Chapter 5 Assassination

Charles, Sebastian, and the others were all standing outside the door.

When the door was pushed open, everyone's eyes turned in unison and landed on Leon.

"Leon, what did your grandfather say to you?"

Charles was the first to walk up with a smile on his face.

His gaze dropped down, and he saw Leon holding a document in his hand. He asked again, "What's that?"

Leon said the most teasing words in the calmest tone, "Guess. If you get it right, I'll tell you."

"You..." Charles's expression changed, and he was about to lose his temper, but he held it back.

"Leon!" Sebastian said angrily, "How dare you talk to my father like that? This is the Winston family, not a place for you to act wild! What are you holding? Let me see it!"

Leon glanced at him with contempt, threw out "Stupid guy," and walked away.

"Leon..." Sebastian immediately moved to chase after him, but was stopped by Alexander's voice from inside the room.

"Stop! Everyone, come in!"

Alexander had spoken, so everyone could only obey.

Charles's gaze kept following Leon's back, especially the document in Leon's hand.

He had an uneasy feeling that the document was extremely important.

That evening, Selena and Leon sat on the bed.

Selena was wearing pajamas, leaning on Leon's shoulder, holding his arm, and looking through Alexander's will.

"He really plans to hand over the Winston family to you?"

Leon let out a cold laugh.

"It's not that simple. Alexander must have some scheme."

Selena nodded.

"I think so too. Leon, you need to be careful..."

At this point, Selena's expression changed, and she immediately sat up.

Leon's face was equally serious.

Someone had entered!

The two looked at each other knowingly. As assassins, their perception and counter-surveillance abilities far exceeded those of ordinary people.

Selena looked at Leon, "Three? Four?"

"It's five now!" Leon said.

Selena pointed at the door, "I'll handle the three on this side. The two coming up from the balcony are yours."

Leon chuckled softly, "You're still so competitive."

As soon as he finished speaking, they both moved at the same time.

On the balcony, two assassins had just climbed up when they saw a dagger being stabbed at them.

After two strikes, these two assassins became corpses.

At the same time, there were three more corpses outside the door. Selena stood in the middle of the three bodies wearing thin pajamas, her graceful figure faintly visible, forming a strong visual contrast with the bodies on the ground.

Leon walked out and looked at the three corpses on the ground, frowning. "Why didn't you leave anyone alive?"

Selena shrugged. "I thought you would."

"Forget it, it doesn't matter either way. They're all assassins. Even if we asked, we wouldn't get any valuable information."

"So do you know who sent them?"

"No. But I can probably guess."

Leon had been an assassin for so many years. It had always been him assassinating others - he'd never been in a situation where others tried to assassinate him.

But he had just returned from the Winston family today, and this happened.

So it was already very obvious who did it.

"You're saying it was Alexander?"

"No, he wouldn't! If he wanted to kill me, he could do it openly, or he could have had people surround me directly at the family estate today."

"Then it's Charles."

"Yes, it can only be him! Or Sebastian."

But these were just Leon's guesses.

There was a ninety percent chance it was Charles or Sebastian, but he couldn't rule out other people.

"Selena, look into it."

"Don't worry."

Selena returned to the room and changed into a sleek black leather outfit. Before leaving, she kissed Leon. "Darling, I'll leave these bodies for you to handle. Before I come back, you need to clean them up, or else..."

She pressed a finger against Leon's chest and slowly slid it down, finally sliding to the middle of his thigh. "...or else, I'll have to punish you!"

"Don't worry."

...

Early the next morning, Selena returned with intelligence.

Her expression was somewhat serious.

"Leon, I thoroughly searched the Winston Estate last night. I think there are some things you, as the future leader, should know."

Leon had already prepared breakfast.

He sat down next to Selena, took the file she had compiled, and began looking through it.

At the same time, Selena said beside him, "Someone in your Winston family is secretly colluding with the Augustus family and sending them benefits."

Leon wasn't surprised at all.

"As the saying goes, people will do anything for money. This kind of thing happens in almost every family."

"But it's the Augustus family!" Selena emphasized.

Leon nodded, a cold light flashing in his eyes. "I understand what you mean."

The Augustus family was special to Leon because his father once had an engagement with this family, and it was because his father broke the engagement that the Augustus family was humiliated.

So they wouldn't let it go, especially toward him.

The sins of the father are visited upon the son - they might very well transfer their hatred of Ryan to Leon.

Only by killing him could they restore their dignity and prove to everyone how terrible the consequences of offending the Augustus family were.

"Good that you understand. Leon, I suspect the mole in the Winston family might be Charles. Although I haven't found evidence yet."

"Charles?" Leon's eyes flickered with thought. He slowly shook his head. "It won't be that simple! Eat something first."

"Okay!"

Selena put a piece of bread in her mouth, and as if suddenly remembering something, her chewing paused.

"Leon, there's something else I need to tell you."

"What?"

"I..."

Selena hesitated, but still said, "I have a fiancé."

Leon immediately found it amusing. He gently put his arm around Selena's waist. "A morning joke? I admit you made me laugh."

But Selena explained with a serious expression, "No, Leon, I'm not joking. I only found out yesterday that my family arranged a fiancé for me. Before this, they never asked my opinion."

Hearing this, Leon became serious. "Who is it?"

"A person named Adrian Harrison! And he knows something about my past, knows about our relationship. Leon, you must be careful of him in the future! I feel he might target you and do things that are bad for you."

"Adrian?" Leon nodded, the corners of his mouth slightly raised. "Okay, I'll remember him."
