Chapter 6 Chapter 6.

Skylar's POV

I asked the taxi to pick me up immediately as I ran out of the hall to take me back to the dorm.

I did not want to be anywhere else but my dorm right now. I had a weird feeling about this party, but I never knew that Penny was going to embarrass me in front of a whole crowd.

Whatever this was, I do not want to think about it tonight. I just wanted to lie in my bed and rest.

I got to my dorm and went straight for my bed, still in my red dress. I didn't bother taking off my shoes either. I lay there looking up at the ceiling.

I thought about the group home.

I never experienced anything like this over there. It was a lot more free and comfortable than this place, where everyone thinks they are demigods who can make or destroy anyone they choose.

I shut my eyes slowly, letting myself sink into a base of my own misery. I was slowly letting it go when a knock came heavily on the door.

I hesitated, staring at the door from where I lay, but I didn't move a finger.

The knock came again, and that was when I stood up slowly from the bed, dragging my feet towards the door.

I opened it to find Jordan standing right outside the door.

"Oh my god, Skylar, how are you?" he asked, his gaze searching my face, down to my dress, and back up to my face again.

"I'm fine, Jordan," I said, looking away from him. Of course I wasn't fine.

Of course I was just humiliated by Penelope, and of course I wish I could dig my nails into her face and give her a scar that she would never be able to erase.

I can't do any of that. What I can do is just sit here and wait until the anger leaves my veins.

"I'm really sorry about what happened at the party, Sky. I followed you immediately," he said and nodded my head slowly, opening the door a little wider to let him come in.

"I'm going to get over it. I just need some time," I said, walking over to the bed. I sat slowly on the edge of it while he stood only a few steps away from the door.

"I can let you be if you do not want me to be here," he said and nodded quickly before he could finish.

"Yes, I'll really appreciate that, Jordan. I just want to be alone for now," I said.

He opened his mouth to say something but suddenly closed it before a word could come out of it.

I watched him turn around on his heels and begin to walk for the door. Just as he grabbed the door handle, he turned his gaze back to me.

"Be fine, Sky. Everything will be okay. I'd make sure Penelope pays for this," he said.

Owen's POV

I did not stay until the party was over. After the confrontation with Penny, I wanted to go check on Skylar right away, but I ran into Jordan when I arrived back at Crestfield.

I drove into the parking lot, and I had just stepped out when he was walking towards me.

"I see you've come to check on her," he remarked, walking over to me.

"Is she okay?" I asked him, my gaze searching his face for a clue. I let out a breath of relief when he nodded his head slowly.

"She's fine. I was just coming from her dorm. She's okay. She says she needs some time, which I think we should give her," he said.

I nodded quickly.

Of course she needed time to process this level of embarrassment that Penny had cast her in.

"I do not know what Penny wants, but this is on a whole different level," I remarked, looking away from him.

He didn't say a word. He didn't make a sound, which made me look back at him almost immediately.

"What? Why didn't you say anything?" I asked him.

"Because I do not think that she should be ashamed for being a virgin. I think she should be proud," he said.

I held his gaze for a few seconds, the words sinking into my head.

He was right. Skylar shouldn't be ashamed to be called a virgin. It only shows how reserved and well-managed she is, I thought.

" I actually think that it's society that makes some things that are to be applauded for when they should be shamed. You know I'll be down for it if she comes offering, anytime soon," he remarked.

My eyes widened. I stared at him in shock.

"And what exactly do you mean by that last statement?" I asked him.

He chuckled, nudging me lightly with his shoulder.

"You tell me. You're not going to be down for it if she came offering it to you right now?" he asked me.

"That is not what I mean, Jordan. There you go," he said, cutting me off before I could finish my statement.

"I know you're going to be down for it, but I promise you, if you were offering, I'd beat you to it. I'll take it first," he remarked.

His words stung my skin. I couldn't imagine a picture of him and Skyler together. I shook my head instantly.

"There's no way that is happening," I said, looking away from him as we both began to walk into the hall.

"That depends on how fast you are because I am all in now and unless you can beat me to it, I'm getting it fast." I stared at him with my mouth open.

"Listen, Jordan. She's mine, and I'm going to make sure that you lose," I remarked.

But just as those words left my mouth, I felt a sudden tightness in my chest, as if my breath was being held.

"What the fuck is happening to me right now?" I asked myself.

My eyes darted around every corner as I tried to steady my breath and pretend, before Jordan, like everything was okay.
