Chapter 5 Chapter Five

Chapter Five

Theodota

My heart boiled with anger throughout the ride back home. Beside me, Elena was sitting with a solemn expression, looking as meek as possible. She’d been apologizing for the past twenty minutes, going on and on about how she’d been framed. I didn’t bother mentioning the fact that she’d told Sophia that I’d taken the necklace in the first place.

At the moment, she was trying to lean close to Dimitris, while secretly smirking. What a fool she was.

“Why did you do it?” Dimitris asked in an irritated voice.

“I didn’t do it. You know I would never do something like that. Someone framed me.” She insisted.

“Enough! You’re an Omega, but that doesn’t mean you’re not a part of Sungaze Pack. Whatever you do will directly or indirectly bring shame to the Pack. Know your place.” He warned.

Tears flowed down her cheeks, and I could swear, I was inwardly gagged and disgusted. The fact that she could put on such an award-winning performance was impressive though. I’d give her that.

“Say something, Theo. You know I didn’t do it.” She turned to me, her eyes begging.

Making my voice as sweet as possible, I said, “Well, Dimitris knows best. We are Omegas, Eleni.” I said sweetly.

Dimitris regarded me for a moment, and I could see the raw lust in his eyes. I was tempted to make a face. Or maybe scratch his face. Whatever. I’d gone back in time, but it didn’t erase memories of the torture I’d gone through. The sexual abuse. The mental abuse. I hated him to death. And I was going to make him pay. Slowly and slowly.

The car came to a stop twenty minutes later. The Pack was in full bustle, and I remembered what day it was going to be tomorrow. Well well well.

“Dimitris, I am going to prove that I didn’t do it. Please give me a chance.” She begged again.

“Come with me, Theodota.” Dimitris ordered.

“I am feeling a bit unwell.” I replied, not bothering to be respectful. Anger flared in his eyes.

“But you were strong enough to talk to Andreas. Come with me. Now.” He ordered.

I snickered inwardly, but followed him into the Alpha’s corner of the Pack. It wouldn’t hurt to hear whatever he had to say after all. He turned back and tried to pull me with him.

“I can walk just fine, Dimitris.” I pulled away from his hold.

“You disrespected me in front of Andreas. How dare you?” He sparked.

We were now standing in a brightly lit hallway. I crossed my arms.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I retorted.

He lowered his face close to mine. “Listen to me, Theodota. You’re just an Omega. You can be thrown out of the Pack this instant if I will.”

I waited for the familiar fear. Something to prove that the trauma of the past had followed me through my rebirth. There was nothing.

“Then throw me out.” I replied.

“What?” His eyes widened a bit.

“You heard me right, Dimitris. I don’t know why we are having this conversation. I did nothing wrong. If you decide to punish me, I can report to the Alpha.” I threatened.

“You won’t dare.” He spat.

I smiled brightly. “Would you like to try?” I questioned.

His eyes narrowed. “You are pushing it too far, Omega.” He warned.

“I have a name, Dimitris. And I am not an Omega. At least, not anymore.” I scoffed.

“Theo! What has come over you?” I heard Eleni gasp loudly just a few feet away. She approached us hurriedly.

“Dimitris, don’t be offended. Theo might’ve had something to drink.” She offered a placating smile.

“Why are you here?” I asked.

She laughed awkwardly. “I came to remind Dimitris about the mating ceremony.” She said.

I sneered. “Remind? Does he need a reminder about such an important matter?” I chuckled. “Dimitris, it seems I am not the only one who thinks you’re having memory loss.”

“How dare you?!” Dimitris growled, raising his hand to hit me.

I chuckled once more. “I hope you didn’t forget that I can report any form of mistreatment to the Alpha?” I asked, and his hand hung in the air. He slowly lowered it down.

“Good.” I nodded, and made to leave. “I’ll like to rest now.” I added.

Eleni hurried after me. “What was that about, Theodota? You know he’s the Alpha’s son. You can’t be disrespectful to him.” She said in a lowered voice.

“I see.” I waved my hand nonchalantly.

She looked at me closely. “You’ve been acting strangely for the past few hours.” She muttered.

I smiled. “Strangely? In what way?” I asked.

“I don’t know. You don’t usually talk to Dimitris like this.” She said.

“Is that so? Does he like me?” I suddenly asked, holding her gaze.

She went pale. “W-what are you talking about?” She whispered.

“Nothing serious. You know it’s every ladies dream to get with Dimitris.” I shrugged.

A weird look crossed her eyes, but she masked it immediately with a shrill laugh. “Yeah, yeah of course. I thought he said something to you.”

“Something? Is he supposed to say something to me?” I pressed on, unwilling to let it go.

“No, no.” She replied. “Aha, you said we’d go shopping for a dress today, didn’t you?” She said, in an effort to change the topic. I let it be.

I followed her to the Omegas quarters, had a quick change of outfit, and accompanied her to a clothing store outside the Pack community.

“Purple suits you, Theo. Let’s get the dress, yes?” The insincerity in Eleni’s voice was as clear as day.

I twirled in the dress once more in front of the mirror. It was a pretty thing. Long to the ankle, slit at the side, with pearls adorning its chest and wrists. It was a bit cinched at the waist, and belled down to the bottom. Such a pity Eleni would ruin it soon.

“What do you think?” I asked, trying to seem eager.

“It fits you so well. I am convinced it was designed with you in mind.” She gushed.

“Right?” I smiled. “I’ll be taking it then.” I said.

Ten minutes later, we walked out of the store, two bags in hand, with me pretending that I hadn’t gone back to choose another blue dress while she wasn’t looking, and it was currently hidden in the bag I was holding. Walking with her just added to my fury, but I had no choice but to swallow it down.

“Theo, I’ll be stopping by to get some shoes. Why don’t you head on to the Pack first?” Eleni suddenly stopped and asked.

“Go on.” I simply said. I stood at a spot, and watched her disappear down the road. Bitch.

Unwilling to walk a full long hour back to the Pack, I decided to take a ride back home. While waiting for my ride, I tried to talk to my inner wolf.

‘Hey.’ I whispered down the link. I didn’t know how the conversation worked. Was I supposed to yell out loud, or perhaps speak in a different language?

A chilly yet soothing voice flowed through my head and mind seconds later.

‘Hey.’ It whispered. It was a very strange sensation.

‘Um, so…How’s this supposed to work? Do I like, um…’ I trailed off.

The voice chuckled. ‘Calm down, Theodota. You don’t necessarily have to speak. I am you, and you are me. You can simply think, and I’ll hear you.’ It said.

I wondered if inner wolves had names.

‘Don’t be silly, girl. My name is Alexandria. Dria, for short.’ She giggled.

‘Dria.’ I repeated. I was about to continue, when an assaulting torrrents of thoughts and images flowed through my mind.

All of sudden, I was standing in a warm colored room, hands entangled in a dark figure’s hair. He was kissing me, and I was grinding hard against him, pants escaping my throat. I was wearing a flimsy nightie, my legs straddling his waist.

It was a very brief moment, but before I could wonder what was happening, I was standing at the same spot—by the roadside. My body trembled.

“What just happened?” I gasped. What’d happened was very real. I could still feel his hands on my body.

‘I believe that was our mate sending thoughts to us.’ Dria replied.

‘Wait, what?’ I frowned.

‘I don’t know how well to explain it to you, Theo.’ She replied. My body was hot, and needy at that moment. I subconsciously pressed my legs together. Thankfully, my ride arrived at that moment. If it hadn’t, perhaps my legs would have given way.

As the ride started back to the Pack, I wondered which mate had sent the thoughts.

Unfortunately, when Dimitris had lowered his face close to mine back at the hallway, his hand on mine, I’d realized that he was also…

My mate.
