Chapter 5 First blood bite
Evan's eyes widened as soon as those words left the duck's lips. Her head spun with dizziness. She had totally forgotten she was in a room with a vampire, a pureblooded one at that. Vampires consider humans as food, a source of survival that can be bought.
“M-milord,I'm not r-really used to that,” she stammered, her body trembling. A first bite? That meant he was going to drink from her, right? Fear gripped her body. There was no way in hell she could stand such pain and fright.
“Hmm,you'll get used to it,” was Ezekiel's reply. He tugged on his neck, trying to make it more flexible.
“Now walk towards me,”he demanded. Evan blinked twice, thinking she had misheard again. She waited to see if he was going to say it again or if that was just her mind speaking unreal things to her.
“I said walk towards me,” he repeated. Evan's mind had already started reeling. Many questions spun around. She couldn't even think straight at this point, and she could feel her kidneys quiver in fright. She hesitated for a few moments.
“Don't let me ask again,”she heard his husky voice, making her heart slam harder. She gathered herself together; with hesitant steps, she walked towards the man who was gracefully sitting on the bed.
Every step she took made his throat itch more. He just wanted the red liquid to drop down his throat; he would appreciate it even if it was a single drop of blood. With calculated steps, Evan walked towards the bed. Her mind numb, her heart drumming in her chest, she was well aware he was gracefully listening to her heartbeat. Vampires have sharp senses of hearing, especially the pureblooded vampires, who are of the highest rank.
Vampire elites usually feed on their slaves or maids. When a pureblooded vampire or any high-ranked citizen turns 18 years of age, they usually pick a human slave to feed on until they find their soulmate. Ezekiel had never chosen a human he could drink from. When he turned 18, he remembered everyone calling him a weirdo. The next day, his little sister was killed by a black witch. The pain was overwhelming, and the thought didn't cross his mind to pick any human to feed on.
What got his mother more mystified was the fact that Ezekiel never drank from any human. He only drank blood tea, never drinking directly from humans.
Today, this girl had intrigued him, and his thirst for blood intensified. When Evan was in front of him, she just stood fidgeting with her fingers due to nervousness.
“Sit,”he instructed, which Evan did obediently. Ezekiel turned to the girl, who didn't dare meet his eyes. He adjusted so he would be able to reach her neck effortlessly.
He looked at her as if telling her to bend her neck.Evan hesitated but did as he wished.
As soon as her neck was stretched forward,Ezekiel's long, delicate fangs came into view. He hardly showed his fangs to anyone.
He held her neck warmly, almost too kindly for a master like him, and slowly pierced his sharp fangs through her skin and started drawing blood. Evan felt a slight pain that lasted for only a fleeting moment but vanished immediately. She could hear the three long gulps he took before pulling away. She saw him looking at her as if anticipating her thoughts; then he went back and licked every single drop of blood from her neck. He pulled away and licked his tongue as if this was the sweetest thing he had ever tasted.
“You may leave for your room,” said Ezekiel. Before he could end his statement, he could hear the door slamming. The girl was already gone.
Evan went to her room, her heart heavy with numerous emotions she couldn't name. She closed the door. With speed, she threw her body on the bed and immediately hugged her knees, crying. She let out all the emotions in her heart as more tears welled up in her beautiful eyes. Her face was red, her throat dry…
She was scared and honestly missed Mrs.Caviar terribly. No vampire had ever drunk from her; at least Mrs. Caviar had made sure of that.
Mrs. Cavier would always sacrifice herself instead of letting anyone drink blood from Evan. She loved Evan like her own child. It was so overwhelming; she had felt loved before, and all of a sudden, it had just vanished into thin air. Her body grew hotter as she cried harder.
Suddenly, someone knocked on her door, making the girl freeze. She wiped her tears, thinking she must have misheard as always.
Knock! Knock!
She heard it for the second time.If it was the housekeeper, he would've called her name by now, with no need to play games with her.
“Open up,”the voice sent an electrifying sensation down her spine.
‘Wait, isn't that duck Ezekiel's voice?’
