Chapter 4 At the house warming party!

Later at night, as I was leaving the building, I stopped short, noticing Kai was leaning against his car in the lot. He was waiting.

“What are you doing here?” I asked, walking over.

“Waiting for you,” he said with a low voice.

“You could have just called.”

“ I did, multiple times, " he said. He raised an eyebrow. I pulled out my phone and checked. Then I winced. It had been on silent this whole time.

“Sorry, I didn't hear it.”

“ Don't bother, just get in," he said as I obeyed him and stepped into the car. The drive home was thick with tension. After a few minutes of silence, he spoke.

“What the hell were you doing during tryouts today?” I immediately played innocent.

“I wasn't doing anything.” He gripped the steering wheel tighter.

“You know I have a girlfriend, Allison. A dangerous one. She's very obsessive and she already suspects something. You have to stay in your lane. Please,” he said as I shrugged while looking out the window.

“I don't know what you're talking about, " I said, still behaving obliviously.

“Bullshit,” he called with a dropping voice. “You were teasing and pressing against me. You know what you were doing. You were looking at me like you wanted me to bend you over right there over that mat. I have a girlfriend, Allison, and Brian is my best friend. We can't do this.”

I turned to face him with a racing heart.

“ Then why did you wait for me? Why did you wait for me tonight? Why did you keep saving me? Why can't you stop looking at me the way you do? Like you want to…”

He did not answer. What was he up to? Are we headed somewhere? What are we? Currently? Presently? I am desperate to find out.

“You know what? Forget this. Forget I said any of that. Let's just forget about it and change the topic.” As I said, trying to defuse the heat.

“Yeah, talking about new topics.” Kai's voice immediately went high, immediately went up. And resistant.

“We should set some ground rules, you see. You're my responsibility while you live with me.”

“ Excuse you?”

“There's gonna be a curfew at 9 PM. No parties, no flirting, as we definitely cannot be together, and no frat boys. No flirting with other boys as well. And you're gonna share your live location with me all the time.”

I stared at him, stunned.

“Are you insane? Who do you think you are? My father? I cannot flirt with you, and I can't also flirt with other boys. What do you mean by that? Who do you think you are?”

He suddenly pulled the car over to the side of the road and killed the engine, which was deafening. “I'm your roommate," he said, turning to face me fully. “Not only that, I'm also your brother's best friend.”

“ Yes, we are roommates, which means we are equals. You do not get to tell me what to do.” I said as he leaned closer, with his stormy gray eyes locking into mine.

“You seem to be forgetting that I'm your brother's best friend, and Brian has already given me control over you as well as permission to boss you around and tell you when you're being naughty. And right now, Allison, you're being very, very naughty.” His voice then dropped to a rough whisper.

“Do you want to be naughty? Want to know what I do to naughty girls who look at me like that?”

“ Like how?” I gritted with a hammering heart. It was obvious that I was looking at him. I was telling him with my eyes to ruin me desperately. Like I was so hungry for him. He gazed intently at me with silence before he continued.

“Like they want to be wrecked by me so badly.” He said as he stared into my eyes. Unconsciously, I did not even stare away or look away from him. It was like I was lost in those grey eyes. He then moved suddenly, closing the distance. His breath ghosted down my neck as he whispered.

“Why are you doing this, Allison? Why are you making it so difficult to resist you?” Heat radiated through my body. I felt so dizzy with want.

“Then don't resist, " I whispered back, barely recognizing my own voice, like I did not know what I was doing or what I was saying. “Come to me willingly. Please, surrender to me.”

“No…, I can't. We can't do this. We shouldn't do this.” He fought out, even though his body was betraying him.

“One day you would have to.” I continued, when he was murmuring, almost unconsciously, against my skin.

“One day, you're going to have to break, Kai.” I said, as he pulled back like the words burned him.

“ No, no, no, no, this shouldn't be happening. We can't do this.” He started the car again as he broke from my conversation with his clenched jaw. The rest of our drive was silence and filled with tension. Even though the air between us was alive, I set my mind to focus on what mattered, making the share squad and building a life here, no matter how badly I wanted him, no matter how badly I wanted to conquer him.

It was like we were welcomed with the housewarming party when we got back. It was in full swing. Rita had already taken care of the preparations. After all, it's her boyfriend's place. Music was booming through the dorm suites. Abigail had shown up with a group of her friends, and they quickly pulled me into the circle, laughing and making me feel included. Kai's hockey teammates filled the space with loud energy, while Rita arrived like royalty with her cheer squad and loyal minions trailing behind her. The party was lit. Everyone danced while the drinks were flowing, and for a while I let myself enjoy it. Then the beer ran out. Kai and a few guys volunteered to make a quick run to the store next door for more beer and champagne. The moment I stepped out, Rita's demeanor changed. Her smile turned sharp as she clapped her hands.

“Let's play a game to keep things fun. Spin the bottle, truth or dare edition,” she said as the game began. The bottle started spinning and my stomach dropped.

Immediately it landed on me. Rita's eyes gleamed with vicious delight.

“Hey girl in a dress, truth or dare?”

“ Truth,” I said, afraid and unaware of what Rita had in store for me.

“Oops…, sorry... Since you began the game, you gotta make it spicy. So…,”

“Dare, " I said anxiously, curious as well, oblivious to Rita's dark schemes.

“Allison, I dare you to pick up your phone right now. Call a guy here... to do seven minutes in heaven with you in the back room right now.”

Gasps immediately rippled through the room. My face started burning. I had no guy friends around here. The only one I knew was Kai, and he was gone. And even if he was here, his girlfriend was the one daring me.

I pulled out my phone with shaking hands, pretending to scroll for a contact. Brenda, one of Rita's minions, suddenly snatched it from me and checked the screen.

“ She's not calling anyone,” Brenda announced loudly and mockingly. “Look at this, barely any contacts. Pathetic.”

Now. Would I be saving from this public humiliation? How the hell was I to escape from this?
