Chapter 1 Transformation

Evan stared outside through the glass window as the rain slammed hard to the ground. She could hear the hard drops hammering the roofs, sending chills beneath her skin. Little Evan was barely five years of age. She had been in this room for twelve hours now and she was usually locked up every day, only let out by her brother who was barely at home.

She felt lonely and scared. Her little mind had little to no idea why she ended up here every day. She always watched kids outside the mansion playing and having fun while she was here with no one to comfort her.

Her once red eyes flickered between red and hazel. It was obvious that the little vampire was turning human.

A few minutes later the door pushed open, startling Evan. She was squatting, hugging her knees at a corner of the room.

“It is done, she should be executed. No more excuses to avoid further embarrassment!” a woman said.

“Mom,can you hear yourself speak?” A young man in his twenties stepped into view, making Evan's eyes light up.

“Don't intervene. Are you too blind to see?” The woman sneered. “She is no longer one of us, she is now a human!” said the woman in disgust.

“What the fuck? I can't believe you're doing this to your own daughter. You and I are very much aware that she didn't cause this upon herself. She is just a little child,” the man scoffed in disbelief and with that he walked past his mother towards her. Taking his little sister in his arms he walked out of the room in silence. Evan felt a little comforted by that single act. Her brother took her to her room upstairs.

Reaching her room he placed her on the bed. After tucking her in the blanket he went outside the room, making sure he locked the door properly and taking the keys along with him.

Turning his shoulders, he met his mother in front of the door.

“Mom,why are you and dad behaving this way…”

“She is possessed. She will surely bring embarrassment to this family,” she scolded.

“Mom, she isn't.”

“When have you ever heard of a rumor of a vampire turning human? This is concrete evidence that she is possessed by a witch or something,” she blurted out frustratingly.

“No matter what you do Vincent, tomorrow she'll be executed!” With that, her walk out of the hallway made it clear that that was the final verdict of the situation.

It was rare for a vampire to turn into a human and Vincent himself had never heard of that before. Their family was one of the respected elite pureblooded vampires. In addition, Evan's father was a duke. If others found out their daughter was turning into a mere human the family reputation would be tarnished.

Young Evan grew up loved by both her parents and sibling.Finding out that her mother stopped showing affection towards her would only cause emotional depression for a four year old like her.

Vincent didn't want that type of future for his little sister. He couldn't believe his parents were actually executing his little sister whom he had loved till now.

Unlike other children who grew up with their parents by their side, Vincent grew up with a Lord. He usually came home to visit little Evan. He knew in his heart that it wasn't possible to watch his own sister being killed. The situation had gotten worse and he needed to act fast.

The next morning before Mrs. Sullivan (Evan's mother) could go to her room Vincent had already sold his sister into slavery to another land.

Evan was bound with chains and sent away. She cried, telling her brother to take her back to her Mama; Vincent refused to meet her eyes. He had gone too far but this was the only way. Humans were dirt under vampires' feet. Evan was surely going to suffer pain but it was better to suffer pain than death.

The carriage left down to a strange land far away from the city where the Sullivan's empire was.

To the city of GreenNature.

Evan was sold to a senior slave,Mrs. Caviar. The old human slave felt a pang of pain for Evan. At this tender age she had to work as a slave. Humans were the lowest rank citizens. They suffered slavery and became someone's maid. They were used as food for vampires and much more.

Evan cried her eyes out. They were now hazel and swollen and her cheeks were red. Her throat was dry and voice creaky. Her little pink lips were on the verge of bleeding. Her once honey-kissed skin was pale. She looked so frail and malnourished. The woman beside her tried to comfort her but the girl kept chanting only one spell, “Take me back to Mama. I want my Mama!”

Soon, the little girl's attention was absorbed by the massive mansion in front of them.

The carriage entered the surrounding area which was massive and beautiful.Evan saw that they weren't the only ones who had just arrived. Many carriages were lined up while people bound with chains came out from them looking messy. Many parts of their clothes were ripped out. They looked dirty like mad humans bound with chains to keep them at bay.

The family of Donovan had just brought in new slaves to serve them. Evan wondered why they all looked the same, including herself. Her hands and neck were bound as well. Some men dressed in black came, forcing everyone out of the carriage, not in a kind way. Mrs. Caviar noticed this and quickly went down herself, taking Evan with her. After every slave was out of the carriage they were led into the back of the mansion. Walking in the margin while the men in black made sure all slaves were in line.

Evan found it difficult to walk with her chains while Mrs.Caviar did all she could to help the little child.

“Aunty! It's so heavy. Help me take it off,” said little Evan to Mrs. Caviar. She was in front of Mrs. Caviar who tried helping her lift some of her chains.

“It hurts, I want to take it off please!” cried the girl in agony.

“Evan, you can't take it off dear. Don't worry we're almost there.”

“But why can't I?” asked little Evan in curiosity.

“Because if you do, these scary men will kill me dear.”

Upon hearing that Evan immediately slammed her mouth shut. She didn't want them to kill Mrs. Caviar, her new best friend. Little by little they all were taken to the nearby stream behind the mansion to wash up. They then took off every maid's chain, giving them a different uniform. Evan didn't have any pair of the slave uniform left as she was too small.

“Sir,sir!” Mrs. Caviar called out. She wanted to let them know that Evan didn't have a pair of slave clothes.

“Any trouble?” one of the men in black replied with a deep voice enough to startle Mrs. Caviar.

“She is too small to fit in the dress. Can you get her something of her size please?” asked Mrs. Caviar. She hoped he would heed what she was requesting. The man stared at her for a few seconds before walking away. To Evan the man looked scary. He had many scars on his face. One was like a v-shape right on his forehead. It looked creepy and one could tell he was a war warrior.

A few minutes later he came back with a brown straight dress of Evan's size.It didn't look dirty like the other maids'. He handed it to Mrs. Caviar who quickly helped little Evan into it.

Humans were trash;the men in black even stood there when they were all having their bath, low rank citizens having no value. Their privacy wasn't even given to them.

All slaves were then moved to the basement in the second mansion located 2 kilometers back from the first mansion. Mrs. Caviar and Evan were given a room in the basement of the mansion; each slave was asked to share a room with two people. They were all settled in; they were given rules that every slave needed to follow. If you were loyal to your master you would be given an opportunity to be a maid. Mrs. Caviar wanted to do her best in order for Evan to become a maid at least.

One rule stated that the youngest slave,Evan, was not to be seen roaming inside the mansion.

The next morning little Evan woke up in the basement and was sent by Mrs.Caviar to water the flowers in the garden. Slaves were not allowed into kitchens. They were rags for working nonstop.

Little Evan's task was to run little errands and water plants and she could barely hold the hose.Mrs. Caviar and the other maids had gone to the stream to wash their master's clothes. It was a lot of clothes and would be very difficult for little Evan to clean.

Evan took more than thirty minutes watering flowers in the garden which was between the first and second mansion.

Soon, little Evan got distracted by a yellow butterfly passing by. She threw the hose and started chasing after it happily. Running around the garden and the butterfly was only taking her in circles. She never stopped chasing after it as if her life depended on it even when she fell multiple times.

“Ugh!” she groaned in pain as she bumped into a wall. She landed on the ground due to loss of balance. Getting up slowly she used her little hands to remove dirt from her dress. She looked up and was immediately left spellbound.

The thing she had bumped into wasn't actually a wall;it was a person, a man, a beautiful one at that. He carried an intimidating aura with pure black hair and gray enchanting eyes. Little Evan could tell that this was a pureblooded vampire from this family as she was told by Mrs. Caviar. Remembering very well that she shouldn't be seen with this kind of person.

Little Evan immediately bowed, as she was told by Mrs. Caviar who made sure she memorized all this properly. That action alone made the man in front of her chuckle. Evan raised her head up and stared at the creature in front of her wondering who he was. Could he help her go back home?

“Can you take me to my mommy?”asked Evan, hoping he would say yes. The man was a little stunned how she got the nerve to ask him for a favor because kids always feared his intimidating aura. His smile alone could scare a ten year old vampire child so how the hell was this human child still untouched by his intimidating aura?

Evan looked up waiting in anticipation for the man to answer but to her surprise he started walking away.

“Mister! Please take me home!” screamed little Evan but the man just ignored her.

“Evan dear, what are you doing here?” came Mrs. Caviar’s voice behind her. She immediately took the child into her arms about to leave only to be stopped by the man.

“You own this child?” asked Ezekiel. He hated children dearly. He had just lost his younger sister of the same age as Evan. Just seeing Evan felt a sharp pain in his heart.

“Yes milord,” answered Mrs. Caviar with a bow.

“If I ever see her anywhere around here, that will be the very last day she will be alive,” came his husky menacing voice sending chills down Mrs. Caviar's spine.
