Chapter 13
The door opened, my head held high, walking out of there not as a girl, not as a stranger who did not know where she belonged. I was walking out of there as a Luna, as a woman who was willing to fight for the life she deserved. My hair was bouncing up and down, my body swaying side to side with my pumps clicking on the floor, the sound echoing all over the area.
I walked to the magical thing and pressed the arrow that pointed down to wait for the doors to open as we had with the beta. The doors finally opened with me getting in. The doors closed and I stood there waiting but they opened again yet still I was in the floor I had been in with it not moving. I frowned, the thing ruining my debut killer bitch mood.
I sighed, seeing more buttons that had me frown. I decided to press the number one.
The doors closed again, the thing moving. My eyes went wide, looking around the reflective glass seeing myself. The red just went too well with my pale skin and the black hair.
The doors opened, turning around and clearing my face. I took a deep breath, looking ahead seeing a few people walking about a distance away.
My heels clicked, heads snapping to me only for those that were walking by to stop. I heard dishes clutter and break at some point with the woman bending down to quickly try and pick them up but could not help but stare.
I walked past all of them, seeing the disgust and fear as they stared at me. Some shivered, some just stumbled away with my jaw tightening as I swallowed the pain, walking on. My feet slowed, turning to stare at one that was closer to me.
“Can I ask where I can find the one that was left in charge of the pack?” I asked, none answering, knowing who I was but they wanted to attack me. They did not like me at all, having already made up their minds that they were not accepting a Luna like me.
“And who the wolf’s ass are you?” A man brave enough asked, getting closer to me, sniffing and frowning, his face morphing into disgust.
“I am Raven, I have not been introduced but I am your luna and soon your queen.” I said to him as he stared into my eyes only to shake his head, not able to stare for long. He hated it but his neck was bending. The bond werewolves had made their wolves submissive to those in more power to them and I was in a higher rank than he was. His head was shaking, him fighting it and it seemed he was winning.
The man’s eyes stared up at me with such venom it left me cold.
“You are no luna nor queen here. What are you even?”
I clenched my jaw to unclench it along with my hands.
“I will not ask much but please know that I am your luna and nothing will change that. I will do all I can to help and lead the people well alongside the king and all I ask from all is respect for who I am in this pack.” I said to the man and I thought he would shutter. He spat right at my foot with the others gasping.
“I would rather die.” The man said to turn and walk away.
My whole body was shaking, my nails digging into my skin so deep I could smell the blood. I looked around, nearly heaving with me closing my eyes and swallowing it back. A deep breath was taken.
“Can someone please point me to where I can find the person left in charge?” I asked again, most of them growling and walking away.
Just in that chaos, two large doors opened right before me with a man walking out.
The man was humongous just like all those the king had been traveling with. As I swallowed and stared past him I could see a long table filled with many different people eating. They pushed their chairs back, standing up and walking towards the door.
My eyes snapped away to the man that was taking slow steps to me. His face was not giving anything away. He was scary, as scary as all the others who had accompanied the king. He wore long trousers with a t-shirt and sneakers. His hair was combed back, scars all over his face. It was as if you only got into the king’s squad if you had scars on your face.
His eyes took me up and down realizing that he was probably the one left in power to look after the pack.
“Good morning, sir.” I greeted with him snickering at the ‘sir’ word. He sniffed the air, nothing but disgust written on his face just like everyone else.
All those who had been in the room eating were behind him, watching what would happen. It was not how I imagined it would happen. I had not seen all the eyes staring at me as if I was an abomination nor the hate that was seeping out of them even before they even learned my name.
“You are alive?” He asked, not believing, knowing they had thought I was dead; I had thought so too.
“Yes, I woke up last morning but my body needed time to recover.” I said to him, him not liking it at all.
“Can I assume you are the one left in charge in the absence of the king, can we please have a word privately.” I tried to be polite and respectful.
The man gave me a look then shook his head.
“You should not be out of your room.” He said with me frowning.
“I am sorry but I am well enough to start learning on my role and doing what I need to do.” I said to him, my voice firm but I was shaking and screaming in my head. I was so scared, not even sure what I was doing.
“There is nothing you need to do, you can stay in your room and food will brought to you, read a book or sleep, up to you.” The man answered, seeming bored of the conversation with him already turning back to the room. The anger I was feeling was too much, closing my eyes to tone it down for I had to have my head straight. I did not want to start a war here; I did not want them to hate me more than they already did but I was not going to let them bully me out of what I was supposed to do.
“I have slept enough good sir and I will read but I would like to know more of the pack and see more of the pack before getting into reading more about the deep politics.” I said, the man stopping where he was. He shook his head in irritation.
“Kane, take her back to her room.” The man said, my heart drumming with my eyes wide.
“And lock the door after.” The man added with me sweating where I was. I could not believe it, seeing the man named Kane walking towards me happy to be taking me away but I would not let them. I was not a prisoner.
“By doing that you would be meaning that I; Raven, mate to the werewolf alpha king and luna of this pack—the royal pack, am a prisoner in this pack. Please, clarify that and if so, do mention my crime because if not no one, and I mean no one is even allowed to touch me right here right now.” I stated, my voice loud, it clear and sharp as I shook where I was. My eyes were dead on.
The man stopped walking, his back to me with him chewing on my words. Kane was frozen where he was, his hand just outstretched where it was ready to pull my hand. The man turned, his face red with anger as he stared at me as if he would kill me right there and then.
“If you have no crime on me then, can we please talk in private.” I said to him, I was not looking to make enemies here. He stared at me as if he would snap my head. It was the same look they were all wearing, hate just pouring out of their pores. Werewolves hated the unknown, they were a closed community and hated new comers, especially those that were different.
The man growled then turned around, walking to another direction. I picked up my head, walking after him with his strides long and fast. I rushed after, not wanting to literally run after him. He went through a door and I followed him in.
The door slammed closed after me with my body soon crushing to a wall. My eyes went wide, a hand around my neck, crushing me and holding me to the wall as I heaved. My hands on were his, trying to pry them away.
“Who do you think you are?” He asked, heaving with him pushing me up the wall until I was in his level, until I was face to face with him. Tears filled my eyes but I would die before I cried before him. I tried blinking them back but they fell none the less. I kicked and tried to push him away but he was too strong, his face on mine, heaving with heat on my skin.
In that moment he was a monster, in that moment he was a beast ready to tear me into pieces.
“You will…die for this.” I choked out the words, a smirk on his face with him loosening his hand away. My body fell on the floor with a thud, heaving and trying to catch my breath with my neck burning from the squeeze. My head tipped up, staring at him as he stared down at me.
“And what makes you think you will still be alive to tell what happened.”
