Chapter 6 Six
‘Sitting at the heart of the city is a company owned and managed by a business tycoon, Noah Dominic.
Noah Dominic is the only son and heir to Mr. Dominic, who died a year ago, leaving his only son with all the wealth he had acquired in his lifetime.
Not only that,
Even when his Dad was alive, Noah was already a billionaire at a young age.
They said he started running his business at the age of 20. And now at 32, he owns a lot of property in his name.’
I bobbed my head, processing the information my junior gave me about Noah Dominic.
I've heard of him while doing some research a few months ago, but I haven't seen him face-to-face,
Neither have I ever stepped into his company before.
However, today, Noah Dominic has fallen into my hands as we got a report of a death from his company.
“Mr. Noah has a clean name, Detective Lizzy, he has never been reported to have assaulted anyone, taken a bribe, or been involved in an illegal act.”
We shall see about that.
A lot of them hide their true self under the coat,
And only investigation would prove them clean.
“Where is Mr. Noah?”
I asked as we headed towards the part where the person died.
“Mr. Noah is out of the turn for a conference.”
Oh,
I halted, raising a brow.
“Hasn't the news reached him that an employee died in his company?”
“I have no idea, Detective Lizzy.”
I shrugged my shoulders and continued walking to the scene.
There are lots of paparazzi and cameras around, but none entered the circle that was formed with the yellow tape.
I brought out two gloves from the bag, slid them on, and went inside the circle.
There is no sign of bruises or injury on the body, which is weird.
They said he fell from the rooftop earlier on, and yes, there is a rooftop, but no sign shows he fell from it.
“Let’s check the rooftop.”
I jumped out of the circle and motioned to the officers standing beside the ambulance.
“Transfer the body to the hospital and carry out an autopsy.”
He bobbed his head and I left.
At the rooftop, there is nothing to show that a person was there a few minutes ago.
This isn't adding up.
“Are you sure you got the information correctly?”
“Yes, Detective Lizzy.”
Hmmm.
“Give me information about the employee who died.”
I said, and he flipped the file in his hand.
“Name; Jerry Martin. 25-years-old. Jerry has been working here in the management department for the past 2 years. He has a clean record, and is an easy-going person.”
Okay,
“How many employees are in this company?”
He checked again,
“30 in total,”
Easy.
“Seal this company and transfer them all to the headquarters for questioning.”
He bobbed his head and hurried off.
“What is your name, and your role in this company?”
I asked the first person, a redhead girl.
“Alissa, I am Mr. Noah’s secretary.”
She looked so nervous as she spoke.
“Relax, Alissa, you will only answer a few questions and go.”
She bobbed her head and gulped down.
“How long have you been working in the company?”
“Four.”
She said,
“What can you say about the death that occurred today?”
She hesitated for a while and then lifted her teary face.
“For four years since I started working in the company, I noticed that Mr. Noah isn't who they say he is.”
Interesting.
“What do you mean?”
She sniffles.
“Mr. Noah doesn't pay our salaries sometimes, and he makes us do a lot of tasks which are outside our contract.”
I kept scanning her from head to toe as she spoke,
She seems to be trembling like someone telling a lie.
“Why didn't you raise an alarm when he denied you of your sweat?”
She sighed deeply.
“He threatens to slay anyone who reveals his secret.”
“Do you think Mr. Jerry’s threats are related to Mr. Noah’s threats?”
She bobbed her head.
“I think so, Detective Lizzy. For a Billionaire who has everything under his control, there is nothing he can not do.”
“Alright, Alissa, you can go.”
She sprang up, bowed her head, and left.
“Hmmm, I am disappointed in Mr. Noah.”
The officer shook his head.
“Do not conclude yet.”
I said, getting up from the chair.
Well,
What does he know?
He isn't an investigator.
“But Detective Lizzy, she is his secretary. Do you think she will lie against him?”
“You have no idea.”
I giggled and he scratched his head confused.
“Call in the next person.”
He sighed and left.
Three hours later,
I sat in my office, going through all the answers the employees gave during the investigation.
A lot of them said Mr. Noah is a nice person and doesn't have a hand in Mr. Jerry’s death.
Some said they haven't seen him before because they are new in the company.
And only the secretary said negative things about him.
When I asked them about their salary, they said a month doesn't pass until they get their salaries in full.
Sometimes, he gives them a bonus too, depending on the profit the company makes that month.
“She is his secretary, Detective Lizzy, she knows everything about him more than we do.”
An employee said during the investigation.
Why does this look weird?
Well,
“Gather up information about the secretary.”
“Detective Lizzy, someone wants to see you.”
Uhn?
Who could that be?
“An employee from the company.”
Oh,
“Send him in.”
He bowed his head and left.
A few seconds later, a guy, average in height enters the office.
“Detective Lizzy?”
He bowed his head.
“Sit.”
I pointed to a chair and he sat down.
His face looks familiar.
I think I have asked him questions before.
“Why are you back?”
He lowered his head and sighed.
“I came back to apologise to you, Ma’am.”
Apologize?
Why?
“After I had left, I felt so much guilt over what I said earlier on and wanted to clarify things.”
I dropped my hands on the desk and crossed my fingers.
“Go on.”
