn but it is closest to our house. I lost my way after that but I felt a weird sensation creeping up my body and was about to run back to the house when everything suddenly went black.
But when I woke up, an entire year had already passed, even though it felt like only a few hours. I was laying in the same ground and still wearing the same clothes where I lost consciousness. I stood up and started walking then I heard my father shout my name, then he started running towards me with a torch light pointed at me. He hugged me tightly but when he got a good look at me, he frowned.
I learnt that father had been visiting the forest to see if I would return.
He took me home, and assigned a maid named Sarah to take care of me. When I got into my bathroom and looked into the mirror, I was stunned to see myself with blue eyes. Then I heard my mother's voice yelling at my father downstairs.
"What do you mean by she's back?!" My mum yelled at my father.
My father sighed. "I found her walking in the forest, Cordelia. I couldn't just leave her there."
"So you brought back a stranger with blue eyes into my home." She said in disbelief.
"She's still our daughter, Delia." My father tried to make her understand.
"Edmund! She doesn't have a single memory of anything that happened while she was away. I'm sure that is just an impersonator." She said.
"I won't accept this Edmund. She isn't my daughter and that is final." Then I heard her footsteps move farther away from where my dad stood.
Flashback ended,
When I returned, she didn't even act as if I existed. She would just glare at me or hit me for no reason but when Evelyn got back from finishing school, she shifted her full attention to her. I was very happy when she did.
"It's not my fault I got kidnapped, maybe it was your fault since you failed as a mother and left me to be on my own instead of watching me." I glared at her and wiped my tears with the back of my hand.
She took steady steps towards me and strangled me. Raising my naked body from the tub. I used my nails to claw at her hand as I tried to free myself from her but her grip was just too strong.
"Next time you ever disrespect me, I'll kill you and feed your body parts to the dogs." She threatened and flung me to the other side of the bathroom.
My body slammed into the wall with an unimaginable force that I felt my shoulder dislocate.
"Arghhhh." I groaned loudly in pain.
"Oh and don't ever lie to me again. Pick up your ball gown from wherever you hid it and give it to Sarah to get it cleaned up." She said before walking out and slamming the door shut behind her.
What a smart but horrible bitch!
