Chapter 2 Chapter 2

What about our mate bond? I asked with surprise when Miracle screamed at the top of her voice when she saw Logan. She ran from the dining table and leaped into his arms, wrapping herself around him like she hadn’t seen him in years. Why was she acting as if she had every right to my mate?

“Come have breakfast with us,” Rebecca said politely, Logan sat on the table with his jaw tight. I then lunged forward to sit beside him at the table to get answers about his sudden appearance this morning when Rebecca's voice came from behind, “No, not you. You don't belong at this table.” my stomach twisted, even if she hates me so much, at least she should pretend at this moment.

I sat down politely back on the floor and realized today was the day Logan promised to take me home with him, the day he would formally declare me as his luna, Even though the entire pack looked down on me for being wolfless, he never once mocked or insulted me.

Or wait, did he bring a surprise gift for me to strengthen our mate bond? whatever gifts he brought I would value it, and I deserve it because on his birthday, I had used up all my little savings to buy the pair of sneakers he had always loved. That was how much I loved him.

Have you made the preparations? I finally broke the silence after the long silence of them eating, and I was bored with sitting alone on the floor.

“What preparations?” Logan asked, frowning.

“About moving in with you,” I said.

“that's exactly why I came,” he replied, “because you won't be moving in with me.” “What do you mean by that?” My voice shook despite my efforts to stay calm.

“Can you just shut up and let him eat? Miracle barked at me, “No!” I shouted, standing up from the floor. I could tolerate anything, but not my mate's confusing behavior. Likewise, I had arranged all my bags and clothes two weeks before now, and I had been dreaming about this moment; I wouldn't let it slip away like that.

Miracle, being her normal self, took the pasta on her plate and turned it over my head, sauce dripped on my eyes, and into my hair.as everyone in the room laughed, but Logan covered his mouth with his palms while trying to hold his laughter in.

“Are you going to sit there and do nothing?” I said, looking at Logan while she tried to avoid looking at my eyes.

What do you want me to do, Amanda? Logan said, turning to me, You should’ve kept your mouth shut. You embarrassed yourself.

I deserved it? I asked in surprise, “I'm your mate, and you are supposed to protect me, and…” “Shut up,” Logan shouted. “I'm not your dad; he's meant to protect you, not me. I can't keep solving your baby problems. You cling to me every time something goes wrong. I’m tired of carrying your weakness.

“You heard him, loser,” Miracle added, looking at me with a wicked smile. “you can’t do this to me, Logan, not after all we’ve been through, Logan. Please, even if you no longer love me, at least let me move in with you. I'll do anything you want.

“There is no we, Logan replied. “I’m the Beta of the Crestwood Pack,” he snapped. “Do you think I’d ruin my reputation for a weak, wolfless girl like you?”

“Please, Logan…” My voice broke as I clutched his legs.

But Logan turned deaf ears to me, please;instead , he said, “I, Logan—Beta of the Crestwood Pack—reject you, Amanda, as my mate.”

“No!” I screamed as a searing pain tore through my chest, forcing me to my knees.

“Fine,” I replied, “I accept your rejection.” The words tasted like poison, but I said them anyway.

The bond between us snapped like a stretched thread.

A hollow ache replaced the warmth I had carried for two years.

For a moment, I couldn’t breathe.

Not because of the pain — but because I had truly believed he was my escape.

I ran into my small room to cry, my mate of two years gone like that, but I couldn't let anything break me now; I had to find a way to leave this house.

after I had wiped my tears The world felt strangely silent after he left the house.

Even the wind seemed to pity me.

I told myself I wouldn’t cry again.

I went to the backyard to pick up the broom and start my chores, Miracle was there. In Logan’s arms. Their lips locked like I had never existed.

Logan? I said as they both jumped in shock, Miracle awkwardly adjusted her hair, avoiding my gaze, and then I said, "This is why you broke up with me. You couldn't even wait until you went out after everything I did for you, Logan.

Logan looked at me coldly. “Get over yourself, Amanda.” I never planned to marry you anyway. I was just using you to get to your sister. She's prettier than you and has everything, which clearly you don't have. Did you ever wonder why I never touched you?

You’re not attractive, Amanda. No man would ever choose you.I then ran back into the house, cleaning my tears, I was shattered, but there was no one in this world who would stand up for me.

I had to bear the humiliation after Logan had left. I silently finished my duties, refusing to let them see the storm raging inside me.

“Don’t forget to feed the cats,” Aunty Rebecca reminded coldly before they left.

After they had left, I went to the dining room to eat the remaining scraps of pasta and started my work.

After I had worked for three hours straight, my hands gave out, and I fell asleep. After I woke up, Panic shot through me as I checked the fading light outside. it was already evening time, and they would be back any moment. Only the farm was remaining to complete.

Oh god, not again. I remembered that the cats hadn't eaten. Come here, Bubu, I said to the cat to feed it as it darted toward the busy road where cars sped recklessly.

“Come back here!” I screamed, chasing after it.

“There you are—”I said as I finally picked it up.

I scratched behind Bubu’s ears, forcing a small smile.

“At least you don’t look at me like I’m worthless,” I muttered.

I didn’t realize a car was speeding toward me until bright headlights blinded my vision.

The driver swerved sharply, and the car slammed violently into the building beside the road. I ran to see who that was, and it was a tall, muscular young man. He was unconscious with a cut on his forehead.
