Sophia sat in the makeshift med station at the base of the Rockies, phone clenched in her hand, eyes locked on the screen.

A red dot pulsed on the map—Jack's location tracker.

The dot crept along the northern ridge. Slower. Slower. Then it stopped.

Then it vanished.

"Eli. Where's his signal?"
