Chapter 2 Selena's pov

My face went pale. My vision blurry from the sight before me. " This can't be happening." I said in a gentle but harsh voice.

" I did it, Stephan. I saved you." I said with tears in my eyes. I could feel the phlegm that threatened to spill from both my nose and my mouth.

He squeezed his face. " Don't make this harder than it is suppose to be, Selena. What the hell!" Stephan shouted in anger and I could feel his wolf shift.

Stephan was special. Unlike other wolves, the moon goddess had bestowed the power on him to choose who ever he saw fit as his mate.

I had always wished it was me but once again Olivere was snatching the moment.

" If you think I am going to grovel before you because you think you took the fall for me then you are kidding me." Stephan sad with a smirk and my face went pale.

He knew.

That was the face I had on me. You should have seen the way my heart thud faster, skipped. The heat that surge through my body. I clenched my hand in regret and pain. If only he knew how much I loved him and care for him but I think the day will never come.

To Stephan, Olivere was the only woman he had eyes on but me, I was noting to him no matter how much I tried to get acknowledged.

Then at that moment, all I feared was happening before me.

Stephan bent the knee with the box he was holding slowly unveiled. " Olivere Silverton. Will you do the honor of making me your Luna?"

At that moment, my world froze.

The word I had longed for, to hear on the tips of his tongue. That single word that could make me to be reckoned with in the pack. It could have meant alot to me coming from him but instead, the words were mean for her, Olivere.

I heard as she giggled saying the word, Yes.

The pain, rhe tortoure. It was too much for me to bear.

" What was she expecting?"

" Did she think she stood a chance against Olivere?"

" To even think she had craved Stephan's attention is appalling."

" The daughter of a maid, date the son of the Alpha. How ridiculous."

" I would pick a bitch over her!"

The words were cut deep into me. Making my heart ache and at that moment, Steohan added salt to my injured wound. He cupped her face in his hands and kissed her.

Seeing that, I turned slowly with tears now spilling from my eyes, I walked away injured but as I walked, I prayed asking the moon goddess to answer just one prayer.

MAKE STEPHAN MINE DURING THE MATING BOND!

[ THE MATING CEREMONY ]

The night air was thick with tension. The full moon hung in the sky, casting its glow over the sacred clearing where the mating ceremony was set to take place. Wolves from every corner of the pack had gathered, their murmurs filling the air ike a tidal wave.

I stood at the edge of the clearing, my hands clenched into fists. I looked at my mother who was in the front bearing the goblet that served as a momentum to seal the fate of Olivere and Steohan.

I looked at Stephan's father and how proud he was. I was sure Stephan had done what he expected for him. But that was not want i wanted, not that it mattered though.

My heart pounded so hard I feared it would burst from my chest. Tonight was the night the Moon Goddess would seal the mating bonds, and I held onto the last shred of hope I had left.

Stephan stood at the center, his posture proud, his dark eyes brimming with excitement as he awaited Olivere. He looked at her as if she were the only thing in the world that mattered.

I swallowed the bile rising in my throat. The pain was unbearable, yet I refused to break down—not here, not in front of them.

Olivere stepped forward, her silver dress flowing like liquid moonlight. She was radiant, flawless. The perfect Luna.

"Step forward," the Elder commanded, his voice ancient and full of power. "Let the Moon Goddess weave your destinies together."

Stephan reached for Olivere's hand, a soft smile playing on his lips. My nails dug into my palms. This was it. My last chance.

I shut my eyes tight. Please, Moon Goddess, answer my prayer. Let him be mine. Let the bond choose me.

A sudden gust of wind swept through the clearing. A strange energy crackled in the air, sending shivers down my spine. Gasps erupted from the crowd as the Elder faltered, his eyes widening in shock.

Something was wrong.

A sharp pain tore through my chest, forcing a gasp from my lips. It burned, scorching every nerve in my body.

Stephan staggered backward, clutching his chest. His face twisted in agony as he let out a strangled gasp. Head thought he had the liberty to choose who his mate was.

" What is happening?"

" I thought Stephan was suppose to be different?"

" I thought he had the liberty, the freedom to chose who his mate was?"

The murmur filed the air as the people anticipated what was going to happen.

Olivere turned to him in panic. "Stephan?"

His breathing turned ragged, his eyes clouded with confusion. Then, slowly, those same eyes lifted—and locked onto me.

A hush fell over the clearing.

The realization dawned like a slow, horrifying sunrise.

The bond… had chosen me.

Stephan's lips parted, his expression one of disbelief and rage. "No," he rasped. "No, this isn't possible."

Olivere spun around, her face twisting in fury. "What did you do?!"

I took a shaky step

forward, my heart thundering in my chest.

The Moon Goddess had answered my prayer.

Stephan was mine.

But judging by the murderous glare he sent my way, he would rather die than accept it.
