Chapter 3 Who Is This Woman?
Nancy's POV
What Andrew said was for my own good, and also for his own sake.
I came back to the country to become Mrs. Lopez, not to be exposed to those paparazzi.
If those paparazzi dug up what happened between me and the fitness trainer, my plan to become Mrs. Lopez would probably fall through.
To achieve my grand plan, I had to be careful.
I quickly put some distance between Andrew and myself.
I said to Andrew, "Andrew, you don't need to explain. I know everything you're doing is for my own good."
Hearing this, Andrew smiled slightly.
Men liked sweet and obedient girls the most.
After leaving the airport, I got into Andrew's car.
As expected of the Lopez family heir and a superstar, Andrew's car was worth a fortune. The price of this car was something that fitness trainer could never afford even if he worked his whole life.
Sitting in the passenger seat, I finally dared to hold Andrew's arm and act cute.
"Andrew, I want to go back to The Lopez Mansion with you to visit Mrs. Lopez. I haven't seen her in four years. I really miss her."
When he heard I wanted to see Clara, Andrew's brow furrowed slightly. He seemed resistant.
"Are you sure? Don't you want to go home and rest first?"
Andrew looked cool driving. He put on his sunglasses, turned the wheel, and headed toward the highway.
I lowered my head and apologized to Andrew.
"Andrew, back when we got engaged, I was too willful and left without saying goodbye. Mrs. Lopez must have taken it out on you because of this."
"It was my fault. I don't want Mrs. Lopez to be unhappy because of this. So I want to apologize to Mrs. Lopez. Andrew, I was wrong!"
Upon hearing my apology, Andrew's expression looked serious.
He was focused on driving, but from his seriousness I could see forgiveness.
According to my friends, after I left, Andrew had a rough few months, living in a daze every day, drowning himself in alcohol.
Later, after some time to heal, he recovered.
Andrew loved me so deeply that as long as I gave him a little sweetness, he would forgive me.
Sure enough, my thinking was right.
After hearing what I said, Andrew said, "Okay!"
Seeing him agree, I immediately showed excitement.
I grabbed his arm and kept talking.
"Andrew, I brought a gift for Mrs. Lopez - a very expensive necklace. Mrs. Lopez will definitely love it. And I brought you a gift too!"
My face flushed as I chattered on and on with Andrew.
No man didn't like a bright and beautiful girl like me. Back then, it was precisely because of my appearance that I brought a ray of light into Andrew's life.
Half an hour later, Andrew's car pulled into The Lopez Mansion.
As soon as the car stopped, I saw a woman in a light blue dress standing at the entrance of The Lopez Mansion, talking to the mansion's butler Kurt.
The woman looked to be in her early twenties. She was pretty good-looking with a decent figure. When talking to Kurt, her expression was relaxed and natural.
And Kurt was respectful to her!
In all my years of contact with Andrew, I had never seen this woman.
Who was she? And what was her status?
Jane's POV
After I came to help Clara with treatment and relieved her back pain, I went to help Kurt water the flowers.
Clara loved orchids the most, so The Lopez Mansion had quite a few planted. Some varieties were even rare ones that Andrew had collected from other places.
Orchids were delicate and required special care.
Kurt wasn't very professional at growing flowers, so he often asked me, a flower-growing enthusiast, for advice.
I enjoyed talking with Kurt. In the Lopez family, besides Clara, he was the only one who knew that Andrew and I had gotten our marriage certificate.
Kurt said to me, "Jane, Mrs. Lopez is getting old and has mentioned to me several times that she wants to hold a great-grandchild. You need to work hard and have a baby soon."
Kurt's urging didn't really bother me.
But he didn't know that every time Andrew slept with me, he took complete precautions.
Forget about me not wanting to have children; even if I wanted to, I wouldn't have the chance.
Of course, if Kurt knew that Andrew and I were about to divorce, he might realize how absurd his urging was.
I awkwardly deflected Kurt's baby talk and then picked up the watering can to discuss orchid care with him.
Just as Kurt and I were having a pleasant conversation, Andrew suddenly appeared in front of Kurt and me with a young, beautiful woman.
The woman was holding Andrew's arm, their bodies close together; they clearly looked like they were in love.
If I wasn't mistaken, the woman standing next to Andrew must be his first love, Nancy.
As expected of a wealthy family's daughter who never had to worry about making a living, Nancy not only looked young but her face was full of innocence.
When Kurt saw Nancy, he was clearly stunned.
Before Kurt could speak, Nancy greeted him directly first.
Her tone was light and cheerful, full of smiles. "Hi, Kurt! It's been a while."
That casual "Kurt" invisibly elevated her status. Kurt was Clara's butler and also a distant relative of Clara's family. Which of the servants in The Lopez Mansion didn't treat him with respect?
It directly showed how familiar they were with each other.
Kurt cleared his throat and responded, "Hello, Ms. Gonzalez!"
"Where's Mrs. Lopez? I want to visit her." Nancy looked up toward The Lopez Mansion's spacious living room. Apart from a few busy servants, she didn't see Clara.
Kurt told her, "Mrs. Lopez isn't feeling well."
Before Kurt could finish, Nancy cut him off.
"What's wrong with Mrs. Lopez? Where does she feel unwell? Should we take her to the hospital?"
"Kurt, what kind of butler are you? Mrs. Lopez is sick and you're still in the mood to water flowers here."
"Andrew, let's go see Mrs. Lopez."
With that, Nancy pulled Andrew's arm, wanting to head toward The Lopez Mansion's living room.
The whole time, Andrew didn't even glance at me once, which showed how much he ignored me.
Honestly, I felt a bit sad.
But I quickly came to terms with it. What right did a contract wife who was about to divorce have to be sad?
After calming myself down, I tried to see myself as an outsider. I picked up the watering can and continued watering the flowers. Unexpectedly, Nancy's voice soon rang in my ears.
She was still holding Andrew's arm as she asked him, "Andrew, who is she? A new maid? I've never seen her before."
