I woke to a Texas sunrise.

Golden light spilled across the prairie, cattle moving in the distance, mountains rising against the horizon. Everything looked peaceful, beautiful even.

But I knew the truth. My body was breaking down, piece by piece. Soon there'd be nothing left.
