Chapter 5 Staying Away
Eloun's pov
"Something wrong?" Jude asked me, his desk now pressed so close to us that I could feel his every breath brushing against the hair on the back of my neck.
"Nothing," I answered too quickly, and I watched the suspicion spike in his eyes. "... it's just..."I spun my pen between her fingers, uncertain if I should keep her thoughts to myself.
I had not been able to stop thinking about the conversation that I had with Elias in the library just the night before, he told me not to blindly trust Jude, that he wasn't the kind of person that deserved it.
And even though Jude had given me so much evidence to believe him I couldn't shake the inkling that ran through my bones when I saw him, the discomfort that twisted my insides when he was too close.
I needed the truth, I needed my memories.
Amidst the chatter of the class, I said to him cautiously picking my words, "Could you cover for me? I have somewhere to go during lunchtime,"
I watched a vein appear on the side of his head.
"Eloun I've told you that if you need to go anywhere then tell me, we're boyfriend and girlfriend there's no reason why we shouldn't be everywhere together,"
I wanted to tell him that there were a lot of reasons we didn't have to, but it would just lead to a long-winded argument, and there were bigger fish to fry.
"And it's because I want to be a good girlfriend to you that is why I want to find out what I have forgotten. My memories are important too, aren't they?"
As if there could be nothing further from the truth and then he brushed my cheek with his fingers once again. I could feel that crawling feeling that was moving underneath my skin but I still tried to maintain a smile.
"Do you really need to go there? Think about it, the place isn't even safe at night. I was so worried when I found you there that night And also..." He looked towards Elias' empty seats and then back to me.
"I think Elias might be stalking you If not what else would he be there at the same time as you And you were scared right that's why you came rushing out panicked."
The reason why I was so panicked was that I didn't recognize him at first Jude waved his hand hearing this.
"It doesn't make any difference anyways There is something about that guy that gives me the creeps you should stay away from anywhere that you would run into him left to me I would have us taking separate classes maybe I can arrange for that,"
I did not like that idea at all and quickly my her hand on his arm he seemed shocked by this gesture which shouldn't have been a big deal if we were really dating but I pushed past it and told him "I don't want us to have private classes It would feel a little odd and my parents wouldn't approve of it."
"How are you sure that they won't?"
"Then why don't you try talking to them yourself? They are usually busy because they are going on geographical explorations throughout the year But they will make some time for a simple conversation,"
Noticed that some blood left his face when she mentioned that he should talk to my parents And once again he was waving his hand as if every uncomfortable conversation was just something that he could stroke away by His Palm brushing the air alone
" We don't have to bother your parents, they are far too busy for us to have trouble with silly things like this and I am worried about you..." Jude wrapped my fingers around his own "But for my sake can you avoid that mountain?"
I couldn't understand his determination about her not going back to the mountain. It was almost as if he didn't want me to figure out anything about the place and it made me even more suspicious so I tried to lean into it further.
"What if we went together would you be fine with it then?"
He posed for a moment and it looked like he was actually considering it before I knew he was shaking his head again from side to side in complete refusal
"Even if I'm there to protect you it's still not safe. I wouldn't want you to go there and take any risk of harming you because that is how precious you are to me."
I wasn't trying to continue this argument but the way he was not going to let it go was becoming a little bothersome to me.
Eventually, the Bell rang for Launch time and everybody got off uniformly heading over to the cafeteria, In the Sea of students, I saw Elias, and he had this dark look in his eyes that I couldn't understand But I was far behind him and there was no way I could call out to him with Jude by my side.
He would make a thing out of it and I would prefer to have as little argument with him as possible especially since there was a big blank space where my memory should be and so far he was the only one who had given her tangible evidence.
So even as I wanted to approach him I couldn't wait Jude practically latched onto my hip and wouldn't let her go anywhere without him following.
As we all sat down to it she noticed something strange inside of his pocket and I tried to put my mind away from it but it seemed like a student card, that was interesting because he was already wearing his student card on his own neck there was no way he could have two copies because students were not allowed to.
That left the question, whose was it?
