Dad mindlinked for us to come to dinner. When I walked in, I was surprised to see Alpha Michael, Luna Jessica, their children, and thankfully Alpha Jase. I took the empty seat between Jase and my dad. All I could do was hope that this would go better than this afternoon.

Alpha Michael: “So Stephanie, you seem to be awfully close to Alpha Jase, is there something I need to know about?”

Alpha Jase: “Alpha Michael, I think that –“

I interrupted him.

Stephanie- “I am not sure why you would need to know about anything in my life?”

Alpha Michael: “I am your father that entitles me to know if you have a mate.”

Stephanie- “Being my sperm donor, entitles you to nothing.”

Luna Jessica- “What the hell did you just say little girl? He is your father and an alpha, you will show some respect.”

Stephanie- “I will say this again because you people must have a hearing and memory problem. I want nothing to do with you people. I have a family. I have a life. None of that involves any of you.”

Alpha Michael- “You listen here child, you will know your place.”

Dad is on his feet with a growl.

Alpha Noah: “You will know your place in my house with my family. This is quite enough. She doesn’t want to talk with you, so shut the hell up or leave. I don’t really care. You have caused enough problems today.”

Alpha Michael and his family got up and left the room, mumbling things about respect and never been treated like this.

The rest of dinner went by smoothly. It was quiet but overall fine. Everyone went to their rooms to prepare for the busy day ahead.

I lay in my bed for hours trying to unwind and calm down from the days events and when no ease came, I pulled out my phone.

Stephanie- “Uncle Luke can I head that way tonight? I don’t want to deal with Alpha Michael and the Black Mountain pack. I will explain more when I get there, if it’s ok.”

All I could now was wait. I’m sure my parents had already gave them some of the information. Thankfully it only took 15 minutes.

King Luke- “Of course you can head this way. Just be careful.”

Stephanie- “See you in a few hours.”

King Luke- “We will wait up.”

I got up and went to my parent’s room and knocked on the door.

Alpha Noah- “Come in”

Stephanie- “Hey, I know it’s a weak move and I am running from this situation, but I messaged Uncle Luke to see if I could head up there tonight and he said ok. I know you will take care of everything, but I don’t want anything to happen, and I want to clear my head.”

Luna Olivia- “Sweetheart, this is a rough situation if you think this is something you need of course you can go.”

Alpha Noah- “Your mom is right. I know this is overwhelming and you want to feel safe and comfortable. Just make sure you are safe and let us know as soon as you get there.”

I rushed to them and hugged them both. I needed them to feel how much I love them.

Stephanie- “Thank you. I hope you both know how much I love you. I am so sorry that this is happening. You are my parents.”

Luna Olivia- “We know baby. Be safe. Let us know when you get there. We will see you tomorrow. We love you so much.”

The three-and-a-half-hour drive went smoothly. Unfortunately, the drive only seemed to cause more unease. As I got to the house Uncle Luke, Aunt Casey, and Elijah were at the house to meet me. I was disappointed Anthony wasn’t there, but it just added to my emotions. As soon as I opened the door, Aunt Casey was there pulling me into a hug.

As soon as she was hugging me, I broke. Everything that happened seemed to overwhelm me all at once. She helped me inside while the guys grabbed my bags. I cried for what felt like forever before I finally was able to let out a deep breath.

King Luke- “Feeling better sweetie?”

Stephanie- “I just don’t know what to do with this. I should probably explain everything. I know mom and dad must have talked to you.”

Queen Casey- “Sweetie, your parents told us some, but they knew you would want to talk with us.”

Elijah- “Hey, take your time. Tell us what you need. We are here.”

Stephanie- “Alpha Michael and his pack showed up today. As soon as I saw them, I saw something familiar. When he looked at me though everything came flooding back. I was overwhelmed with memories. The kidnapping is foggy, but I know they brought me across the country to kill me without suspicion. I only escaped by chance. I was supposed to die that day. When I showed up for dinner they swarmed. Michael felt he was entitled to know about my life. He was looking for a power grab what could he get out of it. That was all I am, a chance. He didn’t ask about my childhood, my schooling, or anything just if I had a mate and why I hadn’t informed him.”

I was spiraling. I felt the panic overtaking me. I needed to get outside. I told them I needed a minute alone outside. Elijah tried to come with me, but he knew better. This wasn’t the first time I had a panic like this; they came and went throughout life.

I made it to the garden. My favorite place in the territory. I tear came again.

Anthony- “Stephaie?”

I looked up to see him, and everything changed. I felt the bond reach and lock into place. Anthony. My mate.
