Chapter 4

Leonardo Walker became frantic. He had been with Big Yellow for several years, and they had a deep bond. How could he just stand by and watch someone take Big Yellow away? He immediately stood up, blocking Samuel Black’s path, and shouted, “You can’t take my Big Yellow away!”

Samuel Black wasn’t in a hurry either. He wore a sly smile as he said, “It’s not necessary to take it away. Your dog ruined my sorghum. You should at least compensate for that, right? I won’t ask for much—just five thousand yuan. That’s not too much, is it?”

The villagers around were immediately in an uproar. Many whispered that Samuel Black was too greedy—five thousand dollars for just a little sorghum! But Leonardo Walker’s family was desperately poor. He couldn’t even come up with five hundred dollars, let alone five thousand.

“Village chief, destroying a little sorghum isn’t worth five thousand yuan, is it? Leonardo’s family is so poor. How could they possibly afford such a large sum of money?” Aunt Zhou, who had previously reminded Leonardo Walker, couldn’t bear to see this and couldn’t help but plead on his behalf.

Samuel Black sneered and glanced at Aunt Zhou. “Aunt Zhou, what does this have to do with you? It’s not your sorghum that’s being ruined. Of course you don’t care. Since you care so much about Leonardo, why don’t you use those five thousand yuan to compensate him?”

Upon hearing this, Aunt Zhou immediately fell silent, shook her head, and left in a hurry. Her family wasn’t well-off either, so how could she possibly afford to pay those five thousand dollars on Leonardo Walker’s behalf?

Samuel Black turned to Leonardo Walker again, pretending to be reasonable: “Leonardo, I know you’re stupid, but you must understand basic logic, right? Your cows ruined someone else’s crops. Shouldn’t you compensate for that?”

Leonardo Walker nodded foolishly. Although he was stupid, he knew that if you damaged someone else’s property, you had to compensate for it.

Seeing this, Samuel Black was overjoyed. Rubbing his hands together, he said, “Also, since you hit me just now, shouldn’t you pay for my medical expenses as well? I’m asking for five thousand yuan in compensation. That’s really not too much, is it?”

Leonardo Walker nodded foolishly again.

“Since you understand the logic, then you can choose yourself.” Samuel Black’s smile grew even more smug. “Either pay me five thousand dollars in compensation, or give me Big Yellow as payment for the debt!” He was sure Leonardo Walker wouldn’t have the money, so he went through all this trouble just to make Leonardo Walker “admit” it himself.

Then, he turned to the villagers around him and said loudly, “Everyone saw that, right? Leonardo admitted it himself. I didn’t bully him at all. He simply didn’t have any money to pay!”

The villagers all shook their heads helplessly. Everyone knew that Samuel Black was deliberately trying to trick Leonardo Walker. But Leonardo Walker was too foolish to realize it and fell right into his trap. The villagers could only watch helplessly, with no one daring to step in and offer any help.

Samuel Black stepped forward triumphantly, untied the rope that tied Big Yellow to the ox, and prepared to lead Big Yellow away. But just then, Leonardo Walker stopped him once again.

“What? Do you actually have the money to compensate me?” Samuel Black raised his eyebrows, his tone filled with disdain.

Leonardo Walker shook his head and said foolishly, “No, I don’t have that much money.”

Samuel Black’s expression turned cold instantly. He snapped impatiently, “Get lost! How dare you stop me when you can’t even pay?”

Leonardo Walker refused to step aside. He said seriously, “But it wasn’t the rhubarb that ruined your sorghum.”

“Isn’t it Da Huang? Then tell me, who else could it be?” Samuel Black scanned the villagers around him with a fierce look. Whoever damaged his sorghum would have to give an explanation today—and pay a heavy price for it.

Leonardo Walker pointed at Elliott Banner and shouted, “It’s her!”

Elliott Banner’s face turned pale instantly. Her heart sank—what she feared most had happened: Leonardo Walker had indeed seen her with Ronald Heller!

Samuel Black was momentarily stunned, then burst into laughter. “You fool, you’re absolutely adorable! Beauty is my wife. How could she possibly ruin her own sorghum field?”

Elliott Banner also quickly calmed down and shouted at Leonardo Walker, “Yes, you idiot! How could I be as stupid as you and waste our own food? You just don’t want the village chief to take away Big Yellow, so you’re framing me!”

Leonardo Walker shook his head and said seriously, “It was her, along with Uncle Wang. The two of them rolled around in the sorghum field, ruining a lot of it. I saw it with my own eyes!” As he spoke, he lay on the ground, clumsily imitating the scene he had witnessed.

As soon as these words were spoken, the villagers around immediately fell silent. Then, murmurs spread among them, and everyone’s gaze turned toward Samuel Black. Everyone understood what Leonardo Walker meant: Samuel Black had been cheated on, right in his own sorghum field, by his own wife and Ronald Heller from next door!

Samuel Black’s face turned as dark as the bottom of a pot in an instant. His veins bulged with anger. He turned around abruptly and yelled at Elliott Banner, “Elliott Banner, tell me what the hell is going on here?”

Elliott Banner trembled with fear, her face pale. But she knew she absolutely couldn’t admit anything now—if she did, she’d surely face consequences! Forcing herself to stay calm, she grabbed Samuel Black by the arm and said plaintively, “Fugui, how can you believe what a fool says? He’s just trying to stop you from taking Big Yellow away. He’s framing me on purpose! Please don’t wrong me!”

Samuel Black took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. Even if he was stupid, he knew that he couldn’t admit that he’d been deceived in front of all the villagers. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to hold his head high in the village anymore. He waved his hand at the villagers around him and said stubbornly, “That’s right. How can anyone believe the words of a fool? He’s just talking nonsense!”

After saying that, he glanced at Leonardo Walker, a cruel look flashing in his eyes. “Since you refuse to pay compensation or give me Big Yellow as payment for the debt, then I’ll kill it. Tonight, we’ll eat beef!”

As soon as he finished speaking, Samuel Black picked up the stick on the ground and struck Big Yellow. But Big Yellow wasn’t a kitten or puppy. When hit, it kicked Samuel Black hard in the leg, causing him to cry out in pain.

“You bastard! If I can’t deal with a fool, how can I not deal with you, you wretched creature?” Samuel Black was furious. He swung his stick at Dahuang frantically, seemingly determined to kill him.

Big Yellow became enraged and irritated. Suddenly, it rushed towards Samuel Black. Samuel Black was terrified and immediately dropped his stick, turning to run. Big Yellow followed closely for a few steps, then suddenly changed direction and ran towards the back hill.

Upon seeing this, Leonardo Walker’s expression changed. He shouted “Big Yellow” and immediately rushed after them.

“Dahuang, where are you going?” I rushed after it, calling out its name over and over again. But Dahuang seemed to ignore me, charging straight into the back mountains like it was possessed. At first, I thought Samuel Black had scared it, causing it to act in such a frantic manner. But as I watched it run, I realized something was off: its direction was very deliberate, not like a panicked escape. It seemed like it was deliberately leading me somewhere.
