Chapter 3 Over Her Dead Body!

Chapter Two

Our son? What the actual fuck?

Had Camille gone senile?

Serena thought she must have gone hard of hearing. Perhaps she did not hear well.

Theo was HER son! He was the son she had with Julian! The Heir to the Voss Empire

How dare Camille try to lay claim to her son, even after having her husband all to herself?!

But Julian’s next words confirmed her worst fears.

“Yes babe, thank you for giving me such a beautiful son. An heir. I swear, everything I have is for you and Theo,”

“But my god, Serena is so dumb!” Camille giggled, “How could she not know she was raising my son all these years?! I mean, he looks nothing like her. Or did her desperation to remain Mrs Voss made her lose her common sense?!”

“She’s always been a loser. A clueless loser. Thank goodness, we swapped her baby with yours at the hospital that night,” Julian went on, fondling Camille’s breasts, “Now, she’s just a free nanny. Hahaha! And her son will be my Theo’s savior. Once we extract his bone marrow and have the surgery, we’d get rid of both of them. They are nothing to me.”

“And Theo must have the Marsh land,” Camille said, giving Julian a coquettish look, “And the entire Voss Empire, right?”

“Right.”

Serena reeled in shock, the hallway blurring due to the tears marring her vision, and the sudden aching in her head.

She was gasping softly, one hand against her chest as white blinding pain sliced through her.

Theo was not her son but the love child of her husband and his first love Camille Reyes.

Her own helpless baby was swapped with him when she gave birth seven years ago.

Serena choked in horror.

And not only was he swapped, he was the bone marrow donor for Theo.

Her son was stolen away from her, and he was going to be used to save theirs, his bone marrow stripped away from him!

She stumbled from the door, her heels clicking on the marble floor.

She did not care if she made a racket, but she did not have the heart or the strength to confront those bastards.

She stumbled down to the first floor, avoiding the party as she inched towards the door.

“I need to get out of here,” she muttered feverishly, gasping at intervals, “I need to breathe. I want to get out of here.”

Suddenly, someone bumped into her to her right, and Serena staggered, tripping over her own shaky legs and high heels.

She felt herself falling and the room swirled.

In the next instant, a strong hand clasped around her waist, and pulled her up, holding her close to a strong, massive chest, underneath which a heart was beating as loudly as her own.

Serena looked up and was immediately mesmerized by storm-gray eyes, framed in a strikingly handsome face. The man before her had high cheekbones, a chiseled jaw, and long dark curls, styled back from his face.

Serena shivered, not merely from her own swirling emotions after the disaster she witnessed upstairs but from the domineering aura which rolled off the man before her.

For long moments, she stared into these beautiful eyes, which strangely had a calming effect on her heart, the entire world falling away from them.

“Are you okay, ma’am?”

The man asked, his low deep voice washing over her, sending tingles down her spine and breaking the spell.

Before Serena could answer, a voice uttered sharply from behind her, “What the hell is going on here?!”

Serena turned in the man’s arms to find the entire Voss family staring at her.

Julian, Evelyn, and…Camille.

They all wore twin expressions of anger and digust at her, except Camille whose lips were curved in a slight malicious smile.

Serena’s eyes harmed into emerald stones at the sight of that smile. Her body trembled with so much anger that the huge man by her side looked at her in concern, having actually felt those tremors.

“Serena, what the hell are you doing in road daylight in the arms of another man in my house?!” Julian said through gritted teeth, but his voice was not very low.

A she spoke, he glared at the storm-gray eyed gentleman who stared back at him. The deathly coolness of the man’s gaze had him swallowing hard involuntarily but it did nothing to douse the jealousy burning in him.

He’d come downstairs to rejoin the party when he’d spied his wife in another man’s arms.

Out there for the world to see!

How dare they act way before him?

Considering the fact that they were the actual hosts of the party, and they were standing in the middle of the hall looking for all the world like a stand-off, the other guests quickly turned their attention to them.

Serene narrowed her eyes at Julian’s absurd words, her voice trembling with rage as she bit out, “What?!”

“This is a very important event!,” Evelyn uttered, in a much quieter voice as she stepped forward and gripped Serena’s arm tightly, “Marcus Reeve and his people are here waiting for that photograph with us! You will not ruin it for us with your gutter behavior!”

Serena stared at Evelyn, seeing the usual hatred in the depths of the elderly woman’s eyes.

This was typical Evelyn.

The Matriarch to the Voss Empire. Her mother-in-law. One of the many reasons why Elena was plucking gray hairs off her temple at just twenty-nine years of age.

From the very day she’d been brought into the Voss family as a ward by the former Matriarch, Evelyn had hated her.

She could not stand Elena receiving favors from the then Matriarch, who was very hard to please, and for some strange reason, did not like Evelyn herself.

When the Matriarch died ten years ago, Evelyn’s hatred for Serena only increased when the old woman’s dying wish was for her to marry her grandson and heir to the Voss Empire, Julian Voss.

Evelyn had fought vehemently against it, and Julian Voss himself had not been pleased with the idea.

However, just before the Matriarch died, Evelyn and Julian came around, agreeing to the marriage.

Serena had been too elated to question the change of heart, partly because she had been madly in love with Julian from the moment she set her eyes on him, and partly because she did not want to lose the safety of a family.

She laughed bitterly.

Now she knew why.

They just wanted her land, and wanted her to care for another child while hers languished away, far from her love. They just wanted her to be docile and clueless while they cut her child open and use him to save their heir.

Over her dead body.

At that moment, Camille walked calmly and majestically towards them.

“Serena, you really shouldn’t be acting like this. How could you whore yourself out to another man in the presence of Julia…argh!”

Camille gasped in horror, stumbling to the floor as Serena gave her a deafening slap.
