Melissa paused. Just for a second, just long enough for me to feel it. Then her fingers resumed their movement, steady and unhurried, like she hadn't stopped at all.

"Yes," she said.

I said nothing.

Inside me, Nyra exploded.

There was no other word for it. She went from perfectly still...
