Chapter 3 My King Alpha
The boy seemed not to hear me and continued clinging to me as if his life depended on it. The footsteps drew closer, and I knew there was no escape anymore. Several wolves arrived, and I recognized them all. The Alpha of the pack, his delta and Gamma, as well as the other wolves trained to defend the entire territory.
They transformed into humans as soon as they saw there was no danger. Steven looked at the two of us and then at the dead wolf. He looked at the dagger in my hand, and his eyes were filled with doubt. I would have smiled at his surprise, but I was being crushed by the little boy.
"What happened?" The Alpha's voice sounded authoritative, as if he were submitting me to his great authority so that I could tell the truth.
"How innocent!" Harper mocked the Alpha, and I had to control myself not to smile at her joke.
"An invading wolf, tearing two people apart." I respond and point to the bodies on the ground, noticing that the Alpha hadn't seen them there yet.
"Who is the boy?" the pack's delta asks, looking at the blood-covered boy wrapped around me.
It seemed impossible, but I felt his grip on my body tighten. That was a wolf boy without a doubt.
"The Alpha King is coming to investigate the invasion!" An unknown wolf appears, observing the whole situation.
"Looks like we're going to meet the King in the end." Harper teases me, looking excited.
"Don't forget that we could both be thrown on the bonfire." I say seriously, taking all of Harper's excitement away.
"Who killed the wolf?" Steven asks, staring at me confused and with a little anger.
Was he angry? I believed that only I had sufficient reason to be.
"Me." I answer simply.
Laughter fills the place and everyone looks at me as if I were crazy.
"You?" Delta asks with a sarcastic voice.
"Do you see anyone else here?" I ask coldly, feeling my anger rising.
Were they having fun? There was a boy crying and they were laughing as if they were in a circus.
"Alpha." Alpha's Gamma calls him, takes the dagger from my hand and walks towards him.
Alpha Steven examines the dagger. Alpha glanced at me and the dagger several times, as if doubting what had happened. I analyzed him closely, noticing the recently placed ring on his finger. We were treating each other as if we had never received the call of mates.
I was surprised to notice that I no longer felt anything. Everything had truly vanished. The will to try again no longer existed.
"Make way for the King!" A voice sounded from afar, so full of authority that everyone obeyed immediately.
The man must have been one of King Alpha's officers, who also had authority over all the wolves. Suddenly, that scent filled the air again. But this time it was different, it felt like a drug pulling me towards it. Something purely primal.
In a second, black eyes entered my field of vision, paralyzing me. Soon a deep, loud voice, full of power, sounded as if it were law:
"Mine!"
"Mine." My voice came out weak and low.
That man with black hair and tanned skin looked at me possessively. I stared at him, mouth agape, unable to believe what was happening. Harper was in complete ecstasy, vibrating with happiness and desire. I felt the same. My eyes drifted down to his lips, memorizing every contour that seemed perfect.
Then the Alpha King began walking towards me, the world around us seeming to cease to exist. I followed his every step, his steps moving swiftly towards me. As he approached, his steps stopped abruptly.
His gaze darkened even further, and his eyes shifted away from mine. The Alpha King was looking at something behind me, and a growl escaped his lips.
"They want to kill her!" I heard the Alpha King's officer say, already positioning himself beside his King.
Then the Alpha King leaped, transforming in mid-air and landing behind me. The King was positioned protectively, growling at the invisible danger to most of us.
Soon all the wolves transform and follow the King, who attacks. I knew that King Alpha had the most powerful wolf, but I never imagined it was possible for such a large wolf to exist. Just like the King, his officers also had their larger wolves. The difference was more than a meter. Whatever the threat was, it wouldn't survive for long.
I finally manage to concentrate and see that there were five more wolves around me. They weren't from the pack; they must have come with the King. They were close to me, as if protecting me. I feel the tightness in my legs lessen and only then do I remember the boy.
I see his body weaken rapidly and manage to catch him in my arms before he hits the ground. I check his breathing and sigh with relief. I look at him with pity; it had been a hard day for him. But for me, it hadn't been any different.
"We found him!" Harper screams ecstatically. "Mine! Mine!" she says repeatedly with all her might.
"Are you crazy? How can you be happy? He's the King!" I say, feeling my breath quicken.
Behind me, I can hear the heavy footsteps of the Alpha King coming towards me.
"Don't you dare!" Harper grunts at me angrily.
"I'm sorry!" I apologize, feeling a tear roll down my cheek.
I leave the boy on the ground and transform. I see surprise in the eyes of the wolves around me, but I don't waste any time running. Everyone seemed unsure what to do; after all, who dared to run from the King?
I ran as fast as I could, feeling a pain in my chest. Tears streamed down my face as I felt Harper fight against me.
"He's mine! He's mine!" Harper screamed furiously.
"We'll die if we stay!" I scream louder, still crying.
That pain was indescribable. It felt like a serious wound was being inflicted on my chest, I could feel it throbbing. I couldn't help but let out a groan of pain, but I didn't stop running for a minute. Soon I could hear the heavy footsteps of King Alpha behind me.
I started running faster, but even so I could still smell that intoxicating scent. Despite running fast, I felt the King getting closer and closer. It wasn't long before I could see him running after me through the trees.
I wouldn't make it, the King would catch me. I shed another tear, knowing that a part of me wanted the King to succeed. But I couldn't, I couldn't stay. I turned towards the cliff; jumping into the sea was the only way to escape.
"STOP!" I heard his order in an angry tone.
I kept running and saw that this surprised him.
"I TOLD YOU TO STOP!" The King ordered again, and I ignored him again.
