Chapter 6

Micaela.

My eyes were staring at the same man in fear and trepidation.

When he asked me to turn I hide my face with the hand bag what if he knows my husband and inform him. What if my husband assigned him to kill me and I in my absurdity served myself hiding inside his car? Why but the theories my mind came up with felt so true to myself. He is an unpredictable man and can do anything out of anger? However, when this man loud dangerous voice ordered me to drop the bag my body shook with indescribable terror and the bag sipped from my hands.

“P... Please… don’t… kill me.” I implored helplessly. I was scared to my bones when his shoes clicked the concrete plastered road making me aware of his approaching steps.

After waiting for few minutes which felt like an hour, I peeled my lashes and the world stilled around me.

Clad in suit like some businessman his steps were firm and intimidating. I took a step back. He was taller, must be above six feet height, his black hair was combed back, firm sets of jaw covered in a dusting of dark bristles, high cheekbones and sharp eyes with the colour of chocolate dark brown- sinful looks that ready to rob me of the ability to breath. He moves his body with sheer confidence like some leader and his aura screams an invincible power around him.

Although he is dressed in business suit like some CEO of any company but something the way he carries himself, gives strong, dangerous and deadly vibes.

And the moment he pointed the gun back at me my eyes widened and heartbeat increased faster. He was a dangerous person!!!

“Who are you and what the fuck were you doing in my car?” He growled menacingly. His tone filled with anger.

The same tone my husband uses upon his men and when he was angry with me. When he punishes me for no crime!

My body trembled and chest constricted before spilling new sets of tears.

“I…I’m…Micaela..”I whimpered. His lips in a slow motion curved up in a smirk and his eyes gleam brightly.

“Micaela…” His voice deep and it vibrates throughout my body. He glanced back for once and took few steps back and leaned leisurely against the bonnet of his car with his long legs crossed. I watched his shiny black shoes which has a reflection of brightness of the sun.

“What is your last name and what were you doing in my car?” He interrogated. My eyes shot up at him who’s free hand shuffling inside his pant pocket and ducked out a packet of cigarette. With his thumb he removed the paper lid and bringing the packet closer taking between his teeth dragged one out. Then he put inside the packet and with a lighter burn the end and drag a puff of smoke when his brown orbs zeroed on me. His brows rose up questioningly. I inhaled a deep breath nervously and pondered what and how much should I tell him.

“Are you testing my patience. If.. then don’t.. because I’m not a patient man.” he took a long drag and the releasing the smoke in the air continued, “Let me self-introduce myslef. I’m sure you have heard the name Adan Leandro. His voice chilling calm but the danger was evident.

My whole body froze. I stared at him numb. “Yes, that’s me!”

Adan Leandro. The mafia king of Spain. I ran from one deadly man and my destiny brought me in front of another deadlier and dangerous one.

“Micaela Ruiz. My name is Micaela Ruiz.” I spoke calmly. I’m not going back to Albert and be his toy, his showpiece. No matter what, I won’t let anyone take away my new freedom. So, I lied.

I gulped my dry throat before resuming. “My parents were dead. My step mom sold me off to an old man and I fled from my house when his men stalked me and I hid in your car.” Once more I lied to him. My words came out effortlessly. My heart drummed inside my chest and hoped that he would believe me.

My gaze was on the floor the entire time.

“Hmmm.” And I lift my eyes at him. Did he believe me and would let me go? But his expression unpredictable. Adan Leandro was someone whose path I shouldn’t have crossed but fate played. I was never lucky. There was complete silence between us.

“I will give you two options.” He continued and threw the butt of the cigarette and rubbed his one foot over it. Taking able steps, he approached me. His eyes travelled over my body and back to my face. I trembled. His other hand still holds the gun.

He stood face to face with one hand distance between us.

“One: You will work for me.” He spoke calmly and pointed the gun between my eyes. ” Two: I will shoot you for trespassing in my car.” He ended with a hard gaze sending chill down my spine. I can feel the harsh intensity of his words over my skin.

Just because I hid in his car, he is going to kill me!!!

He can do it. I have heard a lot about his ruthless side, how he kills men without any mercy through Albert’s mouth.

I wont work for him. For a gang leader. Killing, smuggling. God knows what kind of work he wants me to do.

He watched my face intently waiting for an answer. I sucked a deep breath and licked my lips. His eyes followed my movement and I noticed a glint shining in those brown orbs.

“I’m sorry. please let me go.” I answered meekly. His eyes narrowed with my reply as if he wasn’t expecting this.

“There is no third option. Either work for me or die.” His face was hard and he glared at me.

“What kind of work?” My question brought a mysterious smirk on his face. My eyes widened when I realized what work he meant. No. No. Never. I won’t let another man use me for their sick pleasure.

My body turned cold and I was restless anticipating what he meant.

“I need a maid in my mansion. Cleaning and cooking.” After his answer I stared at him, and then confused.

“Just a maid?” I asked perplexed. Not understanding his intention. This time he smiled. The same malicious smile as before.

“Yes. Only a maid.” I nodded and rapidly blinked my lashes. Accepting his option and not denying seems like a wise decision. I know he is my husband’s business associate and if by any chance he comes across my identity, he would send her back to my husband’s dungeon. So, she has to trade smartly.

Schooling her features, she nodded her head and spoke, “Okay. Anything else?” He pushed himself away from the car and stalked near her like some predator. Her fingers clasp and unclasp in a fist with anticipation.

Now he was standing an inch gap between them. He leans down her level. His unique wood and musky cologne invade her nostril and her stomach tightens. Her throat dries up when his lips were near her ear and whispers.

“I will let you know if I need more, but now I want a maid.” Hot breath from his mouth fanning her earlobe when he spoke and goosebumps rose over her skin and she gulped.

Why was he standing so…so close?
