A Distant Past part 2

Freya's point of view

Drip, Drip, Drip I remember it raining. The earthly smell filling the air my brothers were off to train it was customary for all the male wolves to train atleast four times a week then once they reach adult age it doubles. She wolves on the other hand were expected to watch their pups and shape them into fine pack members.

"Mom may I go out and play I think the rain is going to stop any minute now?"

"No Freya my love you'll get all muddy and I just gave you a bath." My mother Serenity replied.

"hmmm" I turned back to the windows in a rage with my hand under my chin " Why do my brothers get to train outside along with papa but I have to be stuck inside it's so unfair?" Tear slowly fell from my grey eyes. Not being able to be outside for a wolf was torture even though I haven't gained my wolf yet I still longed to be free and run through the forest floor like wolves were meant to do.

My mother reached towards me with her hands stretched out in order to comfort me she swiftly swept the long hair strands that have fallen in front of my eyes and simply tucked it behind my ear. " One day Freya you will understand everything I do is to keep you safe and out of harms way. Not everyone you come across will be your friend you have to be very cautious especially being a she wolf." I watched as my mother would stare out the window as if to remember her past she let out a sigh before regaining her relaxed expression. "Come my love we must wait for your father and brothers to return home she simply patted my butt as if to tell me to go play in my room while she got dinner started. Being the youngest of my siblings was lonely yes I had my parents but it seemed to me my brothers were never around they always seemed to have better things to do other than be around me even back then the five year old me could sense it. Don't get me wrong they were never cold towards me just older and off to do their own things. So with my father trying to train my brothers to become men in our pack it was just me and my mother half the time. If I knew what would happen next I would have never pleaded with my mother once more to let me go out in the rain.

"Mom please why do my brothers get to run the woods and go out but I never get to do anything?"

My mother huffed "Freya your brothers are older than you and they had training that you have not had yet."

" Please Mom I promise I won't go far I'm all by myself please."

My mother sighed "Freya" after what felt like minutes she continued " Fine just please stay where I can see you."

I let out a smile of victory " I promise mom."

I quickly threw on my pink polka dotted rain coat and my bright pink rain boots and out the door I went. The freshly cleansed earth filled my five year old nostils. Growing up in Maine had its perks it was mostly forest which would make for the perfect habitat for my kind and it mostly rained here which in return masked our sent from any enemies that may be lurking at our pack border for the perfect time to strike. I often dreamed of running free one day I will gain my wolf and for once in my life I wouldn't feel quite as alone as I once did. I was seen as just the betas daughter in our pack the Moonstone pack. It was true my parents adored me of course I was their little girl their only little girl at that but that's different family in general was just different than having an actual friend. My parents kept me grounded always over protective over me versus my brothers that is. I was so deep in thought most likely due to the rain it was just therapeutic and I would often feel trapped in my mind when it would rain I didn't even watch where I was going.

" Hey watch where your going." Lucas growled. Lucas was the alphas son his second born. He had an older brother named Rollin but unlike Lucas, Rollin was always generous towards me. Lucas was mean spirited everything out of his mouth was an insult mostly towards me. Lucas was kind to everyone but me.

" I'm so sorry Lucas I didn't see you there."

" Wait til my father hears about this. After all he only wants you here because your father is the beta. If it wasn't for him you wouldn't even be living here."

" That's not true your father loves my brothers'"

"Yeah your brothers because they have a purpose in the pack unlike yourself." With that Lucas pushed me to the ground as he walked away into which ever direction he was headed in. I just layed there waiting for the pain to subside. Tears flowed from my eyes and I did the one thing I promised my mother I wouldn't do I ran deep into the forest inorder to regain my composure. I ran and ran til I couldn't run no more til I came up to the little pond that lye in the middle of the forest floor. Seeing my reflection across the shimmering liquid when I see myself reflected back at me I saw a nobody. Lucas was right everyone in the pack had a purpose all except one... me. My father was the beta with an important job being the Alphas second in command and all with Jai soon to take over as the next beta in line. The rest of my brothers will be training to help protect the pack and soon to be given different ranks through out the pack I'm sure of it. My mother raising us to be respectable wolves of the pack as well. But where does that leave me?

Soon in the distance I could hear leaves crunching and fate as I know it will be changed forever.
