Chapter 10
After finishing her comments, Lynn Newman didn’t care what the fans would think. She simply silenced her phone, tossed it on the table, and looked at Julie Berkeley, who was helping her pack her clothes, with a somewhat distressed expression.
“I really don’t want to go to this interview. One person is on the far east side of the map, and the other is on the far west side. Just thinking about having to fly there for so long, do a one-hour interview, and then fly back to record the show… I just…”
Julie Berkeley walked over, patted her head, and smiled gently. “You eat so much. Why don’t you earn more money to support yourself? I’m afraid sooner or later, you’ll drive me broke.”
Lynn Newman couldn’t help but touch her nose awkwardly, thinking about how brave she had been during the day’s battles. She didn’t dare say anything.
Female celebrities have always had very strict rules regarding their diet. Even since they first started learning about the media industry, they’ve had to strictly control their weight. As actors, they’ve long since gotten used to leading a life of self-restraint.
“I know what you’re thinking. You don’t have to force yourself either. Remember, you’re married now. There’s also Mr. Berkeley who’s supporting you. It’s best to be yourself.”
But after all, no one is perfect. Everyone in the entertainment industry seems glamorous on the surface, but few people know the hardships and struggles that lie behind their public images. As the owner of Star Entertainment, Julie Berkeley is well aware of all the things that go on behind the scenes in this industry.
At her age, not even her grandfather had ever said such things to her. No one had noticed it before. It was only Julie Berkeley, this man who suddenly entered her life, who gradually stripped away her outer shell of strength. Her vulnerability was revealed completely.
——
Although it was just another ordinary interview show—and she had participated in countless of them—Lynn Newman decided to take it seriously since it was her first interview show after getting married.
After taking a sip of water, the recording of the program began promptly. The host sat on the sofa, glanced at the prepared script, exchanged a few polite greetings, and then got straight to the formal interview.
“Everyone knows that this actress has starred in countless movies and has also tried her hand at TV dramas. She usually gets leading roles in these projects. So why haven’t we heard her sing yet?”
The host forcefully stopped Lynn Newman from speaking, adjusted her microphone, and continued speaking.
“As is well known, the theme songs for many domestic TV dramas and movies are usually sung by the lead actors and actresses. Even actors with poor singing skills have sung theme songs. But why hasn’t this actress, who’s been in the industry for seven years, sung any theme songs yet?”
Never sung it? Hah.
Lynn Newman smiled gently and appropriately. “I don’t know either. It seems like the director never intended for me to sing at all. But actually, I’ve always wanted to sing. After all, who doesn’t have a dream of becoming a singer when they’re young?”
The host seemed triumphant, with a widening smile on his lips.
“Then, please perform a piece for us on stage later. How about that? It would be great to give everyone here a chance to enjoy the music.”
This show is clearly meant specifically for her. I’m afraid they’re trying to use her to make a big deal out of it again. But unfortunately, she’s not someone easy to deal with.
Lynn Newman let out a soft sigh and adjusted her microphone. “It’s been a long time since I’ve practiced. If I don’t sing well, please forgive me.”
She smiled, pressed the microphone to her lips, and her delicate voice flowed smoothly, like water trickling over a brook—clear, pure, and filled with an incomparable sense of spirituality.
“My dream says don’t stay and wait. Let the light reflect through tears-filled eyes…”
The ending of the song was perfectly executed. It wasn’t much worse than that of professional singers. The host’s face changed expressions several times. Feeling awkward, he raised his hand and applauded along with the people in the audience.
Then, some people began to express their admiration.
“It seems like this movie queen is truly versatile. Her singing is amazing, with a very distinctive voice. It would be a shame if she didn’t become a voice actress.”
Upon hearing this, Lynn Newman raised an eyebrow, a hint of interest flashing in her eyes. “I can’t wait for that day to come.”
After a long while, he put down his phone and let out a soft sigh. Looking at Lynn Newman sitting on the sofa, it was as though he was seeing someone else through her figure. He thought of that top-tier figure who once dominated the entire CV industry.
“Damn, this voice sounds so much like my dear Qianmian Li…”
Although many sounds can be imitated, there are also some sounds that are unique. In the CV community as well, there are individuals who create truly unique sounds.
During the subsequent interview, the male fan remained completely distracted. To Lynn Newman’s surprise, the host didn’t bother her anymore after that.
Just as the one-hour program was coming to an end, the host suddenly spoke up.
“Just now, while listening to you sing that song after the movie, I thought your voice was really unique. You only sang a few lines just now. Could you please sing the whole song for the audience here?”
Sang an entire song?
Lynn Newman raised her eyebrows and thought for a few seconds. She wondered whether revealing her true identity might happen, and also considered how bad things would be if she refused to sing. After much deliberation, she decided to sing after all.
It seems one of her identities can no longer be hidden. But she’s been away from that circle for quite some time now. Hopefully, it’s okay.
