Chapter 4 He had more plans
LYRA'S POV
All the hairs on my body rose from the chills that consumed me right from my head to my toe.
I cracked my whole brain for any spell I could cast that would make me disappear into thin air, but nothing came into my head.
I must be imagining that I have any ability.
Could it be that his strange ability that I saw is making me think I could do that?
I still can't accept the fact that I am sitting right here with a murderer whose reason might seem kind of valid, but my extremely empathetic self doesn't want to agree with it.
I stayed frozen on the spot.
My whole body was pumping with blood while my head filled with buzzes.
He should have reported the problem?
I thought, trying to find an excuse.
The school never fought for you right no matter how many times you reported the bullying!
My head screamed for me, but I am still strongly against him killing them!
I feel heavily disappointed as if I didn't suspect him right from the beginning.
I mean…no matter what!
He killed them.
Did he just drag me into it too?
Oh, no.
I am doomed.
I swallowed my empty throat, trying so hard not to show how affected I am by this confirmation.
Sweat is now heavily trickling from my neck down to my abdomen.
You would think it would be cold, but it's so hot that I could barely breathe.
I will just go with the flow.
“You are a prominent figure in this academy…” I paused, gritting my teeth hard in my mouth so that my voice wouldn't come out shaky.
“I understand what you want to say,” He breathed out, shifting to sit properly without looking directly at me anymore.
That made the knot in my heart loosen a bit, making my shoulder drop in relief.
At least those dangerous eyes are not making my head freeze.
“That I am a well respected figure who should have reported your bullying case if I really cared that much?” He laid it out in a questioning manner, then spared a glance at me.
Take those eyes off me!
I wanted to cry so bad, but I just couldn't.
I just kept wincing internally.
I nodded my head to acknowledge him.
“Things don't work like that here weirdo,” He scoffed, ruffling his hair.
That statement made anger burn through my bones, and the urge to be a precious activist washed through me.
“You never did that for my sake if that was the case! I am now blamed for killing them instead, making my situation worse day by day. I was almost killed by those angry students all because of your own actions, and now you are calling me a weirdo?! You disgust my soul, in fact you are a demon who should be locked up in a cell and used as a tourist attraction center.” I rained insults on him, my heart beating faster than normal when I was done as painful tears dropped from my eyes.
I stared at my feet, hands shivering against my laps.
I guess it's my turn to die then.
“Look at me,” He commanded in a very gentle tone that made my heart flutter.
What is wrong with me?
I breathed out, and slowly moved my head to stare at his face.
I couldn't dare to meet his eyes.
It feels like a taboo.
Malik placed one of his rough fingers under my chin, sending a cold shiver down my spin.
Then he pushed my jaw up to stare deep into those dangerously beautiful eyes of his.
I sucked in a breath, mouth slightly dropping in wonder.
“I told you that I will never hurt you, Lyra.” He smiled sweetly, licking his lower lips.
I couldn't say a word.
I was too stunned to speak.
“You are not the first person that will call me a demon, but you are the only person that I will pardon for using that word. So, don't say that again, okay?” I could feel the deep harshness in his voice.
I bit my lower lips, nodding my head while feeling like crying my eyes out again.
“So, stop crying and let's get things fixed.” He said, using his thumb to wipe my wet cheeks.
I pulled my face away from him, my heart feeling so heavy like a load was placed on it.
“Take me away from here,” I begged, and bursted into tears. “I don't want to stay in this place at all,” I cried, turning to him so that he can see how miserable I am with him around.
He didn't give me any disgusted look, but he seemed dissatisfied at the fact that I am crying to get away from him.
Can't he understand that someone like me will never see his actions as something normal, but at the same time he surely wouldn't understand because he doesn't seem to have any decent feeling like a normal person.
“No!” He snapped, hitting his hand on the couch.
I shut my mouth instantly, tightening my lips so hard against each other so that no sound will escape from me.
“You know what…” He paused, his jaw flexing hard like he was about to burst from swelling. “Stop crying okay?” He sighed tiredly.
That seems to be the only thing bothering him. There is no pinch of regret in his eyes for killing those bullies.
But what bothers me is that, who must have called him a demon before? Does anyone know that he transforms? Who could they or the person be?
I adjusted away from him instead, leaning to the couch’s armrest to rest my head.
They planned to kill you, so they deserve it too!
That sentence rang in my head, but I blinked my eyes to wipe it off.
“You know damn well that those students have tried multiple times to kill you by sexually harassing, abusing and punishing you, and I have told you what they were trying to do to you that night, but you don't want to believe me? At least if you don't believe me, try to use your common sense, " He said, sounding like a dictator.
“I had plans to deal with all those fifteen students one after the other for daring to lay their hands on you, but here I am changing my plans all because you wouldn't stop crying for them” He grumbled.
I jerked my head away from the armrest.
Blinking my eyes to be sure that I heard him right.
He was planning to kill fifteen students?
My heart dropped.
