Chapter 6 Rogue attack
Coban's POV
The rogue attacks on the kingdom have increased throughout the years. What started out as a few a year has definitely doubled every year if not more.
Ever since Caden and I took over as kings when our parents died, rogues have tried to take over and overthrow us. Even some of our non-ally packs have joined in many of the attacks.
That's why the elders are trying to step in. Without an heir, whoever overthrows us and defeats us will take over the kingdom.
We still can't bring ourselves to take a chosen mate knowing our fated mate is out there somewhere. Hopefully, we find her soon.
See Caden and I know, since we are twins we will have only one mate having to share our mate, we are okay with that. Hopefully she will be as well.
"Coban" I say through the link as I'm running out the door. As soon as I made it through the door, I shifted into my Lycan, Conan. As an alpha Lycan king, my Lycan is much larger than a normal alpha wolf. We are double the size of a regular alpha wolf. Conan is a pure black Lycan.
"Caden, I'm headed for the south border, what's your location?" I said to him through our link. "Drake and I are here now. Damn brother, they are hitting us hard," he replies.
As my lycan makes it to the south border, we take in the sight. Bodies are everywhere. "Caden, try to keep at least one or two alive. We need answers." I say to him through our link.
"Easier said than done, these darn fools are going for the kill." My brother replies.
"Coban, I smell wolfsbane," Conan says to me. "Thanks buddy." I open up the link to my warriors. "Hey everyone, listen up. Conan smells wolfsbane. That means they may be using other substances as well," I say to everyone through the link.
"Damn fools, don't they know wolfsbane has no effect on a lycan." my brother says as he laughs through the link.
"Caden, it can still make us weaker. I suspect them to be using silver as well," I tell him.
"Got it. Everyone listen up. Fight with extreme caution as silver may be at play," my brother informs our warriors.
As we head into battle, we are cornered by three very large wolves. "Coban, these have to be ranked wolves. Their size is too large," Conan says to me. "I agree. Try to capture at least one alive."
Conan attacks the first wolf, a very large pure brown wolf. Conan leaped and ran his claws up his neck and across his face, literally ripping his head off his body. As we were fighting the first wolf, the second wolf came from behind and bit into the back of our leg.
Conan turns around, kicking the large grey wolf off his leg, then swiping his claws at his chest, ripping his heart from his chest. Just as we have his heart in our claws, the third wolf comes up on us from behind, leaps into the air and aims his jaws for Conan's neck.
Just as the rogue wolf begins to latch onto our neck, Drake leaps into the air and grabs ahold of the rogue's legs and throws him onto the ground. He then pins him to the ground.
"Mark the silver chains now," he says through the link.
"Damn thanks brother." I said to him.
"You couldn't live without me, brother. Admit it, you need me," he says. We both laugh at the situation as we are shifting back.
The fight only lasts a few more minutes until we have the last ones, either killed or in chains.
"Damn. What the hell was this about? Any idea who was behind this attack?" I said to Mark as he's walking up to us.
"They came all at once. While I'm not really sure everyone that was involved, there was a mark many of them wore. A tattoo on their upper chest," he explains.
"What was this tattoo? Were all of them wearing it?" my brother asks Mark.
"I'm really not sure how many had the mark. Of whom and what I noticed, there were quite a few. Not all had the mark though. Some have shifted already, so I can't tell you about them. The tattoo was a crescent moon," he said as he shook his head.
"That's the mark of the rogue king. They brand all their warriors with the same mark," Conan says to me.
"How many did we get alive?" I ask.
"We got three alive," Mark answered.
"Get them to the dungeons. Get them into silver chains NOW. We will be there shortly," I said as I turned to leave to go back to the palace.
