Chapter 1 Don’t Contact Me Again

Olivia Hart POV

"You and I are over.

Don’t contact me again."

For a moment… I thought the message was some cruel joke.

But Alexander Kane’s name at the top of the screen was real enough to crush my heart.

My stomach twisted violently while my fingers trembled around the phone.

A single line.

Just one line had me staring blankly at the screen, unable to process what I was reading.

No! He couldn’t end two entire years… with one sentence.

“Olivia, what’s wrong? Why are you staring at your phone like that?” Evelyn’s voice pulled me out of my daze. “Did something happen?”

Tear-filled eyes lifted toward her before I could stop them, and the moment our gazes met, tears spilled down my face.

When I stayed silent, she spoke again, her tone rising a little. “I’m talking to you, Olivia. Why aren’t you answering me? Are you okay?”

My voice came out strained, thick with all the grief trapped inside me.

“There’s nothing for you to worry about, Evelyn. Actually… I want to go home. I’m not in the mood to stay here.”

“You’re hiding things from me again. Come on, tell me what happened?”

I tried to stop the tears from falling.

“See you later.”

The second I pushed myself up from the chair, trying to escape admitting what was hurting me, she spoke in a softer voice.

“How are you planning to leave like this? What’s going on with you?”

My eyes dropped back to the phone screen, pretending calm indifference while ignoring her questions.

More tears flooded my eyes.

“Oh my God..”

I covered my face with both hands, helplessness choking me as my trembling lips whispered,

“It’s Alexander.”

The sound of my crying tangled with my words until even speaking became difficult.

“That bastard is playing with me again,” I muttered, barely containing my anger.

“Calm down, Olivia, and explain so I can understand what you mean.”

“Look.”

I shoved the phone toward Evelyn. My fingers shook. I nearly dropped it.

Shock filled her brown eyes as she read Alexander’s message.

“He decided to end everything through a text message? After making me rebel against my father and fall in love with him?” A bitter laugh escaped me.

“I forgot that to him, I’m just some weak girl… not even worth a proper goodbye.”

“He decided to end our relationship after everything I did for him. Can you imagine that?”

Pain tightened inside my chest, but not a single tear fell this time.

“I don’t know why nobody wants me in their life, Evelyn. It’s like I was born to be unwanted.”

Her voice reached me softly, full of upset tenderness. “What are you even saying, Olivia? Who told you something like that?”

I watched her pour me a glass of water before sliding it toward me.

“Something’s wrong. I’m sure of it. Everything I saw between you two can’t have been fake.”

“I think Alexander loves you. There’s no way he’d leave you. Maybe he’s stressed because of work.”

“He loves me so much!”

The sarcasm in my voice stuttered out while my teeth clenched hard enough to ache.

Barely holding myself together.

“I’m the stupid one. He knew from the beginning that our relationship would never work… and still convinced me to fall in love with him.”

Anger began taking over Evelyn’s small features.

“No. He’s a bastard.”

She gritted her teeth so hard I thought they might crack.

“Just a pathetic little boy. How could he do something like this after all those romantic messages he kept sending you for months just to convince you to date him?”

A hand pushed through my short hair, dragging it back in frustration. The strands falling over my forehead lifted with my uneven breaths.

“My heart feels like it’s tearing apart, Evelyn. I wish I’d trusted my instincts about him before giving him all my sacred feelings.”

With a burst of frustration, she threw my phone onto the table, furious over the state I was in.

“He’s the one who deserves to break apart, not you.”

“Should I have given him my body to feel what I meant to him?” My voice cracked. “Whenever I think like that… I stop recognizing myself.”

I wiped away the tears on my left cheek, then the right.

“My body is too sacred to be ruined by a lustful man like him.”

Evelyn straightened before moving closer and sitting beside me. “Olivia, sweetheart.”

She wrapped her arms around me with pure affection, surrounding me with warmth and safety.

“Love was never about sex or sharing a bed. Believe me.”

Her simple words—the same words that had always held me together through every cruel moment of my life.

Never failed me.

“Your tears are precious. Don’t waste them on a bastard like him. A woman like you is still young. There are thousands of decent men who would kill for a single glance from you.”

“I’m here with you. Beside you. You know that, right?”

I lowered my head in a small nod, my mind already spinning with a thousand thoughts of what I wanted to do.

“You’re the best thing this life ever gave me, Evelyn.”

I sniffed before grabbing my leather bag with trembling fingers and pulling in a deep breath.

“I’m going to talk to him. He owes me answers.”

I cut off the protest forming on her lips.

“He can’t throw me away like this without giving me a clear reason. Even if he tries coming back later, all he’ll get is a slap to the face.”

“I’m going to him..!”

Evelyn lifted her head in shock.

“Olivia… don’t do anything reckless.”

But only one thing existed inside my head now.

If Alexander Kane wanted to end our relationship. He was going to say it while looking me in the eyes.
