Chapter 6 Divorce Is Fine, on the Condition That We Sleep Together First!
As Shirley gradually regained consciousness, she slowly focused her gaze on Blake.
"Who is this?"
She looked at her mother Lydia with confusion, full of curiosity about Blake's identity.
"Shirley, let me introduce you. This is your husband Blake!"
"Oh right, Blake, what's your full name?"
"Blake Reed!"
"Shirley, you heard that. This is your husband Blake Reed!"
"Husband?"
Shirley's deep blue eyes widened, filled with confusion.
"How did I suddenly end up with a husband I don't know at all?"
"Here's what happened..."
Stone patiently explained everything and spoke highly of Blake.
His words made Lydia Clark extremely unhappy.
"Shirley, your father was just desperate. He's worried you won't get married, worried the Gilbert family will have no heir!"
"I suggest you call off this marriage. With your qualities and looks, you deserve better!"
Lydia completely ignored Blake's feelings and tried to persuade Shirley right in front of him.
After taking in all this information, Shirley remained silent, quietly observing her husband Blake, who hadn't said a word.
After a long silence, she finally spoke.
"Mom, Dad, can I talk to Blake alone?"
"Of course!"
Lydia and Stone both responded excitedly in unison.
But after saying this, they both frowned involuntarily.
Clearly, they weren't on the same page about what they were thinking.
But for now, they both chose to respect their daughter's wishes and quickly left the room.
When only Shirley and Blake remained in the room, Shirley slowly spoke up.
"Hello, Mr. Reed. Thank you for accepting me, for still being willing to marry me after my health problems!"
"But you and I are not meant to be together. Now that I've recovered, let's cancel our marriage!"
"Don't worry, I'll compensate you after the divorce. As long as your demands aren't too excessive, I can agree to them!"
"Divorce?"
Blake was slightly stunned. He hadn't expected Shirley to bring this up now.
After thinking about it, he quickly understood.
Putting himself in Shirley's shoes, he would definitely make the same choice.
"No problem, I can agree!"
"Also, I don't want any compensation. I just need you to agree to one condition!"
"What condition?"
Shirley hadn't expected Blake to be so straightforward. Her impression of him improved a bit.
"As long as you sleep with me once, we'll go our separate ways and have nothing more to do with each other!"
"What?"
Shirley's beautiful face instantly turned furious.
"You shameless jerk!"
"You're disgusting!"
"I could never agree to that!"
No matter how she thought about it, she never imagined Blake would make such a request.
What did he take her for?
To ask her to sleep with him right off the bat?!
"Think it over carefully. Just once, and we can divorce anytime. Plus, I can guarantee your condition will never relapse!"
"If you don't agree, then sorry, but this marriage isn't something you can end just because you want to. I won't agree to it!"
Facing the furious Shirley, Blake showed no change in attitude.
He had gone to great lengths to treat Shirley, even nearly losing control of his Wolf King bloodline.
If he didn't collect some interest, wouldn't that make him a total pushover?
If she was willing to stay married to him and fulfill her duties as a wife, Blake naturally wouldn't care about this.
But since she wanted a divorce, why should Blake respect her wishes?
Using her Gallic Rooster bloodline to suppress his Wolf King bloodline—this request was perfectly reasonable!
"Get out!"
Shirley hadn't expected Blake to be so shameless. Trembling with anger, she yelled at him.
Blake acted completely indifferent. "My dear wife, calm down for now. I hope you'll seriously consider my request."
"Just once. After that, I won't bother you again!"
With that, Blake ignored Shirley and left the room.
"Bastard!"
Shirley grew even more furious and grabbed a cup from the table, smashing it hard on the floor.
Crash!
The sound of shattering glass immediately caught Stone and Lydia's attention.
They rushed in and asked Shirley what happened with great concern.
After learning the truth, Lydia was also trembling with anger.
"I knew this Blake was up to no good, and I was right!"
"Don't worry, sweetheart. No one can force you to do something you don't want to do. I'll handle this!"
With that, Lydia prepared to go find Blake.
"Wait, dear!"
Stone stopped Lydia. "Shirley, I think we should hold off on the divorce!"
"I don't think this Blake is that simple. We searched all over Europe for famous doctors to treat your condition, but they were all helpless."
"But Blake just did a simple procedure and brought you back to consciousness. Think about what that means!"
Shirley froze at his words, then checked how her body felt.
She found that her body did feel much clearer now, and there was even an indescribable special feeling, as if her whole physical condition was better than before.
Could it be?
Did this really have something to do with Blake?
Shirley wondered to herself, but then remembered Blake's words and got angry all over again.
"But even so, Blake shouldn't make such an outrageous request, right?"
"Leave this to me. I'll talk to Blake. As long as you don't agree to the divorce, I'm confident I can convince him not to sleep with you!"
Stone patted his chest and made a firm promise.
"Lydia, I know you have objections too, but please hear me out!"
"You both know our family's situation. Shirley is my only daughter, and she already faces huge obstacles in inheriting the family. Once people find out Shirley has recovered, there will be plenty of people wanting to marry her!"
"If Blake is around, he can serve as a good shield, keeping all those people with bad intentions away. Shirley will have enough energy to manage the family business and fully inherit the entire Gilbert family."
"Once you inherit the entire Gilbert family, Shirley, won't your happiness be in your own hands?"
After hearing Stone's complete reasoning, Shirley and her mother exchanged glances, then both fell silent.
Looking at it from this angle, maybe not divorcing for now wasn't such a bad idea!
