Chapter 5 Chapter 5
Jewel POV
The next day, I woke up to the sun's rays and kissed my bare face through my window. I rub my eyes and get out of bed. I can feel the swelling in my chin.
I went to my husband's room to see if he was already awake. I knocked several times, but no one responded. I slowly opened the door and found no one. The masculine scent of my husband's perfume filled my nose the moment I was inside the room. I meandered the room to make sure my husband was nowhere, and all I could see was the messed-up bed and those bottles of empty alcohol.
I cleaned the room and fixed the messy bed by replacing a new pillow, bed sheets, and blanket. After cleaning everything, I left the room, went downstairs, and cooked food for breakfast. I was busy cutting ingredients for my afritada when my phone rang. I promptly answered the call when I saw it was my best friend calling.
"Calli!" I yawp.
I heard her laugh over the phone. "Hey, Mercyl, miss me?" Calli responded.
"So damn much, best! How's your life?" I asked.
"I think I am the one who needs to ask that question to you. How's your life, Mercyl?"
"Of course, I'm fine," I replied.
"Don't lie to me. I know and I feel that you're not telling me the truth! You're not okay, am I right?" She asked me worriedly.
My eyes begin to get teary as to what my best friend asks. I wanted to tell her everything, but I preferred not to.
"Okay, I get it. You don't want to talk about it, but always remember I'm here for you. Whenever you need someone to listen. Oh, before I forget, I just want to tell you that I'm already here in the Philippines, so see you."
We talked a bit longer before we ended the call. I just finished my food and did the dishes when I heard the main door open. I went out of the kitchen and saw that it was my husband. I smiled at him, but my smile disappeared right away when I saw him with a woman. I feel ashamed while looking at my posture as a mess, while the woman looks so sexy, beautiful, and well-dressed.
"Until when you'll be blocking our way?" the woman asked. I step back.
But for a moment, the woman stopped and turned to look over at me. "Are you his maid? Can you get me some water? I feel thirsty," the woman requested in a bitchy way.
I didn't protest and just obeyed the woman's order when I noticed my husband was staring at me. I quickly took some water from the kitchen and poured it into the glass. As I was about to give the glass of water, I stopped by the view of my husband and the woman in the living room kissing torridly as if they're the only people at that moment.
I prevent myself from crying. I don't want to look weak in front of them. I dashes towards them to give them the glass of water, but unexpectedly I stumble up and accidentally throw the water off onto the woman's dress.
"What the hell!" the woman shrieked out.
"I'm so sorry; I don't intend to," I replied.
"Look what you've done to my dress! You bitch," the woman said infuriatingly.
"I said I'm sorry, okay? It was an accident; I didn't know that it would happen." I said.
The woman's eyes widened because of what she heard: "You're just a maid, aren't you? How could you speak English fluently?" shock is visible on her face.
"Who said that I'm a maid? For your information, I'm his wife," I point out.
She laughs sarcastically at what I've said. "Stop making me laugh; you aren't the type of woman that Thunder Alcantara likes to be. Keep dreaming, bitch," she mockingly said.
"And stop saying nonsense, slut." I was exhorted.
"How dare you!" and slapped me.
Anger fills up the whole being, which leads her to pull the woman's hair. But she loses interest in pulling the woman's hair when strong pressure jolts her away.
"How dare you hurt her? You useless shit!" Thunder shouted while pointing a finger at me.
"So, is it my fault? The flirty bitch did it first," I said.
My world spun when I received a slap from him.
"Don't you ever shout in front of my woman! You might forget you're in my house," he said.
I sat down while holding my swollen, red cheeks. Why do I need to feel this pain? Am I not enough? I did everything for him, but why can't he love me back?
I don't want to hear their moans and pleasure while they're making those hilarious things.
While I was sitting on my bed, my phone rang, and a message popped up coming from my best friend.
'Hello, Mercyl, meet me at Starbucks.'
After reading the message, I instantly took a quick bath and dressed up to meet her. At first, I hesitated whether to tell my husband or not, but in the end, I left without telling him.
When I arrived at the Starbucks, I immediately gave my payment to the taxi driver.
As I step inside, the smiling face of my best friend waving at me is the first thing I see.
