When the test results came back, I was sitting alone in the exam room.

Lucas was waiting outside. This was something I had to face on my own.

“Mrs. Moretti, you’re pregnant,” the doctor said, sliding the report toward me. “About six weeks.”

I looked at the blurry image on the scan for a long time.
