Brother's POV

I hadn't left my top-floor office in seventy-two hours. No food. No sleep. The air in the room was stale, thick with the smell of old whiskey and suffocating guilt. 

Every time I closed my eyes, I didn't see the blood on the pavement. I saw her at twelve years old.
