THE CEO OF KING'S CORPORATION IS MARRIED
Conrad read through different headlines, eyes sweeping across his tablet with his brow knitted in surprise.
“ Do you know I actually forgot you have an older brother?” he said, eyes moving to Tyler who was casually sipping his whiskey.
He smiled.
“ Like for real,” Conrad added, dropped the tablet on the table, and turned to Tyler properly. “ Are you okay?”
“ Is there a reason for me not to be?” Tyler asked, nonchalantly, the corner of his lips curved into an absurd smile.
“ Your brother is now married to your best friend.” He said, expecting some kind of reaction. “ I can't believe this, that she would marry your brother, I thought she loved you.”
“ Of course, she does.” He confirmed proudly,
“ And she agreed to marry your brother?”
Tyler chuckled and told Conrad everything that happened.
“ Holy shit!” He leaned back into his seat. Mouth parted speechlessly. “ That's fucked up.” His face drew tight in pity. “ She must be so heartbroken right now.”
“ She is.”
Conrad blinked, sighing sadly for Tessa. “ But you know right? You should've told her it's not you she's marrying.”
Tyler's eyes sharpened. “ You can't understand, there's more you don't know.”
“ Well, this one is no good. That girl loves you, Tyler. Do you not feel anything towards her at all?”
He smiled casually. “ Of course, I do.”
“ Yet, you let go?” Conrad twisted his face, not getting Tyler at all.
“As I said, there's more you don't know. Just because she's married doesn't change who she belongs to.”
Conrad scoffed at his smirk and confidence, “ You don't think her feelings could change? She's on her honeymoon right now, and they will be alone together for at least a week if I'm not wrong.”
“ So?” He giggled, glancing around the terrace. “ You think someone who's been in love with me for years would have a change of heart within a WEEK?”
“ Anything can happen.” Conrad shrugged.
“ Not this.” He shook his head. “ Tessy is mine.”
“ So you're confident she won't fall for your brother? What if she did some things with him? I mean… It's their wedding night tonight.”
Tyler smirked confidently, lapping his legs. “ She has kept herself for me for years, Conrad. Wouldn't have a boyfriend, wouldn't let another man touch her, because it's me she wants.”
Conrad's lips parted, looking displeased as he stared at him.
“ And my brother?” Tyler added, his voice hardening, eyes sharp and mischievous. “ He wouldn't touch her.”
Conrad's brow wrinkled, curious and confused, he asked. “ He wouldn't touch her? Why?”
He smirked. “ He's full of resentment. I'm damn sure he resents her, so much. That hypocrite bastard. He would not touch her. Not when he believes she chose me."
His lips curved deeper into a smirk, and slowly, his eyes flicked to Conrad who was looking confused and lost.
“ Maybe they're not trying to compensate you, maybe they truly feel guilty about all they did and are worried about you, wanting you to have someone by your side. Cause damn, I was also worried you're gonna die single.” Desmond, his best friend and business partner said, chuckling with the hope to lighten the mood.
But the other end of the call was dead and cold, no reaction or response.
Realizing what that means, he cleared his throat and added.
“ Don't hate her too much. It's your parents that's wrong, she's done nothing, Grayson.”
Grayson’s jaw ticked. His eyes sharpened with a deadly glare fixed on Tessa who was busy talking to her parents on the phone, telling them they had arrived safely.
“ You have no idea.” His deep voice muttered.
“ I have an idea,” Desmond answered. “ I could tell from your voice so full of resentment. Why would you hate and resent her so much when she's done nothing…”
“ Because she's just like them.” He cut in coldly. “ She's no different.”
“ Is there perhaps.. another reason? Did she do something..”
“ I've got to go.” He cut his suspicious question short, waited for no protest before hanging up the call.
He slid the phone into his pocket just as a hotel manager approached, posture slightly lowered in deep respect.
“ Good evening, Mr. Beaumont, congratulations on your wedding. Your honeymoon suite has been prepared exactly as your mother instructed.” He flashed him a smile before handing him the black and gold keycard with both hands.
He accepted it with a brief nod.
The manager immediately stepped aside, still smiling. The female attendants couldn't help themselves as they murmured soft whispers.
“ That's him..”
“ He's even more handsome in person..”
“ His aura…”
They tried to be discreet, but admiration leaked from their eyes. Intimidated by his presence, they shivered with excitement and fear as they stole glances at him, dropping their gazes every time his head moved, but he paid no attention to any of it.
He said nothing to the manager, simply turned and began walking towards the private elevator.
He did not wait, did not look back to check if she was following, but he heard it, the hurried whisper, the soft click of a call being disconnected.
He didn't have to turn to know she was following behind, but then, his brow creased. His steps slowed, not enough to make it obvious, but enough to confirm what he suspected.
There was something wrong with her steps. It was slow, uneven, a slight drag like she was limping. He finally glanced over his shoulder, and yes, she was indeed limping.
Her face was paler than her dress, eyes lowered, one hand clutching hard against her purse like she was walking towards a sentence and not a celebration.
He simply looked away, his indifference— clean, polished, and precise. He asked no question and did not act like he saw or noticed anything.
“ Mr. Beaumont.” A voice called, echoed with surprise just as they nearly got to the elevator.
“ Mr. Crimson?” Grayson paused, brow arched in surprise, then his lips curved into a tiny smile.
The middle-aged man hurried towards him, grinning with a lady's arm tangled into his.
“ I can't believe my eyes.” He beamed, grabbing Grayson's extended handshake. “ What are you doing here?”
“ I'm here for my honeymoon.” He replied, his voice calm and simple.
“ Ohh…” he glanced at the pale lady beside him. “ This is your wife?”
“ Wait… I know you…” The lady with Mr. Crimson said, staring at Tessa who finally glanced up. The moment their eyes met, the lady exclaimed. “ Tyler's pet?”
