Chapter 6 Unspeakable Secrets

Jane's POV

Ignoring Nancy's thoughts, I brought the freshly brewed coffee to her.

"Ms. Gonzalez, your coffee."

Looking at the coffee in my hands, Nancy paused for a moment.

She gave Andrew a sweet smile and reached out to take the coffee from me. When her hand touched the cup, I let go. Unexpectedly, Nancy suddenly released her grip too, and the cup of coffee I had carefully prepared fell to the ground.

Coffee cup fragments splattered onto me.

The freshly brewed hot coffee poured down over the back of my hand. The piercing pain made me cry out. When I looked down, I saw that my hand was already red and swollen from the hot coffee burn.

Before anyone could react, Nancy immediately apologized to me.

"What's wrong with you? How careless! I hadn't even gotten a good grip on the cup yet, and you let go. I'm sorry, it's my fault, it's my fault."

Anyone sharp-eyed could see that was just Nancy's trick. She deliberately pulled her hand back, which caused the hot coffee to spill on my hand.

Enduring the pain on the back of my hand, I looked up at Andrew standing beside Nancy.

He glanced at me expressionlessly, then turned to comfort Nancy.

"It's okay, it's not your fault. She didn't hold it properly herself. You don't need to apologize to her."

When Nancy heard Andrew say this, a smile of victory appeared on her face.

She smiled smugly, her eyes full of mockery toward me.

As if she was saying, "See, in Andrew's heart, only I, Nancy, am the most important one."

Not interested in witnessing their lovey-dovey display, I turned to go rinse my burned hand under cold water.

Unexpectedly, Nancy's voice rang out behind me again.

She said to me, "Ms. Green, your coffee smelled wonderful. Could you please make me another cup in a bit?"

Nancy spoke commandingly, acting like the lady of the house, which made me recall how Andrew had humiliated me in the lounge earlier.

With my stubborn temper, I immediately chose to refuse Nancy.

Not only was I not a servant of the Lopez family, but even if I were, it wouldn't be Nancy's place as an outsider to bully me.

I refused her. "I'm sorry, Ms. Gonzalez, my hand is injured. I can't make it. Mr. Lopez also makes excellent coffee. If you really want some, please ask him to make it for you."

After saying this, I endured the pain on the back of my hand and hurried toward the cold water tap. Although burns aren't fatal, if not treated immediately, they could easily blister.

While running my hand under cold water, I faintly heard Nancy and Andrew talking.

Nancy said, "Andrew, this new servant is rather rude, isn't she? I don't mind her being rude to me, but if she's like that with Mrs. Lopez, that's where I draw the line."

I didn't hear what Andrew said. In fact, I didn't want to hear anything more from Andrew.

Just as my mood was getting lower, Kurt was asking Nancy to leave from outside the lounge.

"Ms. Gonzalez, I'm sorry, but Mrs. Lopez says she's getting old and her health isn't good. She really doesn't receive visitors right now. Please come back another time. When she's feeling better, she'll arrange another time to meet with you."

I didn't know what Clara's refusal to see Nancy really meant.

I only knew that a fake person like Nancy wouldn't give up easily.

Sure enough, the next second, Nancy's affected voice reached my ears again.

"Andrew, is Mrs. Lopez not seeing me because she's still mad at me?"

Andrew patiently comforted her. "No, Grandma isn't the type to get angry easily. She really hasn't been feeling well these past few days. If she says she'll see you another day, she definitely will."

With Andrew's comfort, before long, Nancy's laughter was ringing through the Lopez Mansion's living room again.

I stayed by the cold water tap for quite a while before the pain on the back of my hand became less intense.

Kurt came to the tap and looked at the injury on my hand. He whispered to me. "Jane, Mrs. Lopez would like to see you in her room."

I nodded at Kurt. After simply applying some ointment to my wound, I prepared to go upstairs.

Just then, the persistent Nancy blocked my way again.

She held up her phone and said to me. "Ms. Green, I'll be coming back to visit Mrs. Lopez. Andrew is busy with work, so I don't want to bother him all the time. Can I add you on WhatsApp so I can check with you when I want to visit? Is that okay?"

Nancy was using Clara as an excuse to get my contact information. I couldn't refuse.

I had no choice but to take out my phone and add each other on WhatsApp.

Then I headed upstairs.

As I passed by Nancy, I clearly saw her nose twitch slightly.

Instantly, the way she looked at me took on a deeper meaning.

Nancy's POV

When Jane passed by me, I clearly caught a scent on her that was the same as Andrew's.

It was a faint fragrance unique to women.

When I looked at Jane, she unconsciously pulled at her collar, covering up a hickey on her collarbone.

When I saw that hickey, I was obviously surprised.

If I remembered correctly, when I saw her ten minutes ago, there was no hickey on her collarbone.

In just a short time, without leaving the Lopez Mansion, how did a hickey suddenly appear on her collarbone?

She had only been in contact with two men - Kurt and Andrew.

Kurt was too old; he couldn't have made a hickey like that.

That left only Andrew as the suspect.

It seemed that Andrew and Jane must have some secret between them.

During the years I was away from the country, Jane must have been the woman by Andrew's side.

Normally, I should be jealous that Andrew had another woman, but my goal was the position of Mrs. Lopez. Women like Jane who were just passing through Andrew's life weren't worth worrying about.

I would use my own methods to drive Jane away from Andrew's side.

To become Mrs. Lopez, I naturally had a few tricks up my sleeve.

Seeing me staring at Jane, Andrew seemed to want me to shift my attention.

He said to me, "Nancy, come on, I'll take you home."

I had just arrived and he was already sending me away? He must be afraid I'd discover something.

But that was okay. It was time for me to leave anyway. After all, I had prepared a big plan specifically for Andrew tonight.
